Struggling to Find Something to Write About

I haven’t been able to write much for the blog lately. It’s not that I’ve been too busy to find the time—although, to be fair, I am busy. I used to make time to write even when life was hectic, so why have I stopped? It comes down to this:

I haven’t had a single chance to experience what the Panamera can really do.

I drive the Panamera every day and there’s plenty to appreciate, but I always end up reaching the same conclusion: “On everyday roads, I can’t use even five percent of its full potential.”

I could write every day about how it feels like a waste of a great car, or how I can’t experience its true performance—but readers would probably be left wondering, “So what?” Besides, it’s winter, and taking it out on the driveway would mean fitting winter tires. A set of four winter tires for the Panamera costs around ¥1 million, so that’s not exactly an easy expense to justify.

And just like that, I was completely out of ideas for the blog.

An Idea That Might Work

I was thinking, “I don’t want to stop posting altogether until spring, when we can go touring again. The blog has finally started attracting a lot of readers…” Then an idea came to me:

Why not visit different dealerships for test drives and write comparison articles with the Panamera?

I could try cars from other manufacturers in the same class as the Panamera and write about what makes each one special, how it compares with the Panamera, and what kind of driver it might suit. That could give readers some useful information—and make for a fun weekend outing with the family, too. I thought, “That could work!” and sent my husband an email while he was at work.

He replied:

“Yeah, I’d like to go somewhere. But if we show up in the Panamera, it’ll look like we have no intention of buying anything, so I’m not sure how we should play it.”

Fair point…

Taking our brand-new Panamera Turbo would feel a bit unfair to the salespeople. But if I went in the Boxster, we’d have to find someone to watch our two kids. Ah… decisions, decisions.
