Porsche and La Marzocco Team Up

Porsche has teamed up with premium espresso machine maker La Marzocco to launch a limited-edition espresso machine. Based on La Marzocco’s Linea Micra, the special model features Porsche graphics and design details.

Two versions are available: the “Porsche x La Marzocco Linea Micra Slate Grey,” priced at $6,555, and the “Martini Racing Edition,” priced at $6,949. That’s close to $7,000!

Remarkably, the Martini Racing Edition was limited to 911 units and sold out just eight hours after its announcement. It’s a striking example of the power of the Porsche brand.

An Espresso Machine with Porsche DNA

Porsche DNA can be found throughout this limited-edition espresso machine. The rotary knob, for example, takes its design cues from the drive-mode selector in modern Porsche models, while the pressure gauge is styled to resemble a Porsche tachometer. The magnetic drip tray and cup warmer also feature the color scheme of the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package.

Under the hood, it features a dual-boiler system for professional-level temperature stability, along with an integrated group head. Think of it as a compact version of the commercial La Marzocco machines used in many coffee shops.

The machine can also be controlled remotely through the La Marzocco Home app, a feature not found on many espresso machines.

One more detail: it weighs 19 kg (about 42 lb). For all the Porsche branding, there’s no weight-saving program here! (Laughs.)

The Power of the Porsche Brand

The fact that this expensive espresso machine sold out in just eight hours speaks volumes about the power of the Porsche brand. It’s fascinating to see the reputation of a sports carmaker inspire such strong demand in a completely different product category.

And the espresso machine isn’t the only collaboration product. Porsche-branded espresso grinders, priced at $1,840 before tax, and two espresso cup-and-saucer sets, priced at $90 and $99, are also available.

Some buyers may feel that if they’re spending nearly $7,000 on an espresso machine, it would be a shame not to enjoy their coffee in the $99 cups. The collaboration seems to bring together luxury coffee culture and a sports car brand in a whole new kind of indulgence.

For Porsche owners, this machine may mean more than simply making coffee. Imagine enjoying an espresso brewed by a Porsche-branded machine while admiring your Porsche in the garage. That’s certainly an appealing way to spend a little time.

For everyday coffee lovers, the price may raise questions, since the brand seems to account for more of the cost than any clear functional advantage. But for Porsche fans, there’s no denying that this is a tempting piece of kit.

Hopefully, it will make its way to Japan, too.
