My Beloved Swift Sport
My Swift Sport was delivered in October two years ago.
Since then, I’ve driven it in various situations—around town, on mountain roads like the Royu Driveway, on highways… sometimes with my family of five, sometimes alone.
I remember once, right after I drove my husband’s 911 (964 model), getting back into the Swift Sport and thinking, “It’s not fair to compare, but the 964’s solid feel and suspension are incredible. Compared to that, the Swift Sport feels a bit light on its feet.”
And when driving on the highway with all five family members, I sometimes felt, “The road-hugging feel is a bit lacking, making me a little uneasy.”
But recently, after going full circle—actually, many times over—I’ve come to reaffirm that “The Swift Sport is an incredibly fun car and the best value for money out there!”
In fact, just the other day, I received a message on my blog:
After asking about space, my parents replaced their car at my family home with a Swift Sport. They test-drove it before signing the contract, and besides the car’s balance, my parents were amazed at how affordable the maintenance package was—just like what Mina-san mentioned. My parents even joked, “Are you sure there’s no mistake in the digits?” (laughs)
Reading that message made me smile without even realizing it. w
Swift Sport: The Ultimate Cost Performance
Of course, if I had a bigger budget, there are cars with higher performance and quality in design, interior, and driving. But the Swift Sport’s cost performance is so amazing that it makes you question, “Is this really just a little over 2 million yen new for this quality!?” That’s what makes it so special.
Exterior & Interior Value
My Swift Sport is a model with a two-tone roof (Burning Red Pearl Metallic), 6-speed manual transmission, hood decal, side decals, fuel lid cover, floor mats, Suzuki Safety Support equipped, and no all-around monitor camera package, priced at about 2.2 million yen new.
The instrument cluster looks sharp even in the standard spec, and I love the seat texture.
I’m often asked, “Are the wheels optional?” but these wheels come standard on the Swift Sport.
To get such a cool and cute finish at this price is truly amazing.
Driving Value
The other day, I drove the Swift Sport alone on the Meishin Expressway.
It felt stable, planted, and acceleration was strong. It pulls hard even from 6th gear.
Being able to drive a car with this kind of performance in a manual is incredibly fun. It runs light and free, and driving it felt fantastic.
After all, the Swift Sport is a car made for solo driving. It’s when you’re alone that its performance and lightness truly shine, and I was reminded of that again.
Then, while browsing the Swift Sport’s website, I found this passage:
The Ultimate Driving Pleasure
Like syncing your limbs and breath,
the thrill of running as one with your car.
Shift gears, press the accelerator,
and the direct-injection turbo engine accelerates your sporty passion.
For flawless driving, safety features are uncompromisingly perfected.
No matter how far you drive,
it never stops stirring your desire
to “drive more.”
That’s exactly right!
A car that never stops igniting your desire to “drive more” and offers unbeatable value—that’s the Swift Sport.
If you’re interested, I highly recommend you take a test drive at least once—you might be surprised. (I’m not sponsored by Suzuki; just a genuine fan’s thoughts. w)
