Recommendation for mineral-off car wash

My Family's Car Life

Last year, Keeper Labo opened in my neighborhood, and I frequently go there to coat and wash my cars.

I'll elaborate on the coating article another time.In this issue, we introduce "Mineral Off Car Wash" by KeeperLab.I will try to do so. This article is not an advertisement for a keeper, which is often the case.

This is simply my impression of the service on my own dime.

What is a mineral-off car wash?

A car that has had a body coating applied and has not yet reached the durability or life expectancy suggested by the manufacturer.Have you ever experienced that as the months go by, the water repellency gradually deteriorates and the gloss and shine are not as good as they used to be?

Was the quality of the coating bad, or was the installer at fault? You may be tempted to wonder.

However, much of this is said to be caused by minerals adhering to the top of the coating.

Mechanism of Mineral Deposition on Car Body

Minerals are found in rain, tap water, and groundwater, and when they adhere to the coating, they inhibit water repellency and reduce gloss. If left untreated, they can cause ion deposits.

A mineral-off car wash is a car wash method that does not affect the coating at all, but removes its adhered mineral film.

Try a mineral-off car wash.

Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (992)

This Porsche is a 2019 and has had a body coating applied by the dealer when new.

I have been driving the vehicle for about two and a half years, but it has been stored indoors, washed when dirty, and treated relatively carefully. However, for some reason, I think it was often rained on and driven in wet weather.

The body itself doesn't have any particular polishing flaws.Recently, even after washing, the shine on the body looked dull and the water repellency was not good at all.

So once I tried a mineral-off car wash at a local keeper lab.

The car wash will take about an hour, but when it is over, you will be amazed. The body has completely regained the shine of a new car, and it looks as if a film of dirt has been removed. It feels smooth to the touch and has no water repellency issues. The body color, aventurine green, was so beautiful. I was reminded again how beautiful the body color, aventurine green, is.

At one time I was thinking of reapplying the coating, but I never expected that a mineral-off car wash would revive the car so much.

Although it is difficult to express the beauty of the car in a photograph, the dullness has been removed and the glossy look has been considerably restored. My wife was also surprised at the change when she saw the car after returning home.

Boxster GTS (981)

It is the hardest touring Porsche in our family. My most beloved Porsche, the Boxster GTS, had a W Diamond Keeper coating applied about 3 years ago at a local keeper pro store. After that, the vehicle will be a vehicle that has been washed only when it gets dirty, without doing anything at all.

The body color is simply white, but recently I had noticed a slight yellow tint to it. When placed side by side with a white 981 Boxster of the same color, the color tones were slightly different, and I began to notice a slight cloudiness and dullness.

Therefore, we decided to try a mineral-off car wash for this vehicle as well.

Then, too, this car was more of a change than I had imagined. The white that looked slightly yellowish turned into a perfect "white.

The transparency is completely restored and the level of brilliance is different. Was it really this white? I was so surprised.

Mineral-off car wash is recommended for these vehicles

Cars that have been coated but are starting to look dull and cloudy, and have lost their water repellency, may want to give this a second look.

This is especially true for cars that have been coated for more than a year. In addition, cars that are often washed with non-pure water at home, or cars that are frequently driven in the rain may have mineral film on them without being noticed.

Cost is around 8,000 to 10,000 yen, so more expensive than a regular car wash. But it is a good idea to install it at least once a year as part of the maintenance of your car.

Hi, I always enjoy reading your blog!

I had W Diamond applied to my roadster last January, but since the fall it has been difficult to repel water, and when it rains, the water spreads out like a gooey mess!

I just had the coating maintained this past January, and it restored the water repellency, as if the car had been given a mineral-off wash!

It looks beautiful when it repels water properly, and it reminds me once again to take good care of it, so I'll get a mineral-off car wash when it gets hard to repel water again eventually!

      Hello 168.

I see. When you maintain it, it also takes away the mineral content.
      It would be beautiful!

I was reminded once again that even with coatings, maintenance is still important.
I'll try to do it at least once a year!

Hi Mina and Hiro, nice to meet you. I always enjoy seeing your work.

In fact, I am buying a Porsche for the first time in my life (Macan S), and since my order went through, I have been referring to it every day.

Since I am from Aichi Prefecture, all the cars I have driven up until now have been Toyotas (including Lexus).

I've never driven a real sports car like a Porsche before, and I don't know a damn thing about engines, transmissions, etc.

I am very interested in Porsche maintenance costs, insurance premiums, fuel economy, car washing, and other matters that are realistically necessary on a day-to-day basis.

So, I have a question. I believe that Hiro mentioned in this blog that he is going to have ProKeeper applied instead of the manufacturer's coating.

I seem to recall that you raised a post to the effect that there are many different types of pro keepers and I am not sure which one to choose.

We are planning to purchase a Crayon Macan S. What type of ProKeeper do you recommend that will match this body color?

I apologize that my first comment is full of questions.

Apparently my Macan S is set for March production, so I guess Mina's 911 will be delivered sooner, but we're both looking forward to it!

Thank you for your continued support.

      Hello, S. of Ashiya.

Thanks for keeping up with my blog!

      Crayon makan, I love it!
I see them around town sometimes, and I think they're insanely cool!

Among the Keepers, I would prefer the new coating series EX-Keeper, ECO Plus Diamond, and Fresh-Keeper.
I think these should be decided according to your budget, but if you do a lot of blue sky parking, I think a good coating with EX or ECO Diamond would be a good idea.
In my case, I use fresh keepers because I basically store them indoors and I have decided that it is more cost-effective to do inexpensive, one-year ones every year rather than expensive, three-year ones.
Besides, based on various information and my experience, indoor storage often lasts longer than the manufacturer's durability, so I actually think it is unlikely to be ruined in a year. So I am of the school of thought that a cheap coating is sufficient.

      For your information!

Thanks for your always informative articles!

I immediately had my sapphire blue 991 (about 1.5 years after the glass coating was applied), which had recently been suffering from dull skin, given a mineral-off wash.

First, the shine has been restored. The gloss has clearly increased.

And the most impressive thing was the restoration of water repellent performance.
It has become so water-repellent that it reminds me of when I first bought it.

I had been curious about it but was hesitant because it was a bit expensive, but after reading this article, I immediately made a reservation. As a result, I am very satisfied.

I'm not getting paid by the keepers either, but I do recommend the "annual mineral off" to all car enthusiasts around here!

    • HiroHiro

      Hi MKEN!

I see you tried the mineral-off car wash ASAP!
I knew you could feel the effects!

Even if you normally think your car is clean, it will look different when you actually do a mineral-off car wash.
I too was very surprised when I first did it.
I'm planning to do mine once a year as a reward for my car.
