Porsche News

This year marks 70 years since Porsche first appeared.

Ferdinand Porsche founded his design firm in 1931, butThe first model bearing the Porsche name, the Porsche 356, was introduced on June 8, 1948.That's where the history of the Porsche brand began, and Porsche is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. I wondered if it was only 70 years, or if it had been much longer.

Incidentally, the Porsche 356 is now on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. (This photo was actually taken when my husband and I went on a trip to Germany)

The 911, launched as the successor to the 356, is now synonymous with Porsche, and apparently over 1 million units have been produced to date. Amazing.

I hear there will be commemorative events all over the world!

To commemorate the 70th anniversary, commemorative events will be held around the world.

For this anniversary year, Porsche has many events planned around the world: on February 3, "The Porsche Effect" will be held at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. In Germany, the first "70 Years of Porsche Sports Cars" exhibition will be held March 20-31 at the "DRIVE.Volkswagen Group Forum" in Berlin. And the Porsche Museum will also host a special exhibition on June 9. On the same day, Porsche will also organize a "Sports Car Together Day" for sports car enthusiasts worldwide: On the weekend of June 16-17, employees, residents of the Zuffenhausen area, and customers are invited to an official celebration in and outside the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. The anniversary year will be celebrated with the "Festival of Speed" at the Goodwood Circuit in England on July 12-15 and the "Rennsport Reunion" in California on September 27-30. The celebration will conclude with a "Sound Night" event at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart for the first time on October 13.

....uhhh........is it not going to be held in Japan?

So I went to Porsche Japan's website and... oh, what does it say?

On June 8-10, 2018, the world will celebrate Porsche's 70th anniversary with Sportscar Together Day. Numerous Porsche events will take place around the world and will be attended by sports car drivers, enthusiasts and fans from all over the world.

Above.

...No, I know that.

I wondered if there might be something going on at Fuji Speedway, so I looked at the Fuji Speedway event calendar, but it was blank on that day.

My husband used toPorsche doesn't focus on Japan at all," he said. I wonder how often there are models that are sold in Europe and the U.S. but not in Japan, or a big Panamera unveiling event in Taiwan but no such event in Japan.I feel as if I have realized this very clearly.

...Porsche Japan, but go for it.

Well, Mr. H, the salesman at the Porsche dealership, has been making sales calls at a great rate lately, and I wonder if he has decided to work hard to increase sales volume in Japan....

I just realized an important fact...

Porsche Effects" at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angelesis holding a special exhibition of over 50 rare sports cars from around the world until January 27, 2019. I love it...I was thinking I'd love to see it when...I realized....

Every year at the end of July, my husband goes on a business trip to San Francisco or thereabouts in the US.Why don't you follow me with the kids this year?"He had been invited to go and was planning to go.

Chance ∵. !!!!!!!

San Francisco and Los Angeles must be close! I thought, and immediately looked it up on Google Maps. Let's see, the address of the Peterson Automotive Museum is... "6060 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036 United States".

...Yes, I'm out!

10 hours and 20 minutes!!!! (Holy shit!

No, I said, what are you going to do by checking the time from Japan? I was in no hurry to change my departure point. Phew.

To get back on track, the Peterson Automotive Museum from San Francisco to...

...Yes, I'm out!

6 hours and 17 minutes by car!

Is it really that far - about the distance from my house to Fuji Speedway?

By the way, it takes 1 hour and 20 minutes by plane. If you want to go, you should fly.

Admission is $16 for adults, which I guess is pretty normal. It is the 70th anniversary of Porsche and the event is being held in Los Angeles, and I definitely want to go because I don't get many chances to visit the U.S.

This is something I need to discuss with my husband!
