Porsche Panamera

Hello everyone. This is Mina, the administrator of "A Porsche Came to My Home". I would like to share the real voices of various Porsche owners with you! This project was born from the request of our readers, "I want to share the real voices of various Porsche owners!Porsche Owner's FileThe "Mere Old Man". Part 11 is a review of the purchase, options, and driving of the 971 Panamera 4S from Mamma, a resident of Hokkaido, Japan.

I have posted a lot of information about the Panamera on this blog, and I believe that the driving and ride quality will completely change between the normal, 4, 4S, turbo, and hybrid. So, how do you evaluate the Panamera 4S that we received this time? Please take a look.

→ Audi A6 Avant (C6) → Audi S4 (B8)
→BMW M3 sedan (E90), and the first Porsche, a Panamera 4S, arrived at our house!
A word to our readers: We are happy to help anyone who is considering buying a Panamera.

(1) Background leading to purchase

About your choice of car

As I look back over the history of my beloved car, I would like to share with you some of the things that I have learned about the car I love.I think I was obsessed with Honda, especially the VTEC engine, for the first half of my car life.I remembered that "the

After leaving Honda, I happened to take a form of German cars. First, as far as Audi cars are concerned, "Sparkling interior and exterior lightingI was attracted to the BMW M3 sedan because of the " and about the BMW M3 sedan because of the "Muscular design with blister fenders and power domeI remember falling in love with the "I" and bought it.

And then, as more and more people around me became acquainted with German cars, I naturally became interested in German cars, and I began to think, "I'd like to drive a German car, too.Fast, cool, beautiful instrument panel. The axis of decision-making in selecting a car, "the car of the future," has not changed consistently since the Honda Prelude.

Why did you become interested in Porsche?

One day at dusk, dashing away991 type 911 Carrera 4I was shocked and impressed by the beauty of the 911's style and the splendor of its tail lamps. The beauty of the 911's style and the splendor of its tail lights struck me as if I had been struck by lightning.I wonder if there is any way we can welcome a Porsche into our home.I began to be aware of this.

Why did you choose the Panamera among the Porsches?

It was the "991 911 Carrera 4" that triggered my strong interest in Porsche cars, as mentioned above, but(I thought the overall design was stunning, especially the rear view was breathtaking)If you buy a 911, you will need another car for 4 full passengers.

At the time, my interest in Porsche was waning, thinking that I would have to wait until my children had grown up and moved out of the house to have two cars. I had read in a magazine or something that "The design of the 971 Panamera is a 991 911-likeKnowing that "

'Could it be that the 971 Panamera is incredibly cool! No, it's incredibly cool! And it's a four-seater!"

I began to actively consider purchasing the product.

What was the deciding factor in choosing the Panamera 4S?

From a power balance point of view, since we are switching from a BMW M3 sedan.Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera 4SWe considered three different types of vehicles.

I live in Hokkaido, which is a snow country, but cars these days are very smart and I didn't even think that 4-wheel drive was essential.(Even the RWD M3 sedan was able to handle the snow.)

So, as a matter of course, I tried to get a quote from the least expensive RWD Panamera, but the person in charge told me thatFew people buy this one (RWD Panamera) (Nikko)I sensed the implied nuance of "don't ask me for FR" (laughs).
As for me, I would say, "There is no reason to be so concerned about the RWD model.I thought, "I'd like to compare the Panamera 4 and Panamera 4S," and in the end I decided to do so.

High Gloss Black Interior Package

The standard equipment on the Panamera 4 and the Panamera 4S is different, of course, but if you are prepared to increase the cost and add options, you can get almost the same equipment.

However. The High Gloss Black Interior Package is available for the Panamera 4, but not for the Panamera 4S.It was.(Although the catalog indicates that the 4S model is also available, the configurator does not offer this option, and when I checked with the person in charge, I was told that it was still not available. (It is also selectable for turbo models.)As someone who was thinking either "black or carbon for the interior,"

Why is it that both the Panamera 4 and the Panamera Turbo have the option of the High Gloss Black Interior Package, but the Panamera Turbo has the option of the High Gloss Black Interior Package?"Only the Panamera 4S can't.Is it? Is the Panamera 4S the only outcast...?"

