Porsche’s New Interior Design Debuts in the New Cayenne
Porsche has announced a groundbreaking display and control concept for the new Cayenne’s interior called the Porsche Driver Experience, and here’s a brief overview of what it entails.
About the New Cockpit in the New Cayenne
The new Cayenne introduces an innovative “display and control concept” that consolidates all essential driving controls around the steering wheel, enhancing driver operability.
Prioritizing driver usability and visibility, it features a fully digital instrument cluster with a distinctive 12.6-inch curved display. The drive mode switch, volume controller, and controls for the optional head-up display are also integrated into the steering wheel.
Optional Passenger Display
Passengers in the front seat also benefit from the new interior design. As an option, a 10.9-inch passenger display has been newly installed, allowing control of navigation and media services.
Additionally, a special film prevents the driver from viewing the passenger display, ensuring privacy.
Luxurious and Sporty Interior
This interior design emphasizes a sporty atmosphere combined with luxury.
With a design that accentuates width, it creates an overall sense of spaciousness. The new air conditioning panel features a black glass surface that conveys a high-quality impression. Also, the smartphone storage area comes standard with an inductive charger equipped with cooling functionality, enabling fast charging up to 15 watts.
Since smartphones often get very hot while charging inside the car, this is a very welcome feature.
Furthermore, integration with online services has been expanded, allowing vehicle functions to be operated using the Siri voice assistant.
Summary
The interior design of this Cayenne basically follows the Taycan’s interior design, with no major visual differences.
However, there appear to be updates in detailed equipment and controls, with the key point being that it is designed so that as many operations as possible can be completed by the driver around the steering wheel.
It’s unclear what the Japanese specification will be like, but we hope improvements have been made to the navigation system, which was not well received in the Taycan.
