Features of the 911 SC RS – Pursuing Lightweight and High Performance
The 911 SC RS (also known as the “Evolution Series”) looks at first glance like a regular 911. However, it is packed with numerous racing specifications under the surface.
Specifically, it features:
・Lightweight aluminum body parts
・Fiberglass bumpers
・Thoroughly stripped-down interior for weight reduction
・Total weight of just 980 kg
・3.0-liter engine producing 250 to 270 horsepower

Provenance of the 911 SC RS Being Auctioned
The 911 SC RS up for auction is the very last of the 21 units produced. Originally built for the South African market, it eventually came into the possession of the racing team owned by Tycho Christian van Dijk.
This car participated in a rally event only once in 1984, finishing 14th out of 158 competitors. Since then, it has been carefully preserved, with the current mileage being only about 5,200 km.

In a report prepared for the current owner, Barth highlights the exceptional preservation of the car. He notes that the matching numbers on the engine and transmission are proof that this historic car has been meticulously cared for over the years.

Among Porsche collectors, it is extremely rare for such a model to come to market, making this a hot topic. The 911 SC RS holds a special place in Porsche’s history, and all eyes are on the auction results.
This rare car embodying Porsche’s racing heritage will be closely watched by Porsche fans to see what price it commands and how it will be cherished by its new owner.
