“I’d Love to Make It onto Ogi and Yahagi’s Car History Someday…”—Just Thinking Out Loud

Ogi and Yahagi’s Car History
Ogi and Yahagi’s Car History is a well-known car show among automotive fans.
Many guests say things like “I’m so glad they finally invited me!” and “I’ve been waiting for the call!” So it must be popular with car enthusiasts in the entertainment industry, too. And I’m sure just about everyone who watches has wondered, “What if I appeared on Car History with my own cars…?”
I’ll admit, I’ve imagined being on the show myself. But then I realized:
Oh, right—I’ve never owned a car. Not even one.
Let’s Buy a Car!
That’s right. So far, my own car history is “nothing”—it’s my husband who has a car history. “I guess that means I can’t go on Car History yet. What a shame. (Not that I’m famous enough to be on it in the first place.)” With that thought in mind, my family and I went to Super Autobacs yesterday. Inside, we found a Honda S660 on display.
Its concept is apparently “a car that makes adults want one.” As a kei-class sports car with a manual transmission, it made a splash when it first went on sale. I also remember seeing Becky drive one on TV and thinking, “Becky can drive a stick shift? That’s so cool!”
I’d been a little curious about the S660 for a while, but seeing it up close, I thought it was even cooler than I expected: simple, sporty, and beautifully free of excess. The body was so compact, though, that I wondered, “Can adults really fit in this?” Still, I suppose that small size is exactly what makes it feel like such a personal little sidekick.
On the drive home, I started daydreaming:
“After the Panamera, maybe I’d like to own an S660 as a second car…It’d be a great way to practice driving a manual, too. Oh, but we’d need a lot more parking space.”
I was grinning to myself as the fantasy grew—then suddenly came back to reality.
…But I haven’t even bought my first car yet…(LOL)
Time to get back to work next week!
