Porsche Boxster GTS and Nightscape Photography

Boxster and Nightscape
My husband, who is passionate about photography, has taken many photos of “nightscapes with our cars” over the years. However, most of them were with the Panamera and GT3; he had never taken a single photo of the Boxster with a night view.
Since our Boxster’s body color is white, my husband said,
“It’s tough to photograph a white car with a nightscape. The Panamera’s Night Blue Metallic body blends well into the darkness, but I think photos of the Boxster with night views will be difficult.”
He mumbled like this quite often.
However, recently when he went to Kobe to take photos of the GT3 with the nightscape (read about that trip here), he discovered a way to shoot the car so it looks like it’s illuminated by a spotlight. He then said, “With this technique, I think I can take beautiful photos of the Boxster too.”

Then, the other day, after the rain cleared and the sky was perfectly clear, he said, “Tonight’s nightscape should be beautiful!” and went out late at night after his bath to the Royu Driveway lookout point to photograph the Boxster with the night view.
As for me, once I’ve taken a bath, I’m too lazy to go out at all, so I always wonder, “Where does his motivation even come from…?” lol
Boxster at the Royu Lookout
The Royu Driveway lookout is famous for its stunning panoramic night views and was even a filming location for the drama “Hanzawa Naoki” a few years ago. However, since it’s up in the mountains, you can’t always get a clear night view. Sometimes, even on clear days, clouds or mist obscure the distance.
I’ve visited the lookout several times at night myself, but only twice have I been able to enjoy a truly beautiful nightscape. Other times, visibility was poor, and on some occasions, it even rained at the lookout while it was clear at the foot of the mountain.
Mountain weather really is so unpredictable…
So, while my husband enthusiastically went out to take photos, my daughters and I went to bed early. But when I woke up in the morning, he said,
“I got some pretty good shots!”
Apparently, he stayed quite late (laughs).
When I looked at the photos right away, I was surprised to see that despite the late hour, the city lights were still brightly shining. I had imagined, “Due to COVID, the city might be darker at night now…” but that wasn’t the case at all.
So, please enjoy the photos my husband took lol
Indeed, these photos are much more beautiful than the night shots my husband took in the past. It seems not only the camera’s performance but also his skills have improved. He plans to keep honing his photography skills, so I look forward to sharing more great photos here on the blog in the future.
