New Porsche 911 (992): The Specs My Husband Would Choose! — A Configurator Estimate
公開日:2019.03.01

Our Usual Configurator Ritual
Whenever Porsche releases a new model, my husband has made it a habit to open Porsche Japan’s car configurator and say, “If it were me, this is what I’d pick~,” while imagining the specs. Even though he’s not actually buying one, haha.(In the past, he even planned out specs for the new Cayenne.)
Since the new 911 (992) was announced last year, he’s been devouring YouTube and automotive media test drive reviews, and chatting with his car-loving brother on the phone, debating “this and that about the 992.”
So recently, he sent me the specs he came up with on the car configurator, saying, “If I were to buy the new 911, this would be it!” Looks like he really did it… haha.
With that, I thought I’d share the specs my husband put together for the new 911.
New 911 Carrera S
Currently, the new 911 lineup offers four models: “Carrera S,” “Carrera S Cabriolet,” “Carrera 4S,” and “Carrera 4S Cabriolet.” Among them, my husband chose the 911 Carrera S, and here are the options and specs he selected:

¥2,906,000 ¥19,566,000 |
Wow, the 911 really is expensive… 20 million yen for a brand-new car. Suddenly the Panamera feels like a real bargain. When I told my husband, “That’s a bit too pricey~,” he said:
“Yeah, but even so, I worked hard to keep the options under 3 million yen.”
By the way, here’s why he chose these specs:
– He aimed for specs suitable for commuting and shopping, but also for weekend winding road drives and long-distance touring. He basically thought from the perspective of someone who just loves driving.
– From past experience, he only picked options he thought would be truly useful.
– The interior and exterior colors are personal preference, but he chose interior materials he personally feels “should be included in a car costing nearly 20 million yen total.”
– Since only the S and 4S are currently available, he calculated with the S, but if a base model were available, he’d pick that and use the saved money to add PCCB or PDCC.
Makes sense.
Sporty Colors
The other day, I borrowed a yellow Cayman S as a loaner, and it was so beautiful that I thought again, “Porsche really suits bold, sporty colors.” So if it were me, I’d go for bright red, or
Miami Blue, which reminds me of the 718, would also be nice.
I used to think, “I’m not confident in my driving, so four-wheel drive would definitely be better,” but considering the performance of modern 911s, two-wheel drive is probably more than enough.
Recently, I’ve been getting comments on this blog like “I just reserved a 992!,” so soon we’ll start seeing 992s driving around town. I’m really looking forward to it.
