Driving on the highway for the first time in a Porsche 911 GT3!

Reviews & Test Rides

On the highway in a 911 GT3.

As I've blogged about briefly, my husband is taking the Porsche Track Experience (PTE) Master course, so the other day we decided to head up to Fuji as a family.

My husband takes PTE in GT3, so all 4 family members can't ride in one car.So, inevitably, we had to take two cars, and I was headed there in my BMW 320i.(The Panamera was in pretty questionable tire condition.)

I never thought I would be driving two manual cars to Fuji...lol

We drove down the highway, and when we came to Hamamatsu SA, my husband

"Since we're at it...Want to try highway driving with GT3?It's crazy stable, and even more impressive than usual."

He told me that he would take over driving.

It's been a long time since I've driven a GT3, and I drive it by myself, without my husband by my side.I'm a little nervous.I thought to myself, "What the heck?" but I adjusted the seat position firmly, stepped on the clutch, and started the engine. The engine noise was so loud that people near the parking lot turned around and said, "What? (laugh).

For some reason, the clutch felt very light on this day. "Hey, was the GT3 clutch this light? I guess I can do this.I thought, "I'm going to go to the service area," so I asked my husband to follow behind me, and we started off slowly and went to the merge point from the service area exit.

Actually, I had never run more than 60 km/h with my GT3.(I mean, what have you been doing all this time?)I had never experienced the feeling of solid acceleration before, but when I pushed down on the accelerator pedal in 4th gear, the speedometer went crazy in no time...!

Moreover, there is no sense of speed or fear at all because of the tremendous sense of stability.

I was able to merge safely, and I tried driving in the passing lane, butWhat surprised me was the precision of the GT3.It felt as if the engineers had put their souls into creating this car with great precision, care, and without a single millimeter of compromise or deviation. It was also noticeably smoother than when driving on ordinary roads.

When I was given a test drive of the BMW M2 just a few weeks ago, I was very impressed, but my husband was not.

I don't know...then I thought 320 would be more balanced."

I thought I understood why he said that.

The GT3 is truly a different kind of car.

In other words, I thought that once people got to know the GT3, they would never be impressed by any other sports car unless they were very familiar with it.(My husband recently said, "On the contrary, I'd like to drive a Rolls-Royce or something.)

Taste the acceleration of GT3

Well, the high speed stability of GT3 is amazing.Low vehicle weight, stiff and stable, and the higher the speed, the more stable the vehicle becomes.I felt as if I had been there before. When I drove through Ashiu before, I was told that "So much power, I don't know what to do!But on the highway, I was able to drive calmly and relaxed, perhaps due in part to the lack of speed, and for the first time, I was able to calmly and calmly ".GT3 is such a car.I feel like I could feel it.

Also, when driving on the highway in the 320i, it wasn't very often that the car in front of me would slow me down, but with the GT3, I was able to get a good view of the road.Even if you are driving at a considerable distance, the car in front of you will keep on going. So, it was very easy to run.

I guess these are some of the things that make driving a Porsche easy.

Entering the tunnel, at a moment when the car in front of me was pulling out, I downshifted to 5th gear and accelerated a little more boldly, and the sound of the GT3 engine echoed throughout the tunnel.

What a feeling!

The heavy bass sound coming from the ground, like a racing car, reverberated through the tunnel, and I couldn't help but think to myself, "I've never heard anything like that before.Wow!I drove away with a smirk on my face, yelling, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

But there was a lot of traffic on the highway that day.If I drop to 4th gear and accelerate, it's going to be a big mess. But, on the other hand, I would have stepped on the gas pedal endlessly otherwise, so this was a good thing for safe driving.

I drove for a while, and at a service area on the way, I took over driving again, but my husband

The GT3 is a car made with soul, it's really different from other cars!

I said excitedly.

Right? You finally figured it out?

(smirking).

However, the GT3 will really show its true value on a race track.(I can't run very, very fast.)I would love to hear from my husband what he thought of driving the GT3 on the circuit.

Let's drive GT3 again soon.

Mina.
