A word to our readers
Although I am a young man who will turn 24 this year, I took the plunge and bought a Porsche for my first personal car.If I can help someone like myself who is interested in Porsche at a young age.I think.

(1) Background leading to purchase

Do something that makes life fun.

I've always been interested in cars, and after my first year in the workforce, I decided that I wanted to be a part of the "inI want to drive a supercar someday.I began to have a vague idea of my goal of

When I actually started working, there was a period of time when I was losing my energy because of the work environment, the treatment I was getting, and the fact that I had also broken up with my girlfriend, but at one point, I said, "You know what? This is not good! Let's do something new that will make life fun!I thought to myself, "I've got to do this.... This was the first time I thought about purchasing the product.

Why did you buy a Porsche?

My father is also a car enthusiast and drives a BMW, but since he rarely drivesA situation in which I have the luxury of riding freely in a BMWIt was.

I was driving a 523i, so I was trying to differentiate myself about the car I was buying.2-door, MR, MT", the exact opposite of F10 523i's "4-door, RWD, ATI thought about buying a

in additionThe engine is big, it's easy to carry, it doesn't break down much, and it has a cool interior."The 981 Cayman met all of these criteria.

I had been looking for a Cayman in Agate Gray MT, so it was difficult to find one, but the one that finally came up was in good condition and the sales person in charge gave it a push, so I decided to go with this Cayman.

No other MR car can carry so much luggage.I think. I think it is possible to carry one golf bag, depending on the type, and two golf bags in the 987 model.

What was the deciding factor?

It is that the loan was approved. You are trying to buy a car that is more than twice your annual income."No way the loan will go through.I was thinking inwardly, "I'm not going to be able to do that.

I was ready to give up if the loan did not go through.

(2) Options/Specifications

I bought it used, so I don't know all the details.Sport steering wheel, carbon upholstery, sport exhaust, all-leather interior.etc. seem to be attached.

The previous owner has done quite a bit of work to it, including a carbon lip, bucket seats, ducktail(?), and a spoiler. The spoiler and dampers also seem to be external.

In addition to that.Have wheels painted black and color crests installed upon deliveryI had it done. I would like to yellow the calipers when I can afford it.

The steering wheel is on the left. "Imported cars have a blinker control bar on the left, so it would be better to have separate hands for shifting and blinker operation. We decided to use the left-hand drive because we thought "it's a good idea to have a left-hand drive.

But it is difficult to get a parking ticket.(In urban standing parking, there is often a ticketing machine on the left side as well.)

(3) Process of vehicle delivery

Go to the store, make sure the loan is going to go through, andI started looking at the end of December 2018 and the car was delivered in April 2019.It was. If you are not particular about "body color" and "MT," I don't think you will have to wait this long.

(4) Porsche's performance that you feel when you own one.

(1) Engine

It blows up well, especially the sound is very nice and satisfying, maybe because it's MR, but I can hear the mechanical sounds very well, so I'm very happy with it."The feeling of being in control of the carIt increases the number of "I'm sorry.

2) MT

What I originally had was a limited AT license.I decided, "I'm buying a Cayman," and while they were looking for one that met my criteria, I lifted the restrictions. So, the only MT car I have driven other than the Cayman is a learner's car.

So I'm not sure I understand some of it.The 981 Cayman's manual transmission has a habit of cocking the shift lever!I'm not sure.

Even if the engine stalls, the engine will start automatically when you step on the brake and clutch. So, although it is a luxury, I think it is a beginner-friendly MT car.

However, the handbrake is electronic and automatically Holds on most hills, but if it's automatic, it's "automatic".When will it be released?I don't know what the "I don't know" is, and it's hard to do the opposite. If it's a subtle slope, it won't Hold.Often, it is also the case that

Handling / Braking

This is in comparison to the 523i.

It bends so much! It turns amazingly well! I'm going about the speed I'm supposed to be going and it turns with plenty of room to spare!"

I feel that the car is still good, but I am still too scared to give it my best performance. The car is still good, but I feel that I am too scared to give it my best performance. I feel sorry for Cayman.

Conversely, the "I'm afraid of what comes after we've gone over the edge.Porsche driving lessons to learn the limits of this car and to be able to deal with it properly even after exceeding the limits.(Porsche Truck Experience)I am thinking of going to

As for the brakes, although this is just under normal use on ordinary roads, the 523i has a larger brake pedal margin than the Cayman, and the brakes are more sticky and do not apply with a gulp even if you step on them a little harder, whereas the 523i has a larger brake pedal margin than the Cayman, and the brakes do not apply with a gulp even if you step on them a little harder.Cayman has a sharp braking action with little margin, but not a sudden and harsh braking.I felt as if I had been there.

