Finally, Delivery Day: The Porsche 911 GT3 Has Arrived at the Dealer

GT3 Touring Arrives at the Porsche Center
Last December, my husband quickly decided on the specs and ordered a Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 Touring.
To fully understand this GT3, he ordered magazines about the late 991 model and thoroughly read reviews of the GT3 Touring, always saying, “I’m ready whenever it gets delivered!” Then, just recently, we got the news that it had arrived at our nearest dealer, and our contact, Mr. H, kindly sent photos and videos.
Up until the last moment, my husband was debating the exterior of this GT3 Touring:
Maybe I’ll put a big “PORSCHE” decal on the side. Or add two vertical stripes like those on the 911 Turbo S Exclusive.
But in the end, he decided not to add anything. He said he wants to drive it as-is first, and if he changes his mind later, he’ll reconsider then. Another interesting thing is that he used to say,
The GT3 Touring without a wing is classy. At first glance, you might think it’s a Carrera, but the vibe is subtly different. Then if you look closely… you realize, “It’s a GT3!” That quiet elegance of being recognized only by those who know is great.
However, after recently seeing a Carrera Cup car up close at Okayama International Circuit, he said,
The winged version is definitely cool too. I might end up with the punchline, “I bought a GT3 Touring, but in the end, I put the wing on after all,” haha.
What We’re Looking Forward to with the GT3
Of course, there’s so much to look forward to with the GT3, but especially these points excite us.
Crayon Body Color
I’ve seen Porsches in Crayon a few times, but never up close, so I’m really curious about what the finish and texture are like when seeing a brand-new Crayon in person.
Also, this GT3 features black logos and window trims, black tail lights, and wheels in a dark satin platinum shade, so I’m excited to see the live contrast of “Crayon × Black.”
Automatic Rev Matching on Upshifts
The 911 GT3 Touring is, of course, a manual transmission, but the May 2017 issue of the car magazine GENROQ mentioned that “during sporty driving, you can keep the throttle pressed while shifting gears; the engine momentarily adjusts ignition timing.” In other words, it automatically rev-matches on upshifts, and I’m eager to experience just how much smoother that makes driving.
PCCB
I’ve never driven a car equipped with PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes). PCCB is a brake system “proven to withstand the harsh demands of many racing series on the track.”
I used to think that on regular city roads, the difference from normal brakes might not be noticeable, but a blog I read said “even amateurs can clearly feel the difference. The weight reduction definitely improves driving performance.”
GT3 Delivery Timing
By the way, the tires on this GT3 are Michelin, which made my husband very happy. As for the delivery timing, because of Golden Week and the need to apply protective film, it’s expected to be around mid to late May.
Just about a month to go—hope the delivery day is sunny!
