Seven Years of Porsche Ownership: Beyond Performance

Wanting to Share the Charm of Porsche
The first time a Porsche came to our home was in November 2015. Our first Porsche was my husband’s Boxster GTS (981).
Since then, I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to drive various models including the Panamera, 911, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, Macan, and Taycan.
No matter which model I drive, I can truly feel, “This is a Porsche…!” Even though the performance has evolved dramatically from models 30 years ago to the latest ones, there’s this mysterious feeling that “the core hasn’t changed; the same Porsche blood flows through them.”
Even though I know how incredible the performance is, when I get behind the wheel after a while, I’m moved as if “today is delivery day.”
The more I drive and learn, the deeper I realize the profound nature of Porsche cars.
On the other hand, I often feel that I haven’t fully conveyed Porsche’s charm. Especially every time I read my husband’s test drive reports,
I think, “He expresses it so precisely. I can’t pick up on that much in just one test drive, and even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to put it into clear words (I’m stuck with just ‘Amazing!’ or ‘Light and nimble!’ lol).”
My husband has loved cars since he was little and has been driving continuously since getting his license—a true car enthusiast. Even after starting this blog, he gets to drive readers’ Porsches and other rare cars every week…
Of course, he has a different accumulation of experience than I do, and I can’t be like him, but recently I’ve been thinking, “How can I convey Porsche’s charm in my own way? What exactly is Porsche’s true appeal?”
About Porsche’s Charm
Looking back, I think Porsche’s charm can roughly be divided into two parts.
The first is “the high performance as a car.” This goes without saying, but Porsche’s outstanding performance and driving excellence are truly in a league of their own. (Though, of course, the price is high too…)
I’ve driven many cars from various manufacturers that I thought were “nice cars,” but in terms of driving—suspension, handling, driving feel, high-speed stability, and brakes—Porsche stands apart.
I used to be someone who thought, “Driving in the fast lane on the highway was scary and out of the question; I always drove cautiously and nervously.” Now, I drive freely and confidently in the fast lane…
Just that fact alone makes me think how amazing Porsche is.
The second charm is “the Porsche lifestyle enriches your life.” I’ve written about this on this blog before, and many Porsche owners say the same.
Since I started driving a Porsche, I’ve met other Porsche owners and entered a world completely different from work. What I learn from these people benefits my work and motivates my life.
Also, buying a Porsche made me think more seriously about how to earn money, which ultimately led to career advancement and opened new paths, and allowed me to enjoy car life more with my family (though I’ve heard the opposite happens too… sweat).
Of course, any car can enrich your life, but with Porsche, it’s not just about “broadening your world” or “making car life more fun.” I feel there’s a deeper, hidden charm.
With that in mind, I’ll leave the car performance stories to my husband (though I might occasionally write from a female perspective), and I want to focus more on conveying “how Porsche influences life and enriches it.”
The Car is the Star of This Blog
One thing hasn’t changed since we started this blog.
That is, “the star of this blog is not us, but the cars.”
My husband and I discussed this early on,
and decided not to focus mainly on our lifestyle but to run “a blog centered on the charm of cars and the value gained through them.”
That hasn’t changed to this day (or so I hope… lol).
Going forward, I hope to keep this blog car-centered and continue sharing Porsche’s charm with awareness and enthusiasm.
