718 Cayman GTS 4.0 Test Drive - Review from the perspective of a 981 Boxster GTS and 991 GT3 owner

718 Cayman GTS4.0
Reviews & Test Rides

718 Cayman GTS 4.0 engine feeling, ride quality, etc.

Incidentally, regarding engine characteristics, theI would like to talk about how it compares to the NA 4-liter GT3 engine, which has the same bore and stroke. In conclusion, the feeling is 'quite different'.

First, the GTS4.0 is more powerful in the low rpm range. It is by far the easiest to drive and handle in town. The engine sound is also better than that of the GT3's engine, which has a mechanical noise and a powerful sound pressure that sounds like a "cone! and a powerful sound pressure, whereas the GTS4.0's sound is more like a "boom! The GTS 4.0 has a higher percentage of exhaust noise than engine noise, and a sound that is somewhat beatificIt is.

andThe most important difference is the high rpm range. The GTS4.0's engine also revs quite well, but the GT3's engine is more terrifying, as the higher the rpms, the faster the rpms rise, rather than the GTS4.0's.

This is indeed the face of GT3 here.

As for handling, I didn't get to test much of that this time around.I think it basically follows the 718 up to now.The ground feel is stronger than that of the 981, and the same is true of the rear, which feels as if it is firmly planted.

If I had to pick one thing, it would beI would like to add that this GTS 4.0 felt quite comfortable to ride. From the start, the ride is moist and corey, and there is no feeling of a bumpy ride even in the city.

Recently.Of all the Porsches I've experienced, this ride quality is in the first or second level.I think. I think the suspension is reasonably tightened up, but it feels like it is riding on high quality rubber bushings. But, at the same time, it does not feel squishy or weak at all, so there is no sense of insecurity at all.

The name "GTS" may give the impression of being sportier and harder than it is.The previous generation 981 also had a very comfortable ride in the GTS.In addition, in the case of the GTS4.0, the engine and transmission are very easy to handle, so in terms of ride quality alone, I think a grade expression like "S Plus" rather than "GTS" would more accurately describe it.

718 Cayman GTS4.0 Test Drive

After test driving the GTS 4.0 this time, I thoughtIf the reader is buying a Porsche for the first time, I would definitely recommend it. A model that is packed with all the good things about Porsche these days.I think.

In terms of a fine restaurant, it might be better described as a special seasonal menu. It is made with many popular ingredients and seasoned to suit everyone's tastes.

Of course, for those looking for something with a little more spice, the Spider and GT4 are also available.

This time, Porsche threw the ball right in the middle where the user was holding the catcher's mitt, asking the user to throw the ball here.NA 6-cylinder, mid-ship, high power, attractive sound, straightforward handling, easy handling for all. It's a sports car that has it all...GTS 4.0, I think it's good.

    Mina.

I also test drove a GTS4.0 before and it was very comfortable as your husband said.
I thought it looked more like a GT car than a sports car.
But I think it's too put together for a second car that seeks the extraordinary.

This 4.0L NA engine and the comfortable taste of the ride, now that I think about it, would be more compatible with the 992.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Ishi.
      Thank you for everything!

      >I also test drove a GTS4.0 before and as your husband said, it was a very comfortable ride.
It's amazing that the ride is that comfortable...!
I imagine that the passenger seat must be very comfortable as well.

As a second car for the extraordinary, would the 718 Sbaider be a better choice?
I'm curious about this one too...!

    Hello.
Thank you for your always enjoyable articles.
    I am referring to.
As a person who has chosen the Cayman gts 4.0 as my first Porsche, I am very happy and empowered by this article, so I am writing to you unreservedly to comment.
This is my first Porsche and I wanted someone to affirm that this choice was not a mistake. (LOL)
I was quite anxious since I placed the order without even test driving the car, but thanks to you, I am now over it. Thank you very much!

      Oh yes!!! Congratulations!
I'm glad I could be of some help (laughs).
I would be happy to take delivery of the car again and let you know what I think of it in the course of actually riding and owning it ^^.
Thank you for your continued support.

    Hi Mina.

I actually test drove the GTS 4.0 myself.
I was curious to see what kind of car it would be since it is the same engine.

The test car was a PCCB, with sport chrono.
I think it had a lot more on it than that, though: ・・・・

It is the same engine as the GT4, but the result makes you wonder if it can be changed so much just by setting it up, giving the impression that the sharp edges have been rounded off and smoothed out.

I test drove the car for about 30 minutes, but it was just so easy to drive.

    The gas pedal and brakes do not require delicate control like the GT4, and although the suspension is a bit stiffer than normal, it is more comfortable than the GT series (^^;

I think the gas pedal is set up so that when you step on the gas pedal, you step on it as much as you do on the GT4, but the gas pedal opening is lower.

This is better suited for city driving.

The PCCB's effectiveness is not as good as the GT series due to its smaller diameter, but I think it is sufficient for our needs.
I tried full braking as instructed by the person in charge, but the initial braking was more gradual than in the GT4 and I had to step on the brakes more.
I think the master diameter is different.
The sensation was that the operation was close to that of the red calipers on the Cayman, but more effective.

The mode is to be 3-cylinder, but it did not switch in town during my test drive.
GT4 also does not switch for running at about 60 km/h.
In the case of the GT4, it switches when driving at a constant speed of about 100 km/h on the highway, but I don't use it because the bass increases and becomes a bit annoying, and the vibration increases and the ride quality worsens.
Its sound also sounds like when an engine dies 1.2 cylinders for a long time, which is not a good feeling if you have ever broken it in a race.
You mentioned that the sound only changes a little when the lighter switches on YouTUBE test drives, but my GT4 changes quite a bit.

Overall, I think it is a car that anyone can drive reasonably well, regardless of the type of rider.