I was slightly caught off guard... but I think the law will be its power performance, whether you choose the Panamera 4 or the Panamera 4S, and the "For the interior, you can choose black for the Panamera 4 or carbon for the Panamera 4S.We considered the position of "standing".

And finally, we chose the Panamera 4S, becauseIf you choose a Panamera that has less horsepower and torque than a BMW M3 sedan, you will probably feel that the Panamera is lacking in relative terms.I thought, "I'm not going to be able to do that.

The horsepower and torque of the Panamera 4 are also sufficient in normal terms, and I did not feel underpowered at all during the test drive, but perhaps there was a yearning for the "S" emblem in my heart.

(2) Options / Specifications

■Wheel Accessories:Porsche Crest Wheel Center Caps
Interior color: Saddle brown / Luxor beige

Why did you choose this option and specification?

I had originally quoted 4s with the intention of orderingA near-order unit is in Porsche Japan's custody.proposal, and we ultimately purchased that vehicle.

Although it was not an exact match to the car we were planning to order, we decided to go for it because it had important options that we wanted to be sure about, we could change some of the missing features, and we could deliver the car in a few weeks. I decided to go for it. By the way, the points of concern were

Carrara White Metallic, Saddle Brown/Luxor Beige, LED matrix headlights (including PDLS pulses), Comfort Access, Sport Chrono Package, 4-zone automatic climate control, Carbon Interior Package The "Carbon Interior Package" is available in the following colors

The first time I saw it, I thought it would be a good idea to add ambient light to the room. In addition, we were going to add ambient light, butPanamera in storage is not equipped and cannot be retrofitted. So we finally decided to give up.

In addition, the Panamera in storage had many options that we had not originally anticipated. It would be rude to call them superfluous...it's just that the "If it's attached, it could be useful.I was convinced in my own way and decided to purchase the car. I will describe the evaluation of the actual options after delivery later.

In the end, the vehicle to be ordered minus "ambient light" plus "alpha" (which is quite a bit (^_^;)) led to the purchase of a storage vehicle based on the expectation that there would not be a significant difference between MY2018 and MY2019.

  1. as it is

    Dear Mina

    It has been a while.
It is just as it should be.
Dear Mina and family, how are you and your family doing?
We look back on our Panamera life to date and would be happy to make the following additional contributions.

    (1) About the deciding factor in choosing the Panamera 4S
I'm not sure that the M3 sedan was ever able to fully realize the true power of the M3 sedan.
    I'm an amateur car enthusiast.
There is no rationale for choosing the 4S from a power balance standpoint, and the Panamera or Panamera 4 is the best choice for power performance.
I am beginning to think that it was enough.
Indeed, if you step on the accelerator pedal of the Panamera 4S, you can already feel the acceleration that reminds you of a shrinking land.
I will show you, but it is too much for me who rarely bring it to the circuit or mountain pass.
    I think it has potential.
The M3 sedan and the Panamera 4S are both monsters," a line that could have come out of a comic book.
It is always on my mind.
I bought the M3 sedan in the first place because of its appearance, not because of its power.
Even if the V8 engine had been a straight-six, I would have bought it.
Now that the world has moved beyond the old days of 280-horsepower regulations, in fact, the S4's 333 horsepower was sufficient.
It's a wonder why every time I bought a new car, the horsepower increased.
Now that I think about it, I feel like I was being shallow....

Also, my Panamera 4S with full options and my Panamera GTS with moderate options.
(and the GTS has more standard equipment) is almost the same price as the
I think you are making it hard to understand where the Panamera 4S stands....

In short, we can no longer see the benefit of purchasing the 4S at a reasonable price.
For this reason, if I were to consider the Panamera again, I would carefully select the model and options for purchase.

As for the model, it depends on the buyer's circumstances, so I'll leave that up to you.
I would like to give my personal opinion on the options.

    (2) About Options
I still think the 14-way is a must and would highly recommend it. I have a child in the passenger seat who has started to fall asleep.
There are many times when I wish I could fold the passenger seat down, and in this regard, I can't help but think that it would be nice if the passenger seat could be operated from the driver's seat.
It is also sad to see such an expensive car with manual steering adjustment.
It also comes with easy entry, so I will definitely add the 14-way if there is a next one.

