Movements at Porsche Japan
My husband has often said things like this about Porsche Japan.
Porsche Japan is always so slow to act, isn’t it? Even though new models are announced and prices revealed in the home country, the Japanese site takes forever to publish prices or update the configurator… Announcements made on Porsche’s official Twitter often don’t show up quickly on Porsche Japan’s Twitter… Meanwhile, Porsche’s US site updates instantly…
With all this, I can’t help but feel the Japanese market isn’t really being prioritized…

Indeed, delays in price announcements and configurators not supporting new models were common, and my husband often used the European and American Porsche sites to configure cars.
We had visited Porsche Japan’s headquarters once before, and I got the impression it was a small, elite team running things, so I thought, “Maybe everyone’s just so busy they can’t keep up…” and left it at that.
What’s going on, Porsche Japan?
Lately, my husband has started saying things like this about Porsche Japan.
I feel Porsche Japan has really changed recently. Maybe it started around the time of the COVID-19 situation… Starting with Japan-exclusive videos for the new Cayenne, then releasing overseas videos with Japanese subtitles, and recently, when Porsche announced the Cayenne GTS, Porsche Japan’s Twitter posted about it immediately. Prices and configurators for the new Turbo S and Targa models were published on the site right away…
There weren’t even videos explaining how to use the configurator before! It feels like they’re way more serious now than before.
I wonder what happened… but whatever it is, it’s a great thing!

I don’t know if the organization changed or if various reviews were done due to COVID-19, but either way, this shift in Porsche Japan’s approach is very welcome for users in the Japanese market.
My husband says,
I probably watch Porsche Japan’s Twitter more than anyone else in Japan (laughs), and I don’t think this recent change in pace is just my imagination.
As a Porsche owner and fan, I want as little information and product gap as possible between Japan and Germany. So I’m really happy about this.
Also, from my work experience, I can tell the website is gradually improving, content delivery is faster, and some of the technology behind the scenes has changed. It’s clear they’re putting a lot of thought into it.
As an IT professional, my husband often complains about other companies’ sites, saying things like “Why do they make such confusing sites?” “These sites are way too heavy…” So if he notices a change like this, it probably means something really did change inside Porsche Japan.
I hope this momentum leads to more manual transmission models coming to Japan properly…! (Though that might be tough)
