Sayonara, GT3|Why did you decide to let go of your Porsche 911 GT3?

Porsche 911GT3 (late 991)
Porsche 911

I've always wanted to own a Porsche 911 GT3.

My husband had long admired the Porsche 911 GT3, and it was in May of 2019 that it came to our home. Ours is a GT3 Touring without wings, a rarity among GT3s.

Porsche 911GT3

Without its wings, it looked like an ordinary 911 at first glance, but it had an unusual aura, and its body color was crayon, giving the impression of an "adult GT3.

Porsche 911GT3

My husband has been touring with this GT3 for long distances, driving on the circuit, etc.In less than two years, the mileage has exceeded 11,000 km.

And with its tremendous performance, it gave my wife and I many emotional experiences that we had never experienced before.

The other day, I said goodbye to my GT3, which holds so many memories for me.

The day I delivered the GT3 to the dealer, my husband said, "Sayonara, GT3And..."I tweeted on twitter. We received a lot of feedback, and after thatclubhouseBut I have talked about why and how I let go of them this time, and I would like to write a summary of them on my blog again.

Reasons to let go of your Porsche 911GT3

My husband gave up GT3 for a reason. It's not that I don't like the GT3, or that the GT3 is a bad car.Rather, it is because it is too wonderful a car.

My husband puts it this way.

I guess I gave up GT3 for three main reasons: first, because I thought, "There are too few opportunities for GT3 in everyday life. From the "Mere Old Man". There are not many roads where the performance of the GT3 can be demonstrated on ordinary roads, so unless you are touring on very good roads or going to a race track, you will not be able to use the GT3.
."That said, you've driven 11,000 km in less than two years. You may think I'm a "good driver," but from my point of view, which is to drive 10,000 km in a year, I don't think I could have given the GT3 a good ride at all.
It would be a waste to have a car that you own but never get to use and it just sits in the parking lot forever.I'm sure GT3 would be happier if it went to an owner who would drive it more on a regular basis.I thought.
The second point may be similar to the reason for the first point. The car's settings are not suitable for driving on public roads. That is to say.
I still think GT3 is a racing car. I think, "I'm not a fan of the GT3.The power makes it too fast and difficult to drive, so it is not suitable for driving on public roads. Some may think, "But that's not so.
If we talk about power alone, Turbo and Turbo S have more power, but they are totally easier to drive in the city than GT3.
GT3 is aNot only power, but also engine power band, suspension, gear ratios, tires, sound insulation, and all other settings are predicated on the circuit. What is it?
For example, if you let off the gas pedal while driving in first or second gear, the engine brakes immediately and the car goes into a tailspin.
Also. The GT3 tires are cup tires, so in winter when the road surface is cold, the tires do not grip.It is especially bad on rainy days in winter, and I once had a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, even after a slow drive on the Ashiu Driveway. So, in winter, GT3 is almost out of the question.
Also, I like long-distance grand touring, which is a kind of haphazard travel with a car, but I can't go there with the GT3.
It is difficult to choose a road casually and say, "Oh, I want to go this way.If we go there and the roads are bad, the GT3 will be out of the car height-wise.If you get a flat tire, you can't even fix it because of the center-lock wheel. If it suddenly starts to rain and puddles start to form on the road surface, the touring will be over.
That's one of the things that really limits my opportunities to ride.
Third, I'd like to point out that I've recentlyThe new 992 GT3 is out, but there will be an announcement about the touring package at the end of the year.and Andreas Preuninger, director of Porsche's GT product line.GT3 online announcementAnd he made it clear at the time of the
The price will inevitably go down when the next model comes out. I thought that even if I regret selling it now, I could buy a new model when it comes out.

And.

It is true that my husband really likes to drive. He drives 12 hours a day, or more than 2,000 km in one touring trip. Not enough running yet!I often think "He is really crazy" because he says things like "He is really crazy.

I think that for such a husband, GT3 Touring would not have been a good fit.

My husband, however, is not.

It just didn't fit the way I drive my car.I have no doubt that the GT3 is a great car.I can assure you of this.
The sound and power from above 4000 rpm, the engine still turning from 6, 7, 8000 rpm, etc., are really amazing. The needle on the tachometer rises at a frightening speed.
The handling and the way the G's are applied are things you would never experience in a normal 911 or Boxster.
Also, if you drive on the highway, the ride is insanely comfortable, tight and stable, and wonderful.
Driving GT3 is really exciting, and once you taste it, you'll be addicted to it.I think that the performance of the GT3 itself is not comparable to that of sports cars in the same class.
However, I doubt that even 10% of that performance can be demonstrated on ordinary roads. That is whyInevitably, the feeling that it would be a waste to own it prevails.

He said.

Porsche 911GT3

I'm sure that's true.

