In November, It’ll Be Time to Say Goodbye to This Panamera

Our Car Life

My Beloved Panamera

Today, I’m driving the Panamera to Kyoto for work. I could take the train, but there are several transfers, and if the connections don’t line up, I could end up waiting quite a while on the platform. So I’ve decided to drive.

The truth is, November will probably bring my time with this 970 Panamera Edition to an end.

It’s been about a year and a half since this Panamera joined our family. During that time, our second child was born, and we haven’t managed to go on as many drives as we’d hoped. We haven’t traveled far enough to look back and say, “This Panamera and I went to so many places together!”

Our longest trip was probably to Yonago—and even that was for work. So before we part ways this fall, I’d like to take this Panamera to as many places as I can.

Making the Most of Our Panamera

Thankfully, neither of our daughters gets carsick. Still, after a few hours in the car, they get bored and tired and start to fuss, so four hours is about the limit for a family outing. We once drove the Panamera to Ise, stopping for breaks along the way, and just barely made it there.

Even so, I’d love to take the Panamera along the Venus Line. I’d like to drive around Hokkaido, too. A trip to Aso might be a bit much for us just yet, but I’d love to go there as well. Maybe the Ibukiyama Driveway would be doable… I’ve got all kinds of destinations running through my mind.

Before saying goodbye to our current Panamera, I’d like to take at least a couple of longer trips and make some memories. Of course, the next car joining our family will be another Panamera, just as before. (Ha!)
