Is Owning Two Porsches a Viable Option or Not?

How to Buy a Porsche

The Dream of Owning Two Porsches.

Owning two Porsches was something I couldn’t even imagine back when I had no interest in cars at all. I can somewhat understand having two cars for family use, like a minivan and a kei car, depending on the purpose, but two sports cars like Porsches? Especially if both are two-seater convertibles…

But now, including my husband, many people around us own multiple Porsches, so when my husband says,

“So-and-so bought another 911, did you hear?”

the reaction is just, “Oh really? That’s nice, isn’t it?” — nothing more.

I realize every day how completely my own sense has become numb.

If You Want Two Porsches, Just Go For It

Lately, even more than before, I’ve been receiving emails and comments on the blog asking for advice about buying Porsches.

Many questions are like, “I currently drive a ○○, but I’m debating whether to switch to a ○○,” and every time my husband sees these, he often says, “Yeah… if the budget allows, it’d be great to have two cars.

Also,

Buying two Porsches might sound crazy to most people. The purchase and maintenance costs are quite high. So, it’s only if your budget permits… but I don’t think you ever have to limit yourself to just one car you like. If you want two, buy two. Work hard enough to afford two.
Rather than suffering with just one car thinking, “I really want two…,” buying two might actually boost your motivation at work, make you think creatively about earning, and maybe even be a net positive. In fact, I think that possibility is quite high.
Of course, family circumstances and parking space might force you to stick to one, and every household has its own constraints, but it’s important to break the mental block of “It has to be just one car” and consider “Maybe having two is an option?
Since I started buying several Porsches myself, every time I did, it motivated me to work harder and earn more to maintain them.
At first, I was focused on “increasing my annual income,” but gradually I realized, “It’s a waste to buy the Porsches I want and then be too busy to enjoy them. Instead of focusing on annual income, I need to focus on raising my hourly rate to have more free time.”
From there, I started thinking about “how to build an organization that runs without me” and “what skills I need to increase my hourly rate,” and that’s where I am now.
If you want a Porsche, don’t hesitate to get multiple cars. That mindset ended up raising my own level.”

That made a lot of sense…

Actually, I once received an email on the blog asking, “I’m driving a 992, but I’m debating whether to switch to a 981 Boxster.” My husband said then, “If the budget allows, having two cars would be great… they’re completely different cars after all…” but that person ended up buying the 981 Boxster.

A few months later, we received a message: “Actually, after that, I bought a 992 Cabriolet S and am enjoying having two cars! I’m really glad I took the plunge! Thanks to your blog, too.

Amazing…!!!

I can’t help but wonder, Is the wife really okay with this? I hope she’s not troubled by her husband getting influenced by some random Porsche blog…! (laughs) But in this case, it seems the whole family is enjoying their Porsche life, which is a relief.

Every time we get such feedback, my husband recently says,

Especially with used cars, if you find a model you want, you should definitely get it without hesitation. Due to emissions and environmental regulations, manufacturers can no longer make sports cars like before, so future models won’t be the same as the old ones.
Also, don’t easily let go of your current beloved car. I think it will become impossible to get a well-maintained car at that price again, so even if you end up with two cars, it’s better to keep them carefully.

That really makes sense…

Recently, we’ve been receiving more and more emails and comments asking about buying Porsches, and sometimes we can’t reply promptly or need some time.

Going forward, we plan to answer questions by featuring them in blog posts or through Twitter’s audio “Spaces” function, so we hope you’ll look forward to that and thank you for your understanding.