That said. Not that GT3 can't be used on a regular basis at all.In. fact, I think it can be surprising.
But when you're moping along the open road.Something tells me that GT3 is frustrated.I'm not... (laughs)
When I listen to the sound of pebbles and sand being rolled in because of the lack of sound insulation, or the rattling of the gears and engine when driving in first gear in traffic, I can hear the GT3 roaring in frustration because it can't exert its power... I can tell it's in a very bad mood.
So, I would try to calm the GT3 down a little bit by stepping on the gas pedal every chance I got, but in the end, I couldn't get it to show any power at all, and when I got home and turned off the engine, I found that the engine was still running, but the engine was still running.
."I'm sorry I couldn't give you a good run today. Next time, I'll let you drive on a better road.I feel sorry for you," (laughs).
When I think about it, 964s and Boxsters are usually easy to drive because they are smiling and in a good mood on any road.
So, every time I felt sorry for GT3, I had to coax him out, and it was getting tiring to drive on public roads, so I gradually started to think, "I'm sorry. If that's the case, GT3 would be happier to live in Tohoku or by a good road, with people who can drive GT3 anytime or go to the track often!I'm starting to think, "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing.

And.

Indeed, I understand the feeling my husband is talking about. Maybe it's just our own way of thinking, but I feel as if the car is a living thing.

Porsche 911GT3

Who is GT3 right for?

Then I asked my husband what kind of person GT3 is right for.

I agreeGT3 is a status thing to own.I am sure that the desire to own such a car will be satisfied because it has an aura. It has an aura about it, and many people approach me when I park it in a parking lot at a touring destination. For example, if you buy a super car and don't feel dissatisfied even if you don't get to drive it much, or if you are happy just to park it in your garage, I think this is the car for you.
And maybe someone who lives near a good road and can drive GT3 on a great road or on a circuit anytime.
I just don't like to drive a car as a status symbol.I genuinely like driving. And although I like circuit racing, I prefer long tours on many different roads, so I think it would not suit such a person.

This was the case.

The GT3 was purchased from the dealer where I bought it, and I hope that I have a chance to meet a good owner and that it will be a force to be reckoned with at my next bride-to-be's place.

Thank you so much for all the inspiration!

In fact, the day before we said goodbye, the couple went for a last run at Ashiu Driveway, and I will write about my impressions and the contents of that run in a later article.

    Hi Mina.

It is true that the GT system is tough to use on a daily basis.
    However, I can put my luggage in the front hood, which is convenient for shopping. lol;

My GT4, but it was just running around without stopping because of the Corona and because the M3 was not on hand for almost 2 months due to maintenance and paint.
In the last six months, we have covered over 6,000 kilometers.
If you divide by the number of cars, GT3 Touring, I think it's running well, but ・・・・

In case you are wondering, GT4 is not approached by anyone other than Porsche riders.
I do get photographed by a bunch of kids in Daikoku.

GT3 configurations are now available in Japan.

I tried. The difference is 4.5 million yen.

I would like to know what the difference is.
I don't think it would take that much just to make it to Japanese specifications.
GT4 is almost the same price.

And I recently test drove a Taikan Turbo.
    That acceleration is violent.
The 10-pod brakes worked well even without PCCB.
However, I feel the car is too wide and too big for Japanese roads.

      Nak acid
You drove 6,000 km in 6 months, that's amazing!
GT3, yes, I see that GT4 is almost the same price, what difference does it make...

      >And I test drove a Taikan Turbo the other day.
My husband also had a chance to test drive a Taikan in town the other day, and he said the acceleration was tremendous.
I will try to write another article about it.
Thank you for your continued support.

  2. Buzzer beater!

    Good evening.
It's not that I hate it, but the decision to give up my car is heartbreaking...
I guess it was a decision made out of love for GT3.
Exactly as the article says, he treats the car like a living thing.
I felt tremendous love for his Porsche.
I hope you and your wife can find a suitable car to replace the GT3.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Buzzer beater! Mr.
      Thank you for everything!
My husband has been struggling with this for the past few months and it was a hard decision.

Owning a sports car is a
I wonder if it would be different in many ways from owning a typical passenger car.
      I thought.

      >I hope you and your wife can find a suitable car to replace the GT3.
      Thank you!

  3. 991-2 GT3 MT

    Did you get off?
But it's hard to escape its charm, so I'll probably buy a new one.
Major changes in front suspension Carbon roof option Exciting!
I did my best to get the 991-2 GT3 to 2500.
992 GT3 is over 2700 when configured and I don't plan to buy it. I could see my kind wife's face.
    Good luck, Master.
I am looking forward to it.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. 991-2 GT3 MT
      Thank you for everything!
The GT3 is truly an exciting and fascinating car...!
The 992 GT3 is also very expensive...

I'll let my husband do his best (laughs).
Thank you for your continued support!

  4. 991GT3 Touring Package with almost identical specifications

We ordered at the same time and happened to discover your blog and I always enjoy reading it because the color and specifications are very similar. I too have driven 15,000km in 2 years and have my 2 year inspection next weekend. I want to continue to drive more, although I don't have many operating days. I will enjoy long touring of more than 200 km one way, avoiding traffic jams, as long as my physical strength allows. I want to drive as much as I can until the trouble of limited situations becomes unbearable.

    • Mina.Mina.

Mr. 991GT3 Touring Package with almost the same specifications.

