Grand Touring with Boxster GTS Vol.4] To Mt. Iwate from Kurikoma Yakeishi Hot Line

touring journal

I recently published a piece on theGrand Touring in a Boxster GTS Vol.3: From Bandaisan to Shinjo CityMy husband wrote the sequel to Please take a look if you would like to read it.

Boxster in the rain

The morning I awoke in Shinjo City to leaden skies. The rain continued to fall steadily, and the road surface was wet. We ate a late breakfast and left the hotel around 8:30.

Take the road to the east and drive on the empty R47.The rain was beating down on the windshield and the proverbial top was still closed. On the way to theIt enters R457, which runs through Miyagi Prefecture, this time heading north. On the way, we took a few wrong turns, but continued on a grade-A, fast-moving country road.

On the way to the Nishi-Iwai Regional Agricultural Road, you will find the "Nishiwai" area, which is a great place for farmers to farm.wide-area farm roadThe road was a great road that deserved to be called a "road to the future". In Japan, there are many wonderful wide-area farm roads throughout the country, with Okayama Prefecture's wide-area farm roads at the top of the list. Shobunsha has published a book called Touring Maple: Japan's Wide-Area Farm Roads Edition, which collects only wide-area farm roads in Japan.I just wish they would make a (laughs)

Famous road, Kurikoma Yakeishi Hot Line

And from here, the famous road continues. As the Boxster advances toward the Kurikoma Yakeishi Hot Line, a road with a spectacular view that could easily be used in a car manufacturer's commercial spreads out. From the Kansai people's point of view, the scale is too big to envy and the scenery too wonderful! The road is rather straight, so it is not suitable for aggressive driving. The road is rather straight, so it is not suitable for aggressive driving. The balance between moderate to medium-high speed corners and the shores of Lake Oshu is very good.

Boxster

The road is new and the pavement is perfect. There were few cars and the weather was gradually improving. We cruised around in the Boxster, taking our time to enjoy the scenery and the road. It was a great time. I know I have said this many times in this blog, but let me say it again.

The Boxster is great."

furthermoreWe were heading north on R107 toward Lake Kinshu while blasting on K37.However, we found a road closure sign on the way. Apparently, the road's slope was in danger of collapsing due to the storms of the past few days.

Suddenly, we changed our planned route and headed back the way we came. On the way, we noticed that the Boxster was quite dirty from the rain and wind, so we stopped at a car wash we happened to see and gave it a light wash. We rinsed it with water, removed the mud and dirt from the long trip, wiped it clean, and were done.

The refreshed Boxster decides to head toward Morioka City on K13. The K13 was flowing at a surprisingly good pace, allowing us to drive at a comfortable speed.

Running around Mt.

As one moves northward, the majestic Mount Iwate gradually approaches. There are many famous peaks in Tohoku, such as Mt. Iwaki, Mt. Chokaisan, Mt. Hakkouda, etc. Among them, I personally love the sight of Mt.It is a large and majestic figure standing sideways. The majestic figure of the temple, standing tall and stately on its side, gives one a sense of security and peace of mind, and one strongly senses the aura of a guardian deity of the area.

It was too early to go to the hotel in Morioka City, so we decided to take a walk around K219, where Koiwai Farm is located. After passing through the traffic jam in the city, we entered K219, where a straight road continues. I had seenGermany, where we drove a Porsche on our honeymoon.I drove the Boxster, thinking that the atmosphere was similar to the roads in the forest of

Boxster and Mt.

It was a wonderful experience to ride on the plateau, whipping the Boxster as if riding a horse with Mount Iwate by my side, while strolling along farm roads along the way, and the sound of the Boxster echoing with pleasure.

As the sun was setting, we returned to Morioka City and arrived at our hotel.Tomorrow we plan to run the full course of the Hachinohe-Kawauchi large-scale forest road, a famous road in the world.I should be tired from all the driving I did today, but I can't sleep because I can't control my eagerness to get out of bed.

I'm not the type of person who drinks at all, but the only alcoholic beverage that I think tastes good ".being tipsyI drank the "I'm dizzy" and fell asleep dizzy from all this (laughs).

Hi, I always enjoy reading your blog!

I always read that you are touring to various places and wonder how you can run so well... lol.

In a book titled "Dandy Talk" by automotive critic Aritsune Tokudaiji, he writes, "It is not 'comfort' that makes long-distance driving possible, but 'pleasure. It is 'pleasure' that makes long distance driving possible." I was struck in the knees when I read that at ‼︎. I think the 981GTS may have the kind of pleasure that makes you want to keep on driving!

Thank you for visiting our blog.

      >It is not 'comfort' that makes long distance driving possible. It's the 'pleasure' that makes the long drive possible.
Oooooooh!!! That expression, exactly...! Tokudaiji-san left various wise words, and I was reminded once again that he was truly an amazing person.

It seems that my husband still has many more roads he wants to travel in the future (laughs).
Thank you for your continued support.

    Hi Mina.

Finally, the touring season is coming to a climax.
I am looking at it with nostalgia as I see various places that I know the land.

In particular, the scenery around Koiwai Farm and the Iwate Plateau and Amihari Ski Resort in the background.
I really miss the scenery, etc.
This area is also home to Koiwai Farm, which has a bit of a nice atmosphere.

The Kuzuneda River tributary near here used to be a treasure trove of iwana, and I often went fishing there.
    I went.

In hindsight, there are a lot of roads that would be pleasant for touring.
    There were.
    I will go back.

      Thank you!
As I read the touring diary, I was reminded once again that there are many beautiful roads in Japan.
It would be so nice to run while looking at the farm.

I also think it is very important to run while you can, while these beautiful scenery and roads are still available.

I, too, would love to hit the roads of the Northeast!
