What if I, a woman, drive the new Porsche 911 GT3 (992 type)?

Reviews & Test Rides

New 911 GT3 Touring (992 type)

Not long ago, I was allowed to drive the new 911 GT3 touring package (992 type / PDK).My husband also drove on the day and wrote a test drive articleSo I would like to write what I felt frankly when I was allowed to drive.

Until then, I had seen the new GT3 in photos and videos, but for the first time on this day, I saw the new GT3 with my own eyes, and I was so excited. It's really cool! With great excitement, I inadvertently leaked my heart's voice.

Porsche 911 GT3 (992)

A new design with an impression that sharpness is stronger than softness, and a featherless GT3 touring package.

The aura is clearly different from the normal 911, but there are no wings. If you look closely,There is a GT3 badge on the rear grille, which tells you that it's a GT3.Even though I don't insist, it makes me feel terrible from the oozing personality.

A talented hawk is smart enough to hide its clawsBut I really like it.

The owner's sense was also very good, and it was nice to finish the GT3 with a calm atmosphere for adults.

Impressions of Porsche 911 GT3 test drive

The GT3 I was allowed to drive this time is a PDK.My family used to have aThere is a late 991 GT3 (MT),Also, I would like to write about the differences from when I got on the 991 early / late GT3 (PDK) of an acquaintance.

GT3 which is the easiest to drive

I've only driven the GT3 a few times, so I don't think it can be said unconditionally ...It was the easiest GT3 I've ever driven.I was able to drive comfortably.

The 991 GT3, which used to be in my house, was the moment I got in and grabbed the steering wheel. All right, let's run! There is a feeling that it will be in battle mode, especially when running on the Ashi Driveway etc."I can still go!" "I can run more and more!"I didn't feel like driving comfortably.

However, this 992 type GT3 was very easy to drive.

There is no sense of speed, and you can drive comfortably and humming. But when I suddenly looked at the meter, "circle! It was pretty fast!I'm surprised.

Porsche 911 GT3 (992)

First from the owner, "It may be difficult to drive because there is no creep phenomenonHowever, I didn't feel any discomfort, and I felt very comfortable with the feeling that it would move as it was, just by putting a little force on the accelerator.

It was just after delivery, and I was allowed to ride it when the mileage was only 100km, so "The brakes are still very hard, so be careful", But surely even if you step on it as usual,"that! I still don't have enough power to step on it!There was a scene.

However, I wonder if this point will be gradually resolved as I ride.

Great handling

The handling of GT3 is amazing. It bends insanely, but it bends too much and is scaryI never feel that. Anyway, it feels good. "I wish the curve at this angle would continue for about another kilometer and continue to bend forever. It felt so good that I thought.

When I got on the GT3 of 991, it was so wonderful handling that "I often talked with my husband that the new model will exceed this in the future, as expected, but "There was still more, Porsche is amazing.I was reminded of this again.

This time, as expected, "To be honest, isn't it impossible for GT3 to outperform this?I felt, but Porsche will exceed this again ... (laugh)

Ride quality is not as bad as I expected

The ride quality was not as hard as I expected. In advance, on youtube and test drive review, "Hard, hardI heard that "How hard is it ...I think that I was prepared to get on the train, and because I was allowed to drive on the Ashi Driveway, I think that I may not be driving on a general road with a lot of traffic and waiting for traffic lights.

But I can ride more than I imagined! It was an impression.

However, from the owner, "No, the fact that this isn't that hard is because Mina's senses are already paralyzed.I was told (laughs)

PDK suits me better than MT

This is a personal preference, but for someone like me who isn't so confident in driving, I once again felt that the GT3 had a better PDK than the MT.

As for the driving of the MT car, my favorite car is the Swiss Po MT, and the air-cooled Porsche 964 (MT) that I was driving the other day was able to drive normally, so now I can drive even if I ride the MT of GT3. I think it can be done.

However, if there is a shift operation or a clutch operation for each curve, it is regrettable that I can not concentrate purely on that wonderful handling. For me,It's more fun to drive with this GT3 steering with both handsI felt it. (Because PDK is also insanely smart)

So if my husband says he will buy GT3 again in the future, I'm thinking of saying "I like PDK!"

911GT3, general comment

The above is my impression, though it is easy.

Many of you said "I want to own a GT3 onceI understood the feeling that I thought. Even with the same Porsche and the same 911, the dimensions are different when it comes to GT3.

When I taste that feeling, I'm addicted to it, and while saying that PDK is good, "What does MT look like? I want to rideI'm honest with myself.

I thought GT3 was the best car in every sense.

Thank you very much to the owner who let me drive my precious car right after delivery!

It's not directly related to this article,
Do you turn off the air conditioner when you turn the engine to high rpm?
For the time being, Porsche seems to have a mechanism that automatically disengages the clutch of the compressor when the engine rotates at high speed.
I'm not sure if I can trust this feature
    What is Mina doing?

