The Panamera’s Concept
In yesterday’s blog post, I wrote about the Panamera’s concept after saying, “I found an old Panamera brochure.” It featured the words “Day and Dream,” but something didn’t feel quite right. “Was that really the Panamera’s concept?” I wondered. When my husband got home, I told him, “I could only find an old Panamera brochure.” He said he’d been reading it before bed, so it was in the bedroom, and went to get it for me.

Then I opened it…

“Courage changes everything.”
There it was! I had the concept wrong! What’s more, I’d already written on the blog about how much I loved the concept “Courage changes everything.”
“Dare to dream and make your ideals a reality. Courage changes everything.”
As a Panamera fan, I’m embarrassed I didn’t spot the difference between the two concepts straight away.
What Is the Panamera’s Concept?
Let’s start over. The Panamera’s current concept is “Courage changes everything.” But what, exactly, has Porsche had the courage to change?
■Design.
A sports car in a luxury sedan. In other words, a car with a distinctive design that turns the traditional image of a sedan on its head.
It certainly looks more like a 911 now, and “a sports car in a luxury sedan” is exactly the right way to describe it.
■Engines.
The Panamera Turbo engine features twin-scroll turbochargers. By routing exhaust gases to the turbine wheels through separate paths, the system optimizes exhaust flow and delivers strong torque even at low engine speeds.
I’m no expert, so all I can really say after reading that is, “It sounds like it’s gotten a lot better.” But when I test-drove it, it was easy to feel that this Panamera was completely different from the previous one. My husband often explains the strong low-speed torque this way: “It’s like starting out on a bicycle already standing up on the pedals.” That makes sense.
■Light and Vision.
Every Panamera model comes with LED headlights. Their quick response and brightness contribute to advanced safety, while their light color, similar to natural daylight, helps reduce driver fatigue. Four-point daytime running lights, four-point brake lights, and three-dimensional taillights with a distinctive light strip make it instantly recognizable as a Porsche.
A light color close to natural daylight… I had no idea they’d thought of that, too. The rear now has a look similar to the previous-generation Carrera 4S, and Porsche plans to use this lighting design on a range of future models. That should make it easy to recognize a Panamera as a Porsche at a glance.
The Countdown to Delivery Is On
The brochure covered plenty more, but it made clear just how carefully Porsche has worked through both bold and subtle changes.

After reading the Panamera brochure and doing a little research, I’m starting to feel like I know more about the car than our dealership contact does…
Just seven more days until our Panamera is delivered!