Although this is a sporting awareness to some extent.Difference in concept between the 523i, a four-door sedan that emphasizes ride comfort, and the Cayman, a two-door sports carI think it will be.

I think the difference will be more noticeable in circuit driving and descending mountain passes.(Mina also recently purchased a BMW and I am curious how you feel it compares to the Porsche).

When I go to my grandmother's house in Fukuoka, I drive her car, an Aqua, and that brake is scary. I had to step on the brake just a little bit and the brake would hit with a clunk, clunk, clunk until I got used to it lol.

Next page→What is the Cayman's fuel economy, ride quality, and circuit driving...?

It is wonderful that you bought a Cayman at such a young age.

I'm merely a layman with a long history of MT.

    > Heel toe is not possible at all, especially since it is an organ type accelerator pedal, which is very difficult to do.

I have never felt that it was difficult to shift because of the organ system. All of my cars before I started driving Cayman were suspension type, but I could downshift almost the same way as I did in my previous car, B4. By the way, my Cayman was without the sprockets.

In fact, unlike the suspended type, the pedals are all the way down, so the angle of heel-twist is smaller.

One possible situation in which heel-and-toe is difficult in a Cayman (Porsche) is when the brake is applied very weakly and there is almost no need to heel-and-toe in the first place. In this case, the brake pedal is located quite high, which naturally makes it somewhat difficult to accelerate with the heel. In the case of the Porsche, my impression is that the height relationship with the accelerator pedal is perfect with the brake pedal firmly depressed.

If you are driving leisurely on a mountain pass on a public road with the engine running at medium RPM, and there is no need to slow down before a corner, but you want to downshift, you can blip your toe and downshift before applying the brake. Sorry if I am off the mark.

      Thank you!
I will let Takemaru-san know about your comment!

      >My impression is that in the case of the Porsche, the height relationship with the gas pedal is perfect when the brake is firmly depressed.
My husband said the same thing as PorscheDreamer. I was reminded of the depth of Porsche's design and that I guess we usually only realize the tip of the iceberg.

Thank you so much for your always informative comments!

    PorscheDreamer.

    Nice to meet you!
My name is Takemaru, the owner of this Cayman.

PorscheDreamer's envisioned situation, you are absolutely right: !!!!
I was trying to practice in situations where I don't need to heel-and-toe as PorscheDreamer mentioned when stopping or decelerating in everyday city driving, so the brakes are quite shallow.
It seems difficult to practice heel-and-toe unless you are in a situation where you can brake with gusto,...

    Very helpful, thank you PorscheDreamer!

    Nice to meet you, Takemaru-san.

    Mina.
I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to return your comment in preference to Mina's, but please forgive me.

I saw it as a little reminiscent of a long time ago.
As an exercise, I think I have tried stepping on the brake while stopped (can be done with engine off) and twisting the heel to the right without changing the force of the brake. If it works, try the same when decelerating while driving.
Next, the driver should also practice stepping on the brake while the car is stationary (engine running, engine in neutral, side brake engaged) and accelerating with the heel without changing the force of the brake. It is OK if you can accelerate as much as you like with your heel, just as you would normally accelerate.
It is also a good idea to know approximately how many revolutions you will be able to make in each gear at what speed. It would be OK if you can downshift without shock while blipping with your toe while driving at a constant speed. I used to drive at 80km/h on the highway (as much as I could without paying attention to my surroundings, of course), downshifting from 6th to 5th to 4th to 3rd to 2nd gear and back up again. I remember that cars back then only had 5th gear.

No, not at all! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, either.
I'm so glad you commented this way!

Thank you for your continued support.

    Good evening!
I am glad to meet you

    Interesting story.
    Heel toe is cool ( ^ω^ )
I am also in the process of training.
    At the Circuit
    Smoothly and safely if possible.
The speed can be slowed down.

    quite (usu. negative connotation)
It's the one that doesn't settle well.
    I'm sorry.
This is something you just have to practice.

    Let's work hard for each other ( ^ω^ )

    PorscheDreamer.
I'm so glad you gave me all the details on how to practice! Thank you!
I'd like to say that I'm going to practice right away, but actually, I got hit by a Cayman at a convenience store....
I'll leave it with you until I get back from the repair!
I'll be practicing on an Asset Corsa and a Hankon!!!

    Mr. Cara.
It must be a great feeling when you get it right!
We will do our best to make you feel that good!
    Let's go for it.