    • HiroHiro

      Hello NVA.

In my case, I have never turned off the air conditioner.
Even on the circuit, when it's hot, I run with it on.
And Porsche is a manufacturer from the frigid Arctic Circle to the scorching Death Valley.
It has been tested on harsh roads around the world, running far more distances than other manufacturers.
So I think you can be trusted.

    Dear Mina
This time as well, I was able to refer to the fun content.
At the beginning of this month, after changing the oil over 1000 kg, at Shin Tomei Expressway etc.
It is safely centered on the 4th and 5th gears.
Before I bought it, I was skeptical about the "feeling of something else" that people often say.
Did you mount the engine of Space Battleship Yamato from a certain number of revolutions?
The feeling of excitement that I think will spring up and make me feel confused.

The voice of this magical internal combustion engine, which continues to seduce "turn the motto", may be controllable only by the self-control of the elderly.
It is impossible to fully enjoy all of this potential, but even half of it is fun enough, and its handling like a Japanese sword and its simple appearance made it a 911, a third unit that I can not part with for a while.
I am also grateful to the front desk DWB and PDK for their support.

I'm looking forward to the next GT3 of the two of you.

      Always Thank you!
The GT3 is really a car of a different dimension ... I realized again that it is a terrible car.
You can see how the GT3 car life is fulfilling.
Also, I would be grateful if you could tell me various things.
      Please do!

    Mina.

Hiro gave me advice before when I was wondering whether to go with GT3 or GTS.
Thank you very much for your time.

It was my choice as a left hand drive manual and up life car, but I took your advice and convinced myself to change from a GT3 to a GTS.
The GTS has finally received a production quota and is scheduled for delivery in January of next year.

However, GT3 also remains unfulfilled and has not received a refund of the GT3 application fee, which is still alive.
And I am more and more disturbed when I read this blog.

Also, I added PDCC to my GTS. It was the option I was least familiar with, so Hiro's evaluation was helpful.
I could not understand why it was faster just because it did not roll. In fact, I saw a video from Porsche AG comparing a 991 with PDCC, a 991 with sports chrono, and a 991 without both installed on a circuit, and the fastest cars were those with PDCC, those with sports chrono, and those without. I was shocked because I imagined that the PDCC would increase the gap at each corner.
For this reason, we never dreamed of adding PDCC until the production quota was set and the final option was decided.
When deciding on options, the sales representative recommended that I think about it for a week and decide.
So I re-read Hiro's PDCC evaluation and thought about the sales rep's evaluation of not getting tired of driving.
Searching for a video with a tireless, stable ride, I found a Porsche Center video showing the excellence of a Cayenne with air suspension and PDCC.
I was amazed at how stable the slalom driving was in that video. The car without the system was cleaving the pylons and nose diving in the direction of the steering wheel. On the other hand, the car with the steering wheel installed went through the slalom in a stable manner.
This video reminded me of Kazuo Shimizu's 992 Porsche Turbo test video.
I remember that Mr. Kazuo Shimizu had said at the beginning that he was a gasoline car denier because of the excellent acceleration and handling of EVs due to their low center of gravity, but he had changed his statement because of the excellent acceleration and double lane change handling of turbo cars.
I am convinced that the PDCC, which is standard on the turbo, is a factor in this double lane change excellence. I watched videos of other Porsches, but the turbo was the best.

I understood that double lane changes and slalom driving is something that can be found in normal speed range driving.
I understood that if you drive a car with PDCC with this in mind, you will not get tired because it is smooth even when changing lanes normally.
Even more telling is when changing lanes violently or on rutted roads.
I forget if the double lane change was a handling evaluation for collision avoidance, but if it is excellent in a test to evaluate handling stability, there is no reason not to install it.
I feel that the difference is also noticeable on ordinary roads, such as on a corner where a straight line ends and a sharp turn is made. Even if I turn the steering wheel immediately after braking and start to turn, there is no change in attitude, and I feel as if I can step on the accelerator immediately.

Finally, all of the auto critics' videos tell us how comfortable the GTS is to drive, but we are concerned that both of Porsche Japan's PR cars come with PDCC.
I imagine that an old timer like me would have a variable stabilizer that would activate when the need arises, so it would be like a softer setting than unattached under normal circumstances.

I would also like to hear Hiro's evaluation of the ride.

    • HiroHiro

      Hello, azuki.

PDCC is certainly effective for going fast, but on ordinary roads, it is more about the comfort of the ride.
The term "ride quality" can mean many different things, but I believe that the ride quality of PDCCs is good in the sense of less shaking.
I feel that the knack from the road surface is not so different, but it comes from less roll when going around a curve.
I think the ride quality is better and the shaking is less than that of uninstalled cars on wavy road surfaces in town or in situations where the left and right sides of the road are uneven.
In any case, I think there is no harm in putting it on.
Besides, with recent trends in the used market, PDCCs are starting to appreciate more than before, and I think we can expect some resale.