If you want to do everything with one of these, I feel the GTS 4.0 is the best choice.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Nak acid
You all say it's very easy to ride.
Since Mr. Nak has a GT4, I envy him to be able to compare and taste his own GT4 and GTS4.0...!

      >Overall, I think it is a car that anyone can drive reasonably well, regardless of the type of rider.
      >I feel that the GTS4.0 is the best choice if you are going to use this one for everything.
I see...!!! My husband thinks it's great, too, for first-time Porsche buyers, etc., because it's got it all! And
He said the same thing as Mr. Nak.
I'd love to test drive one myself...!

I also took a test ride.
The character was so different from the GT3 that it was hard to believe that the displacement was the same as the GT3.
    Mild and easy to ride.
But what I look for in a Porsche is not comfort or ease of handling, so I didn't like it.
This test drive was very meaningful in the sense that I was able to reconfirm what I was looking for in a Porsche.
Looking forward to the new GT3.

It's been a while! Thank you for your comments.
My husband read the comments and said, "I know...! I know exactly what you mean...! He said, "I know exactly what you mean...!
I've seen all sorts of pictures of the new GT3, and I'm curious to see how it actually runs!
It must be insanely high performance...

This is my first time posting here. I am always learning from your blog.
I am very interested in the ride quality of this GTS 4.0.
    One question.
The standard suspension of the GTS4.0 is the PASM sport suspension.
The PC demo car nearby was not a sports suspension, but the optional PASM suspension on a dare. (Sorry for the complication).
Was the car you test-drove a PASM suspension or a PASM sports suspension?

    • Mina.Mina.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

      >Was the car you test-drove a PASM suspension or a PASM sports suspension?
I asked him about it and he said it had the standard PASM sport suspension! That's amazing that the ride is that comfortable...
I did not know that the 718GTS4.0 has a sport suspension as standard. Thank you!

    Ms. Mina

The other day, I signed a contract for a Cayman GTS 4.0 LHD at Mr. H's place. It is a full order, so it will be delivered a little later. I am sure the delivery will be a little bit later.
Now I can join the ranks of Porsche owners.

    • Mina.Mina.

Mrs. H had also contacted my husband. I just wanted to congratulate you on this very important accomplishment!!!
      So it's LHD, cool!
Please try to drive around Ashiu and other places when you get the car.

  7. tenoned part of a wooden joint (in construction)

    I always enjoy them.
I also got to test drive the 718GTS.

The ride was really nice, and I felt it was easy to ride because of the great low-speed torque.
As your husband said, it was not as loud as the 981 and felt more mature in comparison.
S+ is an odd thing to say.

I can tell you that, for my personal taste, even though I know the performance is better on the 718, I'd still prefer the
Even if they were the same price, I think I would choose the 981.

By the way, I had the opportunity to drive a 992 bare-bones Cabri the other day.
As written in this blog, the legs felt much stiffer than the S!

The wheels were the same 20 and 21 inches as the S
The air pressure was also comfort pressure.
I was surprised to see how different it was.
I felt that choosing the grade of Porsche is still a difficult task.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Tomozo.
      Thank you for everything!
As for engine noise, the newer the model, the more restrictive it becomes.
Must be a lot of difficulties...
I thought that engine sounds like 981 would become really rare.

      >I had the opportunity to drive a 992 bare cabriolet.
      Oh yes!
      Was it still hard?

I told my husband about the comments I received.
'I knew it! When you put it like that, it kind of reassures me that my sensors weren't going crazy!"
      (laughter).

It's really hard to choose the grade of Porsche...
It would be nice if we could test drive all the grades, but even then it would be different again for each individual...

Thank you for always reading exciting stories for Porsche lovers.
I used to drive a 981 Boxster GTS PDK, but recently I bought a 718 Spyder. 718 Spyder is a car that I am not sure if I can use on a daily basis and I can't let go of my 981 Boxster GTS, so I use two cars together. It was a fun car to drive, but as I expected, I scraped my nose, buttocks, and stomach, and the 1cm difference in height and the protruding lip made it unusable for daily use such as commuting (I could not clear the entrance to the underground parking garage at work). The manual top also made me feel uncomfortable in sudden rain (I used to drive an Elise, so I thought I knew what I was doing...). I am very frustrated because I would like to drive my favorite car every day. The other day I test drove a GTS4.0 (Cayman with PCCB) and was so surprised at how comfortable it was that I ordered a Boxster GTS4.0 (production confirmed in February). I think it is a great car if you use it for commuting to work, going to mountain passes on weekends, and occasionally to the circuit (although I only drive it on mini circuits). What worries me a little is that the great ride quality may be due to the PCCB I test drove (the one I ordered has stock brakes)....
My elderly mother wanted to drive a Porsche convertible at least once, so I decided to go with PDK, but PDK is still the best on the track, and even if I switch from Spyder to GTS4.0, I don't think I will ever let go of 981 after all.

      Thank you for everything!
981 Boxster GTS, and the Spyder, GTS 4.0!
      Lovely ^^!

I asked my husband about the comfort of the GTS 4.0.
The one I test drove didn't have a PCCB, but it had a sport suspension, and it was very comfortable, so I think it will be fine!
      He said.

Oh, what a wonderful story...! I want my son to grow up to be just like you (laughs).
The 981 Boxster GTS is a real classic...!

Thank you for answering my imprecise question on my first post the other day.

I'm actually preparing to get out of my Porsche (981), but I'm not sure if I'm ready to take the final step.
It doesn't stick. People around me tell me it's a waste of money and that I should reconsider.

My regret is that I haven't driven the Ashiu Driveway yet, and I'm a Porsche ronin.
It is really difficult to graduate from Porsche without

I'm really sorry that my comments are so uninteresting and whiny.
