Reviews & Test Rides

My brother's Abarth 595C has been delivered. How does it feel to have a Porsche driving brother?

My husband is a self-confessed car enthusiast, and his brother is also a car enthusiast.

My husband and I have very different tastes in cars, and the pace at which we buy new ones is completely different, but by now he's had his brother'sToyota Alphard, ,Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T, ,Mercedes AMG G63, ,Ferrari 488 Spider, ,Porsche Macan TurboandPanamera Turbo Sport TurismoI was allowed to test drive these cars.

And now that they have purchased another new car, my husband was allowed to drive it and write a test drive report. Please take a look if you would like to read it.

Abarth 595C

It seems my brother has bought another car. This time it's the Abarth 595C, a limited edition esseesse (SS = supersport in Italian).

He went to the dealership to discuss a Ferrari and was interested in this car that caught his eye, and he bought it because the conditions were good.

Oh no, they buy cars like they buy radishes.

Abarths are often seen in Ashiu, mainly 595s and rarely 695s. For some reason, it is common to see Ferrari and other supercar owners, as well as Porsche owners, driving these cars as second cars.

My wife used toTest drive AbarthI have been allowed to do so, but this is my first time driving myself.

This 595C is limited to 135 units nationwide, and the body color is Grigio Campovolo. It is a grayish color, like a crayon with a hint of blue, and is very cool. I think that the number of such grayish or matte-colored cars has been increasing among imported cars recently.

The transmission is an AT (5-speed sequential transmission), a so-called semi-automatic. It differs in structure from dual-clutch transmissions such as Porsche's PDK.Automatic transmission with a simple structure that automatically operates the clutchIt is.

The roof opens because of the "C" in the car name. The roof of the convertible is designed to open backward without changing the C-pillar. The structure differs from that of a normal convertible car in that the C-pillar remains intact and the roof opens directly to the rear.

The muffler is by Akrabovic, and the suspension is KONI FSD shock absorbers. The engine is a 1.4L turbo engine boosted to 180 HP, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds.

Test drive the Abarth 595C.

I got in as soon as I could. The quality of the driver's seat and dashboard area is very high. The seats are thick, very rigid, and comfortable in spite of their sporty appearance. The view from the driver's seat is like that of a high-class Italian sports car, and it is hard to believe that it is a compact car.

On the other hand, the plastics on the interior panels of the doors and other parts of the car are very cheap, and the difference in quality between the driver's seat and the dashboard area is also a characteristic of this car.

When the engine is started, the engine sounds so much better outside than it does inside.Loud and not too bass heavy. When the car is turned, it produces a rhythmic and pleasant "gwon" sound. There is a big difference between the sound of the engine inside and outside the car, and I personally like the sound of the engine outside.

I was told it was a single clutch semi-automatic when I started out.I was expecting a few more shocks, but the start was unexpectedly smooth.Do.

However, if the driver follows the recent AT style of keeping the accelerator pedal depressed at a constant speed, he or she will experience a severe gearshift shock. Every time the gear changes, torque is lost, and the occupant's head shakes back and forth as the gear shifts.

Incidentally, this is like when a person who is not a good MT driver connects the transmission by operating it slowly, and not like an old car that has not had the AT fluid changed, where the shock is like "DON! It is not a shock like that of an old car without AT fluid change.

However, once you get used to this shifting timing, you will know where to shift gears.Just lightly back off the gas pedal before shifting gears for a smooth connection.become.

Also, if you set the car to manual mode and use the paddles, you can shift gears as if you were driving a manual car. This is fun.

Incidentally, the shifting speed itself isn't very fast, so it's not like a dual-clutch transmission. It is only a manual car that can shift gears in an atmosphere similar to that of a manual car.

First, the car proceeds from the city to the winding roads. My legs are honestly stiff.I heard that KONI shock absorbers are installed, but even leaving aside the fact that it is a new car, I would like to see more suppleness in the up-and-down movement.

But the seat is thick and very comfortable and holding, so the impact feels quite mild. Therefore. It's not the discomfort of 'I can't get on board.

However, theThe stroke itself is also quite short, so there is always a sense of yusky bounce. Our Note E-power NISMO S is also reasonably stiff, but more so.

Compared to the GT3, it feels close at low speeds, but the GT3 is definitely more comfortable at higher speeds. If you are carrying your wife or girlfriend in the passenger seat, you might complain unless you are used to a car with a stiffer suspension.

I personally do not like this stiffness. I would prefer to ride a regular model without this KONI shock.
