Making Our Dream a Reality: Touring Together in Two Cars

A Drive Up Royu Driveway
Yesterday evening, my husband headed out, saying, “I’m just going for a little drive.” Later, I took our daughter to drop off some laundry at a nearby dry cleaner. Just as we arrived, a message came in from my husband.
“It’s cool and lovely up at Royu. Why don’t you come up after you drop off the laundry?”
I thought, “If we go now, dinner’s going to be late.” But chances like this don’t come around often, so I decided to go for it. When I reached the entrance to Royu Driveway, my husband was waiting with his car pulled over.
He signaled, “I’m going ahead,” and I followed him onto Royu Driveway.
The Panamera’s acceleration is incredible, but my husband’s Boxster has a manual transmission, and he’s a much more skilled driver—so I was doing my best just to keep up. Our daughter called out, “Dad, wait up! Mom, hurry up!” I told her, “I’m trying, but this is as fast as I can go…” Before we knew it, we’d reached the Higashi-Rokko Observatory.
A Porsche Tour for Two
I found myself wishing Royu Driveway were longer before you reach the observatory. Then again, we could always keep driving instead of stopping there. I’d never gone on a tour with anyone before, so the experience felt wonderfully new. So this is what it’s like to go for a drive together.
The kids are still little, but once they’re older and need us a bit less, a two-car road trip with my husband sounds like a great idea.
Actually, I really want to do it.
Still, touring in the Panamera’s large frame can be a bit of a challenge. I imagine a 911 would be more fun on mountain roads and winding routes… but even so, I think I’ll always love my Panamera.
