Next Week, Driving the Porsche 911 at Fuji Speedway!

Fuji Speedway Two Years Ago

Two years ago, my husband participated for the first time in a track day hosted by 911DAYS at Fuji Speedway. Our family went along, and I got to watch him drive up close. However, there was an unexpected heavy snowfall starting the day before, which made things quite challenging, haha.

I’m known as a rain and storm magnet, but to have snow fall so late, just before April, was surprising… Thankfully, the morning of the event cleared up, so we waited for the snow to melt and were glad it went ahead.

Seeing so many new and classic Porsches gathered together was truly breathtaking.

At that time, my husband drove the Boxster GTS in the track day, and despite it being his first time, he placed quite high—competing alongside GT3 RS, GT3, 911 Turbo, GT4, and others—and he had a fantastic time.

He was really fired up: “I want to join again! This time I drove a manual, but next time I want to drive a PDK car. I think I could go even faster then!”

While waiting during the track sessions could get a bit boring for those not driving, the kids had a great time snacking and playing on the grass.

This Year, Driving the 911 at Fuji

And this year, once again, we’ve been invited to the 911DAYS track day around the same time, so our family will be going together.

This time, my husband will be driving the 911 Cabriolet. After attending Porsche’s driving school last year in the 911 Cabriolet, he was deeply impressed by its speed and performance, and he wanted to participate in this track day with the 911 Cabriolet.

As for me, I’ll be following along with the kids in the Cayenne. (I won’t be driving on the circuit.)

Last year, due to COVID and pregnancy, it had been a while since we took a long drive as a family. This will also be our first long-distance drive in the Cayenne, so I’m really looking forward to seeing just how comfortable the drive will be.

When we previously drove back and forth in the Panamera and BMW 320i (manual), it wasn’t as tiring as expected, but I’m sure the Cayenne will be even more comfortable.

Last time, since it was our first time attending, we weren’t quite prepared on the support side—we forgot to bring lunch, so we ended up buying a ton of snacks at the track’s shop, and we didn’t bring anything for the kids to pass the time. This time, we’ll be properly prepared.

With that in mind, I’d also like to share in this blog how families can enjoy themselves when coming along to support at a track day.

By the way, on the day of the event, I hope to do some live coverage from the clubhouse, possibly broadcasting from Fuji Speedway, and if I get to ride shotgun, I might do some live commentary from inside the car—sharing some fun stories that usually aren’t possible.

If you’re interested, I’d be happy if you could follow my Clubhouse account (I’ll be tweeting updates about the Clubhouse sessions on Twitter).
