Our First Clubhouse Room

The other day, my husband and I hosted our first room on Clubhouse and chatted for about 30 minutes. We figured, “Clubhouse sounds like fun, but we’ll never know until we give it a try—let’s do it tonight!” We decided on the spur of the moment and announced the room at short notice, but around 30 to 40 people tuned in.

Since it was our first time, we talked about:

・Introducing ourselves
・How we came to start this blog
・The story behind the blog and whether it really is an independent personal blog
・What first drew us to Porsche
・The 992 Turbo S my husband recently had the chance to test-drive

It was our first time speaking to an audience together as a couple. We were told that our voices would overlap if we spoke from the same room using separate accounts, so even though we were in the same house, we shut ourselves away in separate rooms with the doors closed—a pretty surreal setup, haha.

At first, we found ourselves slipping into overly formal language and wondering, “What should we call each other in a situation like this?” But after giving it a try, I realized that the slightly awkward, spontaneous atmosphere is part of what makes Clubhouse fun.

Unlike speaking in front of a live audience, you can’t see how listeners are reacting, which makes it harder to adjust your topics or steer the conversation on the fly. Still, you can probably just relax and chat, much like you would on a radio show.

That said, we were relieved to hear from listeners, “I wanted to hear more!” and “I’m looking forward to the next one!”

We didn’t talk much about cars in our first room, but we’d love to spend more time on automotive topics in future sessions. It could also be fun to broadcast from inside one of our cars, like our GT3 or 911. We’d also like to talk about subjects that are popular on the blog, such as life lessons and the philosophy of success—and it would be great to collaborate with other guests, too.

We plan to host rooms from time to time, so if you’re on Clubhouse, we’d love it if you followed us.