Ordered at the same time, yes we did!
991 Late GT3 Touring, because it's a really great car.
It would be wonderful to be able to give them a full ride.

Since it is a manual transmission, the more I drive it, the more I feel like it will become my partner.
Please let me know more about it.
Thank you for your continued support!

    Okay...
You are letting go of GT3.

    But I think I understand.
I have to let go of one of the cars I have.
If you don't, then choose GT3, just as you would choose GT3 if you didn't.
    I think.
The GT3 is cyborgish, isn't it?
Can be (and is) manipulated at will
But I feel like there's no blood anywhere.
    I'll be doing that...

I just drive my GT3 in traffic.

I can sympathize with them on my own.
    Or rather.
In times like this, the GT3 has blood in its veins like any other car.
I feel as if I am in the same situation as the others.

But when you're talking about blood in the car.
    I'm not decent on points.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Whooper.
GT3 is a really amazing car...
I have never had a car that gave me such a feeling when I rode in it because of its scary performance.

      >Just when you're talking about blood in the car.
      I'm not decent on points.
      Lovely (LOL)!
I am sure that Mr. Wooper's beloved cars are very happy to be cared for in this way.

    Dear Mina
    Hello. - Hello.
I am also considering a 992 GT3 for my next car inspection.
Last month I took a Ferrari Roma for a test drive.
It has more power than the GT3, and the driving style is elegant and gentle.
    Ferrari is also good.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Kunipon.
      Hello!

      >I am also considering a 992 GT3 for my next car inspection.
      Oh yes! Lovely!

      >Last month I took a Ferrari Roma for a test drive.
I have never driven a Ferrari, but everyone says it is totally different from a Porsche.
I would like to drive one if I have a chance.
      Thank you!

    Nice to meet you.
I always enjoy watching and reading your articles.

    I'm actually considering selling my current 991 late model GT3 as I'm switching to a 992 GT3.
I learned a lot about the BMW purchase batch and the Nissan Note kababa. Thank you very much.

I understand that the GT3 Touring was sold to a dealer.

If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you in advance.

Nice to meet you and thank you for visiting our blog.

      Oh, so you're switching from a 991GT3 to a 992GT3!
      It's amazing!!!
I would be very happy to learn more about how it has evolved and after it is delivered.

      >I understand that the GT3 Touring was sold to a dealer.
I asked my husband about it, and he said the main reason was that he wanted to pass it on as a certified pre-owned car because it was a GT3 with particular specifications, etc.
He seems to have a lot of feelings about it.
We also hope to have a good relationship with our current Porsche dealer in the future.
They were sold by the dealer.

Please let me know if I have answered your question.

    Mina.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

I see. I don't mean to be rude, but I understand your husband's feelings and thoughts very well.
We had not yet finished breaking in the 718 Spyder that was delivered last year, and we thought it would be difficult to add more cars to the fleet.
I decided to give up my 991GT3 in tears.

I always look forward to your blog and hope you will continue to do so.

P.S.: I am very interested in 964 today (laughs).

  9. Masa.

    Mina.

It is nice to meet you. I have been reading your blog every chance I get.

I'd like to see this blog and maybe 、、、、
Maybe you inherited your husband's GT3 Touring! I thought I would comment on this.

As a car enthusiast, I have been into Porsche since 4 years ago.

    I started with a 981 Boxster S (PDK) => 981 Boxster GTS (MT) => 991 early Targa 4S (PDK) + 997 late GT3 (MT).
I found a GT3 Touring this time and gave up my Targa and 997 GT3 for a GT3 Touring as a PC certified used car in Osaka.
We recently took delivery of the car on June 5. Yesterday, I enjoyed GT3 by touring around 100Km mainly on highways.

Crayon, leather package, F-lift, PCCB, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., and with 11,500Km of mileage, maybe...
I was relieved to know that Mina's husband was the previous owner of the car and that he owned it with love and care.

After driving several Porsches, albeit over the last few years, I think the GT3 Touring is the ideal at this point.
We also have a 993 Cabriolet (MT) that we were fortunate to own last year.
I plan to enjoy my Porsche life with these two cars.

I look forward to reading more of Mina's blogs on Porsche.

Please forgive me for emailing you as I thought I had taken over without your permission.

I sometimes go to the East Rokko Observation Deck by the Ashiyu Toll Road.
I would be happy to discuss various Porsche topics with you if we could meet.

    Masa.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Masa
Thank you for visiting our blog.
And thank you for taking over my husband's GT3!

      I just told my husband.
Oh yeah! I'm so glad the good folks have taken over! Now I'm relieved.
I feel like I'm sending my daughter off to be a bride...I'm going to take care of you from now on, and I'm looking forward to working with you!
      He said.

I am so happy to have a Porsche lover like you, Masa.
GT3 is also a happy one.
And the 993 Cabriolet MT, great car, awesome...! I'm insanely jealous...!

If you come to the Ashiu observatory, please visit us.
Please let us hear from you.

My husband said, "I'll recognize you as soon as I see you, so I'll call on you! I'll call out to him!
Thank you for your continued support!
