Lately, I’ve been thinking… If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may have noticed: lately, I’ve started to get interested in the 911… (-_-) The car that first made me fall in love with Porsche was the Panamera. For lifelong Porsche fans, falling for the brand through a Panamera might seem like heresy—they might even dismiss it by saying, “You haven’t experienced a real Porsche.” But after driving a 911 and a...

What It Takes to Make Cars a Shared Passion in Marriage: A Porsche-Loving Wife’s Perspective

When Cars Become a Shared Passion I often get comments and messages on the blog saying things like, “I’m envious that you and your spouse share a love of cars.” It got me thinking, so I recently wrote this post. → Related: The Biggest Reason Wives Object to Their Husbands Buying a Porsche After publishing it, I received a message that read: “If a household is like a company, then a wife is a co-owner....

Why Do Wives Oppose Their Husbands Buying a Porsche?

Share Your Love of Cars as a Couple Every now and then, I get comments and messages on the blog saying things like, “I’m jealous that you and your husband can share a passion for cars.” It makes me wonder: are most wives really not that interested in cars? Until about three years ago, I had absolutely no interest in cars. In fact, I used to think, “Cars are such a luxury—we don’t need one...

Which Options Are Must-Haves When Buying a Porsche Panamera?

How the Previous and New Panamera Compare Our first Panamera arrived in February 2016: a facelifted 970 Panamera Edition in Carrara White. It had a naturally aspirated engine with wonderfully smooth acceleration, and even with its conventional steel springs, it rode beautifully. It was such a fantastic car that my husband and I thought, “There’s no way the new Panamera could top this.” In October 2017, we said goodbye to the Panamera Edition and welcomed...

5 Things My Husband Did to Win Over His Car-Indifferent Wife and Buy a Porsche

I Thought I’d Be a Lifelong Non-Driver For about 10 years after getting my license, I was a licensed driver in name only. I got my license at 18, but by the time I turned 30, I’d driven a car only two or three times. Naturally, I had a spotless driving record—and I believed that “cars are more trouble than they’re worth. If I ever buy one, a used kei car will be more than...

Why Wives Say No When Their Husbands Want to Buy a Porsche

When Husband and Wife See Porsche Ownership Differently Online, I often come across posts like these: “I told my wife I wanted to buy a Porsche, and she said no,” or “My wife wouldn’t approve of a Porsche, so we ended up with a family car instead.” I don’t know the details of each situation, but it’s hardly surprising that a wife might say no if her husband suddenly announces, “I want to buy a...

Inside the New Porsche Panamera Turbo Ordering Process

Ordering the New Panamera Turbo Last weekend, I finally went to the dealership to complete the final paperwork for our new Panamera Turbo. This car is seriously impressive: it set a world-record lap time for its class at Germany’s Nürburgring—7 minutes and 38 seconds. @ Image courtesy of Porsche Panamera Turbo Experience For comparison, I tried driving the same Nürburgring circuit in a video game. I kept missing corners and crashing into things, and after...
