Introducing the New 911 Carrera T – The Essence of Pure Driving

The new generation of the Carrera T, a model we’ve owned in our household, has been announced. Even better, it’s available in two variants: coupe and cabriolet.

Like its predecessor, it focuses on lightweight construction, agility, and an emotionally stirring sound, featuring a 6-speed manual transmission to deliver the ideal Carrera for Porsche purists. Furthermore, a special equipment package designed exclusively for the Carrera T adds a stylish personal touch. Notably, this is the first time a Cabriolet version has been offered.

The new 911 Carrera T expands the 911 lineup as a lightweight, dynamic car. Thanks to weight-saving measures, dynamic tuning, and the 6-speed manual transmission, it embodies the purest driving pleasure. With lightweight windows, reduced insulation materials, and full bucket seats, the lightest version of the new 911 Carrera T weighs just 1,478 kg. This represents a weight reduction of over 40 kg compared to the current 911 Carrera.

Powertrain: Manual Transmission and 6-Cylinder Twin-Turbo Boxer Engine

The 911 Carrera T is equipped with the same 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine as the 911 Carrera. This engine produces 290 kW (394 PS) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. The standard 6-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear axle. When downshifting, an auto-blip function can be selected, which automatically and precisely matches engine and gearbox speeds.

With the standard Sports Chrono Package, the Carrera T coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (4.7 seconds for the Cabriolet). Top speed is 295 km/h for the coupe and 293 km/h for the Cabriolet. Along with the increased output compared to the previous model, the braking system has been upgraded with larger 350 mm brake discs all around and 6-piston fixed calipers on the front wheels.
Additionally, the reduction of interior sound insulation combined with the auto-blip function makes the standard sports exhaust system produce an especially thrilling sound.

Chassis and Tuning: Developed Exclusively for This Model

As usual, the Sports Chrono Package is part of the standard equipment on the 911 Carrera T.

In addition, Porsche has equipped this model for the first time with standard rear-axle steering combined with a more direct steering ratio on the front axle, significantly optimizing handling. This allows lateral acceleration to build up more quickly, improving steering response while enhancing stability. The rear-axle steering tuning has been developed exclusively for the 911 Carrera T.

The PASM adaptive sports suspension, lowered by 10 mm, is also standard, featuring model-specific sporty tuning that makes the Carrera T even more agile and refined.
Thanks to the standard rear-axle steering and the 911 Carrera T’s specially optimized aerodynamic balance, the front and rear axle anti-roll bars can be tuned for neutral handling. The 911 Carrera T comes with 20/21-inch Carrera S alloy wheels, fitted with 245/35 ZR20 tires at the front and 305/30 ZR21 tires at the rear.

Exterior and Interior: Expressing a Unique Personality

The 911 Carrera T boasts numerous features that distinguish it from other models in the series.

A shift pattern logo sticker is applied to the triangular section of the rear side window, signaling that this is a particularly pure model with manual shifting. The rear model logo is painted in contrasting Vanadium Grey. The rear lid grille inlay, upper and lower trims of the exterior mirrors, and the machined alloy wheels are all painted in matching Vanadium Grey metallic. Another distinctive feature of the Carrera T is the aerodynamically optimized spoiler lip borrowed from the 911 Carrera GTS.

Optional body colors for the Porsche Carrera T include Shade Green Metallic, Crayon, and Slate Grey Neo. The Dreams color scheme offers Guards Red, Lugano Blue, Genshan Blue Metallic, and Cartagena Yellow Metallic. Additionally, more subdued options like Jet Black Metallic, GT Silver Metallic, and Ice Grey Metallic are available.

Standard colors are solid Black and White. Even more body colors can be ordered through the Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus programs. The 911 T Cabriolet’s roof is optionally available in Black, Red, Blue, or Brown.

Sporty, Black-Themed Interior: A Signature of the T Model

Porsche has given the Carrera T’s interior a thoroughly pure look that befits the T model.

The eye-catching stopwatch from the standard Sports Chrono Package is prominently positioned on the dashboard. Many special details emphasize the 911 Carrera T as a manual sports car. The shortened gear lever is topped with an open-pore walnut laminated wood knob, offering a unique visual and tactile experience. In front of the gear lever is a badge with the “MT” (manual transmission) logo. The shift pattern logo is printed on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The standard equipment list also includes a leather-wrapped heated GT sports steering wheel with mode switch. Alternatively, a steering wheel covered in Race-Tex is available. Decorative inlays on the dashboard and center console are Vanadium Grey, while the door panel inlays are black brushed aluminum.

Fitting its sporty interior character, the Carrera T comes standard with black 4-way electrically adjustable sports seats with Sport-Tex seat centers. The tartan fabric pattern inside is exclusive to the 911 Carrera T. The headrests feature embroidered 911 logos. Optional adaptive sports seats plus (18-way adjustable) and especially lightweight full bucket seats can be ordered.

The original equipment of the 911 Carrera T is further enhanced by the Carrera T Design Package for both exterior and interior.

This package uses the classic Porsche color Genshan Blue to create striking color contrasts.
On the exterior, the rear lid inlay, front and rear lids, door Carrera T decals, MT stickers, and alloy wheels with a glossy finish are all finished in this color.
The upper shell of the exterior mirrors is black. Genshan Blue contrast stitching replaces the standard black stitching inside, and the seats feature Genshan Blue contrast stripes. The same color is used for the seat belts, center console and door panel trims, contrast inlays, and the 911 logo embroidered on the headrests.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera T is now available for order. This model is truly the ideal choice for Porsche purists seeking pure driving pleasure.
Combining lightweight construction with high performance, the 911 Carrera T is sure to capture the hearts of many Porsche owners as a car that fully delivers the joy of driving.

Personally, I have long recommended the Carrera T as the top pick among the 992 lineup since the previous generation.
This time, with even more refined driving dynamics and a significantly expanded range of appearance options, I’m very much looking forward to seeing it on Japanese roads.
