“If You’re Not Going to Drive It, Don’t Buy It in the First Place”|Thoughts on the Soaring Used Market Prices of the Porsche 911 Carrera T
公開日:

The Carrera T was delivered at the end of May 2023. Time flies—it’s almost been half a year already.
The current mileage is 5,500 km.
Whether it’s going to the supermarket, taking the kids to the dentist or dermatologist, or just driving them around—I use the Carrera T for everything. Sometimes I think, “There probably aren’t many people in Japan who use their Carrera T this much in daily life.” Every day, I’m enjoying my 911 life to the fullest.
Used Market Prices for the Carrera T
For a while now, it’s been a hot topic on social media that “the used market prices for the Carrera T are skyrocketing.”
I hadn’t paid much attention until recently, but looking again, it’s true…

The Carrera T I bought, including options, was almost 20 million yen, but since the production volume of the Carrera T is limited, prices seem to have risen even in just the past few months.
However, I’ve also heard recently that “Carrera Ts are being delivered” and “reservations for the Carrera T are being accepted,” so prices might fluctuate again.
The Driving Experience Is Outstanding—Carrera T
The driving experience of the Carrera T is truly amazing and fun. It’s light and glides along smoothly—a car that really feels like a trusted partner.
The other day, a car enthusiast customer took it for a spin and kept saying, “Wow! The 911 is this much fun? This is insane! So much fun! The engine revs so nicely! I want this!” (laughs)
True to the 992 generation, it’s solid and feels very rigid, yet it’s never heavy or cumbersome.
It’s nimble, and the steering feels incredibly satisfying. (I think adding Power Steering Plus to the Carrera T would make it too light, as it’s already quite light to begin with.)
It’s very easy to drive in slow city traffic, smooth to start off, and doesn’t require much care. When driving on mountain roads like the Royu Driveway, it’s fast, grips well, and handles sharply.
Of course, if you want a smoother, more comfortable ride, the T might not be the best choice (since the Carrera T has a sports chassis), but for those who value “driving enjoyment” and “ease of daily use,” the Carrera T is perfect.
If I ever buy another 911, I’d want to drive a “T” again—that’s how much fun it is.
In that sense, as I mentioned at the start, “the rising price of the Carrera T” also makes me happy as an owner.
But on the other hand, the mileage on Carrera Ts appearing in the used market is mostly 30 km, 50 km, or at most around 500 km…
In other words, they’re barely driven at all.
It’s possible they weren’t bought solely for resale, and there may be personal reasons I don’t know about. Maybe the owners had no choice but to let them go.
But honestly, I think, “If you’re not going to drive it, you shouldn’t buy it in the first place.”
The car deserves better.
The Carrera T Is for Those Who Truly Cherish Their Cars
The Carrera T.
Honestly, when I first got behind the wheel, I thought, “Ah, I might sell this soon.”
I didn’t feel the lightness, the engine sound was really quiet, and the engine response was kind of sluggish—I thought, “This might not be fun.”
But after starting the break-in period and driving about 300 km, the engine sound clearly changed, and the engine response improved.
After surpassing 500 km, I noticed, “Wow, it’s better again! It’s better again!”—the driving experience kept improving day by day, and now I’m excited thinking, “I bet it’ll feel even better and more fun after 10,000 km.”
That’s what the Carrera T is all about—enjoying the drive (not just the Carrera T, but any car). If you’re not going to savor that fun and just sell it right away, then you shouldn’t buy it at all. (I’m getting a bit frustrated writing this, haha.)
Among my circle, there are quite a few owners who have experienced the driving pleasure of the Carrera T, understood its appeal, and are now eagerly waiting in line to reserve one. The Carrera T is a car meant for those people.
Especially to those eagerly longing for a Carrera T—may you be lucky enough to get a production slot. And may the day come when we can share the joy of driving this Carrera T together.
