Fulfilling a Young Car Enthusiast’s Dream: Letting Him Ride Our Family Porsche

Our Younger Daughter Goes to Kindergarten in a Porsche
Our younger daughter currently attends kindergarten, and every morning my husband drives her there. Sometimes she requests a specific car, so she ends up going to school in a different car almost every day. (How lucky is that…)
One day, after dropping her off and coming back home, my husband said,
There’s a boy who often waves at me when I drop her off in the morning. He really seems to love cars. He’s in the same class.
He said, “I’ll let him ride with us next time!” Please talk to his mom about it.
That’s what he told me.
I replied, “Oh, that’s great. I’ll talk to her next time.” but I forgot about it, and it just slipped my mind. Then he said,
Have you talked to his mom about it? I really want to make time soon to let him ride. Since then, every time we meet at kindergarten, he waves at me.
I think it’s really important for kids to have the experience of riding or touching the cars they admire while they’re still young and sensitive. It can even change their lives.
Maezawa-san is doing a supercar project, and I think giving kids those kinds of opportunities is really meaningful.
That made me think… I often hear stories of people who decided to become racers after watching an F1 race at Suzuka Circuit as kids, or who were deeply influenced by something in childhood that shaped their future.
Looking back, I don’t really have any memories of being that deeply moved as a child, so I guess I was just drifting through life… (-_-)
Later, when I told the boy’s mom, “My husband really wants to let your son ride in our car,”
Really? Actually, my husband told me he’d let him ride in the Porsche again, and our son was so happy to hear that. Maybe because of my husband’s love for cars, our son really loves them too, and he’s always coloring pictures of Porsches and Lamborghinis at home…
After that, he got excited and said he wants to write a letter to your husband, so I’ll give it to you next time!
She said that, and we received the letter a few days later.

Apparently, he usually colors like this at home.
The letter had a beautifully colored Porsche and a message saying, “Please let me ride in the Porsche. From ○○.”
So cute… (T_T)
My husband was really impressed by the letter, and we arranged a time for him to ride in the Porsche on the Royu Driveway.
Making a Young Car Lover’s Dream Come True
I asked in advance, “Which Porsche would you like to ride?” and he requested the 911 Cabriolet, so we planned to go with two cars that day: the 911 Cabriolet (992) and the Cayenne.
That morning, while coordinating with his mom,
Our son was counting down the days and even woke me up at 5 a.m. saying, “Today’s the day I get to ride in a Porsche!” (laughs)
was her reply.
Since he was so excited, we decided, “Let’s bring both the 911 Cabriolet and the Boxster GTS! He can ride in both!” So I went to pick up the Boxster from a parking lot near the station before heading out.
Fortunately, the weather was perfect that day, and the boy and his mom enjoyed riding with us in the 911 Cabriolet and Boxster with the roofs down. The dads had a great time chatting about cars, and the whole family shared a wonderful experience. (His mom even rode with me in the MT Boxster, haha.)
By the way, when I asked which car he liked better, the 911 Cabriolet or the Boxster GTS, he said, “I liked the Boxster GTS better.” Maybe the engine sound was more thrilling?
This was before the state of emergency was declared, so we didn’t stay long and headed home. When saying goodbye, we gave him some Porsche goodies as souvenirs: a Porsche keychain, a Porsche flag, and catalogs.
Afterwards, the boy’s mom sent me a message,
Our son was so happy and immediately attached the keychain to his kindergarten bag! Also, my husband was inspired by Mina’s driving and said, “More than wanting to drive a Porsche himself, he really wants to get his wife into one,” so I might go for my license upgrade soon (laughs).
My husband said,
I’m so glad he enjoyed it! You don’t often meet kids who love cars that much. I hope he keeps that passion as he grows up!
And I hope he can come to Royu on Sunday mornings when sports cars gather!
with a big smile.
As he grows, he might lose interest in cars, but I hope he cherishes his pure feelings now and grows up well.
I’ll do my best too!
