Our Car Life

A Baby Has Come Home

Today’s story isn’t about a car delivery, but about a new addition to our family. For those who have been following this blog, you probably already know that I was pregnant, and just recently, I gave birth to our third child.

The baby boy was born about a week past his due date, weighing over 3500g, and thankfully both mother and child are healthy.

I thought, “Since this is our third child, I probably wouldn’t cry during the birth,” but when I finally met my baby after all the hard work, I was deeply moved and tears naturally welled up.

Despite the challenges brought on by COVID-19, I am so grateful that our baby was born safely, and that among so many parents out there, he chose to come to us… My heart is full of gratitude.

During my pregnancy, I received so many warm messages and kind words from readers, and every time I read them, I was deeply touched, thinking, “What wonderful people my readers are…” Thank you all so much.

Looking back, from the morning sickness that started at the end of last year, to our eldest daughter starting elementary school and our second daughter entering kindergarten in spring, and with COVID-19 forcing us to stay home and switch to online classes until June, I was so busy that I almost forgot I was pregnant, even as my belly kept growing.

I had hoped, “Once I hit the stable period, I want to take the family on a little trip or outing,” but unfortunately, COVID-19 made that impossible… Still, I’m glad I was able to enjoy some car life by driving a manual transmission car up until the last month and going on short drives with the family within the limits of the situation.

Thanks to that, my baby got to hear the GT3’s engine roar, the Boxster’s exhaust sound, and plenty of naturally aspirated Porsche sounds — so I’m sure the prenatal education was perfect (laughs).

Raising Three Kids and Car Life

As for car life after giving birth, I think it will be difficult to drive for a while (and honestly, I’m worried I might overdo it too soon after delivery), so I plan to take it easy at home for a bit.

That said, I am fully determined to be there for the delivery of the 911 Cabriolet.

Regarding blog updates, my husband has been test-driving cars for acquaintances, the new Panamera has been announced, and there’s plenty of material, so I plan to keep posting at the usual pace.

Balancing raising three kids, car life, blogging, and some work won’t be easy, but I want to take it easy, enjoy it as much as possible, and move forward step by step with the whole family’s support.

So, in just a few days, we’ll be discharged from the hospital with our baby, and my husband will be coming to pick us up. Since he couldn’t be there for the birth due to COVID-19, I know he’s really looking forward to meeting our child, and of course, I want him to hold the baby as soon as possible. More than that, I’m secretly excited to see what he’ll choose as our son’s first Porsche and what he’ll drive to pick us up.

With that, our family of five is starting a new chapter of car life. Thank you all for continuing to follow our blog, “Welcome Home, PORSCHE.”