Matrix headlights, on the other hand, are recognized as a deleted item.
I think it would be useful if the high beam setting = matrix state, but be sure to deactivate the matrix state.
It goes through the normal high beam position and if you were driving in the matrix
Sometimes I get passed by oncoming cars w
I may not have been using it properly, but it seems that the normal PDLS is probably not inadequate at all.

On the other hand, adaptive cruise control is treated as an unnecessary item when the car is delivered.
It was useful on the highway. However, it has a large deceleration shock.
I don't have much experience with other manufacturers and would like to hear Mina's evaluation in this area. Please do!

Also, soft-close doors, where we didn't initially see the value in them.
I like it so much that once I have experienced it, I can no longer drive a car without it.
I love the situation of the door closing without a sound, it's so elegant.

By the way, the Panamera's doors stop anywhere snugly, regardless of the angle at which they are opened or closed.
I don't know what you call this equipment, but when you reach a certain angle, you can make a little momentum with a click.
It would be normal to stop with it, and I think that's fine, but it stops as it is at every angle.
This is another very nice mechanism because it means that you don't have to worry about neighboring cars or walls.
I don't think this equipment, at least not in other German cars, but what about other manufacturers?
Please enlighten us here too, Mina!

Finally, there is a 4-zone climate control, but you may be wondering whether to choose this or a 5-seater.
For starters, it is my opinion that a huge storage space in that location...should be avoided from both a practical and visual standpoint.
As a 5-seater, I can't help but compare it to the AMG GT 4-door coupe.
The 4-seater model has not yet been introduced to the Japanese market (or has it?). If you want a 4-seater, you have no choice but to choose the Panamera.

(iii) Areas of concern as a whole
I am fed up with the shallowness and low capacity of the trunk.
The AMG GT 4-door coupe also gives the impression that it is deep and spacious enough, while the Panamera may not be as good as the AMG GT 4-door coupe.
In my case, even though the body is larger, it takes some ingenuity to load the luggage that could be loaded in the M3 sedan without any problem, or it does not fit...
    This was a bit disappointing.
It may be possible to eliminate this problem if the backrest is split 4:2:4, but it is still a generally shallow and small trunk.

And this may be more true for Porsche cars in general than for the Panamera, but for better or worse, I strongly feel the gaze of others!
(I may be over-conscious, but wow).
And when I saw the excitement of the female staff when I took them for a ride to my workplace, I couldn't help but marvel at the magical power of the "Porsche" to attract people.
Aha, if only I were a little younger or something.

    (4) As I wrote in my general review.
A four-seater sports car that is agile and dynamic with a touch of luxury."
is really neither an exaggeration nor a false statement, but is absolutely true.
This feeling was the same when the car was delivered and remains the same today.
A true sports car with great practicality."
This is definitely true in that a family of four can get in and out of the car without stress, and when they do get in, they feel very comfortable and at home.

The above comments about trunks and cost performance depend on usage conditions and personal preferences, and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.
For me, a typical worker in his late 40s, a car is mainly used for a short drive with his family and for leisure activities.

The exterior of the Panamera is a great design that transcends other rivals to which it is often compared by a landslide.
If you fall in love with this design, it is definitely a good buy on its own.

I apologize for the length and rambling.
We hope this will be helpful to those who are considering purchasing a Panamera.

    • Mina.Mina.

cooked rice mixed with vegetables and meat or fish

      It's been a while!
And thank you so much for the addendum on the Panamera 4s!
We will make an addition to the owner's file at a later date.

Our family often talks about how the Panamera Turbo would be a treasure, and how a plain Panamera might be enough.

I recently attended the Porsche Track Experience and experienced the full braking from full acceleration of the Panamera Turbo and
The tremendous performance and power gave me goosebumps and I thought, "That's what a turbo is for! I thought, "That's what I'm talking about!

I don't drive on circuits or in mountain passes either.
I also thought it was a waste because I couldn't use them at all.

      > is another very nice mechanism in that you don't have to worry about neighboring cars or walls.
      >I don't think this equipment, at least not in other German cars, but what about other manufacturers?

I'll have to check with my husband in a bit!
But sure, having the door stop right where you open it is insanely convenient!

The more you drive a Porsche or Panamera, the more you understand its depth.
I always think it is really great because I have a different impression right after delivery and after a year.

Now, I will add the above to the owner's file.
      Please wait for a while.
