Recommended Mineral Off Car Wash
公開日:2023.02.11

Last year, a Keeper Labo opened nearby, so I’ve been frequently visiting for coating and car washes for my beloved vehicles.
I plan to write a detailed article about coating another time, but this time, I want to introduce Keeper Labo’s “Mineral Off Car Wash.” Please note, this article is not a typical promotional piece for Keeper.
It’s simply my honest impression after personally paying for the service.

What is Mineral Off Car Wash?
If you have a car with body coating applied, have you ever experienced that even before the manufacturer’s stated durability or lifespan is up, the water repellency gradually worsens and the gloss and shine don’t look as good as before?
You might wonder if the coating quality was poor or if the installer was at fault.
However, the cause is often said to be minerals that have adhered on top of the coating.

Minerals contained in rain, tap water, and groundwater adhere to the coating surface, hindering water repellency and dulling the gloss. If left untreated, this can also cause ion deposits.
Mineral Off Car Wash is a washing method that removes this mineral film without affecting the coating at all.
Trying the Mineral Off Car Wash
Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (992)
This Porsche is a 2019 model, and the dealer applied body coating when it was new.
I’ve been driving it for about two and a half years, storing it indoors and washing it whenever it got dirty, treating it relatively carefully. However, for some reason, it seemed to get rained on often, and I think I drove in rainy weather quite a bit.
The body itself doesn’t have any noticeable polishing scratches, but recently, even after washing, the body’s gloss looked dull, and the water repellency was completely gone.
So, I decided to try the Mineral Off Car Wash once at the nearby Keeper Labo.
The wash takes about an hour, but when it was done, I was amazed. The body’s gloss was fully restored to a new-car shine, as if a layer of dirt film had been removed. The surface felt smooth to the touch, and the water repellency was perfect. I realized anew how beautiful the Aventurine Green body color really is.
I had been thinking about reapplying the coating, but I never expected it to revive this much with just the Mineral Off Car Wash.
It’s hard to fully capture its beauty in photos, but the dullness was gone and the gloss was significantly revived. Even my wife was surprised by the change when she saw the car after I got home.
Boxster GTS (981)
Among our Porsches, the Boxster GTS is the one I use most intensively for touring and the one I love the most. About three years ago, it received a W Diamond Keeper coating at a nearby Keeper Pro Shop. Since then, I’ve done nothing but wash it when it got dirty.
The body color is plain white, but recently I felt it had taken on a slight yellowish tint. When parked next to another white 981 Boxster, the color tone looked a bit different, and I started noticing some cloudiness and dullness.
So, I decided to try the Mineral Off Car Wash on this car as well.
The change was beyond my expectations. The white that had looked slightly yellowish was restored to a pure “white.”
The transparency was fully revived, and the level of shine was completely different. I was amazed at how white it really was.
Recommended for These Cars
If your car is coated but you’ve started to notice dullness or cloudiness and the water repellency has dropped, it’s worth considering this treatment.
Especially cars that have had coating applied over a year ago. Also, cars frequently washed with non-purified water at home or elsewhere, or those driven often in rainy weather, may unknowingly have mineral films adhering to their surfaces.
The cost is around 8,000 to 10,000 yen, so it’s more expensive than a regular wash, but it’s worth doing about once a year as part of your beloved car’s maintenance.
