Collaboration Between Porsche and La Marzocco

Porsche has teamed up with the luxury espresso machine maker La Marzocco to release a limited-edition espresso machine. This special model is based on La Marzocco’s “Linea Micra,” enhanced with unique Porsche graphics and detailing.

Two models were released: one is the “Porsche x La Marzocco Linea Micra Slate Grey,” priced at $6,555, and the other is the “Martini Racing Edition,” priced at $6,949. That’s nearly 1 million yen in Japanese currency!

Amazingly, the Martini Racing Edition, limited to just 911 units, sold out in only 8 hours after its announcement. This clearly demonstrates the powerful influence of the Porsche brand.

Espresso Machine Infused with Porsche DNA

This limited espresso machine is infused with Porsche DNA throughout. For example, the rotary knob is inspired by the design of modern Porsche drive mode selectors. The pressure gauge mimics the look of a Porsche tachometer. Additionally, the magnetic drip tray and cup warmer feature the color design of the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package.

Functionally, it uses a dual boiler system, offering professional-level temperature stability and an integrated group head. It can be considered a compact version of the commercial La Marzocco machines used in many coffee shops.

Moreover, it includes a unique feature that allows remote control of the machine via the La Marzocco Home app—something rare among espresso machines.

By the way, the machine weighs 19 kg. Despite bearing the Porsche name, no weight reduction efforts were made (laughs).

The Power of the Porsche Brand

The fact that this high-priced espresso machine sold out in just 8 hours vividly illustrates the strength of the Porsche brand. It’s a fascinating phenomenon where the reputation of a sports car maker generates strong buying desire even in a completely different product category.

The collaboration isn’t limited to espresso machines. Porsche-branded espresso grinders (priced at $1,840 before tax) and two types of espresso cup & saucer sets ($90 and $99) have also been released.

Many consumers might feel it’s a waste not to enjoy their $7,000 espresso machine with a $99 cup. The fusion of luxury coffee culture and a sports car brand seems to be creating a new form of indulgence.

For Porsche owners, this espresso machine may mean more than just a tool for making coffee. Imagine enjoying an espresso brewed with a Porsche-branded machine while admiring your Porsche in the garage. That kind of luxurious moment is certainly appealing.

However, general coffee lovers might question the pricing, which is heavily influenced by brand value rather than purely functional superiority. Still, for Porsche fans, this is undoubtedly a must-have item.

Hopefully, it will be released in Japan as well.
