Porsche’s 70th Anniversary Fair

Yesterday, I stopped by the Porsche 70th Anniversary Fair at my local Porsche Center. I also needed an oil change before heading to Fuji Speedway on June 16 and 17, so it was the perfect opportunity. (I’ll share the cost and details of the oil change in a later post.)

And, to be honest, I was also hoping to get the promotional placemat(笑)

My husband said he’d look after the girls, so I’d planned to go by myself. But my older daughter insisted on coming along—(she secretly adores H, our Porsche Center contact, haha)—so the two of us headed over.

A Variety of Porsches

Every time I visit the Porsche Center, I enjoy checking out the different Porsches that customers have driven in. There were plenty of interesting cars there yesterday, too.

It also felt as though there were more classic Porsches than usual driving around the area. Inside, the “Porsche 70th Anniversary” logo and posters were everywhere.

I found myself wondering how the costs of events like this are split between the Porsche Center and Porsche Japan. Even if Porsche Japan supplies the posters and stickers, I doubt they’re free. Providing promotional gifts, decorating the showroom, sending out invitations—the expense and effort must really add up.

Sure, lots of people come by, but many are probably there for the 70th Anniversary Fair rather than to discuss buying a car. I wonder how it works out for the dealership. Still, I suppose they have to put on an event like this—and that can’t be easy for the staff.

I was musing about all this, which, from the dealership’s point of view, was probably “absolutely none of my business.”

Porsches Wearing 70th Anniversary Stickers

Looking closely, I noticed that every Porsche on display had a “70th” sticker on it!

A 718 Boxster,

a 911 Carrera S,

and even a Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo!

Amazing! I want to put one of those stickers on our Panamera, too (゚∀゚)(笑). My daughter seemed to be enjoying the celebratory atmosphere as much as I was.

With the oil change done, we headed home with this year’s promotional gifts.

More Than Just a Placemat

When I opened the package, there was the placemat I’d been hoping for,

and a black laptop sleeve as well!

Would you look at that—it’s a perfect fit for my Mac (゚∀゚)!(Well, I guess it would fit most laptops.)

The laptop sleeve I’d been using was at least five years old. The zipper was broken, and it was covered in stains from juice my daughter had spilled. It was looking pretty shabby. I’d thought about replacing it, but never quite got around to it—and three years went by. This came along at just the right time!

I might even be happier about the laptop sleeve than the placemat.

By the way, the laptop sleeve wasn’t one of the official gifts for the 70th Anniversary Fair, so you won’t get one just by visiting during the event. It was entirely thanks to the kindness of H, our Porsche Center contact. I’m so grateful.

The 70th Anniversary Fair is on again next weekend, so why not drop by your local Porsche Center?^^
