Washing My Porsche Taycan: How I Keep It Spotless

Sometimes I get asked, “How do you usually wash your Taycan?” so today, I want to share my approach.

Looking back at my car history, I’ve owned a BMW 320i, Suzuki Swift Sport, Porsche 911 Carrera T, and now the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.

To be honest, when I had the 320i and Swift Sport, I often used automatic car washes. I did wonder, “Is it really okay to put a coated car through an automatic wash?” but after some research, it seemed not to be a big deal. So, for example, if I got dirty on the highway, I’d just swing by a car wash right after. I used them quite frequently.

However, after buying the Carrera T, I got a bit nervous about using automatic car washes on such a special car. Since then, I decided to stick to professional hand washes.

Well… maybe I should wash it myself, but honestly, that feels like a hassle and I don’t really know the proper technique. So I always go to “Keeper Labo” and ask for their hand wash service.

The same goes for the Taycan—I usually get it hand washed about once a month at my local Keeper Labo.

By the way, the service I always choose is Keeper Labo’s “Pure Water Hand Wash B Course.” Since the Taycan is classified as size L, it’s a bit pricier (Cayenne and Macan are even larger LL sizes). The B Course includes a pure water hand wash, wheel cleaning, and vacuuming of the front seats.

Washing My Taycan About Once a Month

I had a glass coating applied to the Taycan before summer this year. Thanks to that, the car gets pretty slick and clean after rain. But lately, maybe due to PM2.5 pollution, it seems to get dirty faster.

Heavy rain can wash off dirt (though ideally you’d wipe it down afterward), but light rain tends to make the car look even dirtier.

That said, I’m not the type to wash it super often. I usually let it get pretty dirty and only go for a wash when I finally think, “Okay, this is just too dirty now.

Just recently, after a highway run, my car got covered in bugs. I should have washed it right away, but it took me over a week to find time. The staff at the shop said it was a bit tough to remove the bugs, but they did a great job getting it spotless again.

Lately, my usual Keeper Labo location has been quite busy, making it hard to get reservations at preferred times. So I’ve started checking other branches and try to squeeze in a wash whenever I find a free moment after work.

Feeling the Impact of Air Pollution Right After Washing

There’s nothing like that fresh, shiny feeling after a wash—it really lifts your spirits.

Just the other day, I was happily driving home with my sparkling clean Taycan when I noticed a fine layer of dust already settling on the rear glass.

Wow, the air pollution is really something else these days (laughs).

Then, the very next day, I unexpectedly drove on some seriously muddy roads on the way to Awaji Island via the highway, and of course, the car got dirty all over again.
