Thank You So Much It finally happened: this blog has passed the 100-reader mark. I started it 57 days ago, after my husband said, “If you love the Panamera that much, why not start a blog or something?” On a whim, I signed up for a Hatena account and began writing about my rather passionate love for the Panamera. At first, the daily visitor count was only “2” or “5,” so I kept writing at...
A Visit to My Husband’s Family Home Yesterday, our family of four drove to my husband’s family home in our Panamera for a memorial service. A little while after we arrived, an older relative came over and asked: “Whose big white car is parked out front?” The people around him started asking, “Whose car? What does it look like?” But it was obvious he meant our Panamera. My husband didn’t say anything, and it would...
I Prefer Looking for Myself “Don’t you use the rearview camera?” My husband and mother often ask me when I’m parking. When parking the Panamera, I really don’t look at the camera very often. Instead, I usually check the side mirrors and rearview mirror. I don’t trust machines! You can’t beat looking for yourself! That’s what I used to say, but the truth was I simply wasn’t used to looking at the camera. The other...
A Little Story About Our Eldest Daughter Our eldest daughter is almost four, and she has a remarkably observant nature. Her kindergarten teacher has told us, “Even when she draws, she pays close attention to the details and tries to look carefully at everything and reproduce it.” I’m the opposite: I’m more of a big-picture person who thinks, “Forget the details—if you’ve got the general idea, that’s good enough.” I’m reminded every day just how...
A Change of Heart… Thanks to all of you, this blog is about to reach 100 readers. Thank you! It’s been almost two months since I started writing this blog, and something has changed significantly for me: I’ve decided to buy a Panamera. You might be thinking, “Wait, haven’t you been saying that all along? Wasn’t that already the plan?” Well, not quite. Before I started the blog, I was only thinking, “It would be...
I Love the Panamera I absolutely love the Panamera. In an earlier blog post, I tried to explain why I love the Panamera like this: “Ah, the Panamera—what an incredible car….” Drive it every day, and it still finds a way to amaze you. It commands attention, even just sitting in a parking lot. It has the presence of a true heavyweight. It surges onto the highway with effortless acceleration. Its engine sounds wonderful. The...
Sun Sleeves In summer, I often see women driving with sun-protection sleeves (arm covers). But I’d always pictured them as something older ladies wore, so I’d decided they weren’t for me. (Never mind that I’m no spring chicken myself.) Then, the other day, I was driving on the highway under an unbelievably intense sun, and my arms started to feel like they were sizzling. “I’m going to get sunburned at this rate!” I thought, and...
Washing the Panamera With two young children—and my younger daughter, still a baby, not yet in daycare—finding time to wash the Panamera myself during the day isn’t easy. I could probably grit my teeth and try washing it while carrying her in an Ergobaby carrier as my older daughter is at kindergarten, but there’s a very real chance she’d get splashed and start crying. I’m also usually short on sleep, so I’d rather take it...
Dragon Quest XI Is Here! The long-awaited Dragon Quest XI went on sale recently. I’m part of the Dragon Quest generation and spent plenty of time playing Dragon Quest III, so I’m sure I’m not the only thirty- or forty-something whose heart is racing at the thought of a brand-new game. With the new Dragon Quest release in the news, I came across something called “Dragon Quest Life Lessons.” Apparently, it made the rounds online...
The Supercars We Dream About I came across this article: Top 20 Most Popular Imported Cars by Make and Type, Plus Used-Car Prices It included a ranking titled Top 3 Dream Supercar Brands. Here’s how the brands placed: 1st: Ferrari 2nd: Lamborghini 3rd: Porsche That got me thinking about M, a classmate from my university seminar. Back then, he used to say with real passion, “One day, I’m going to buy a Ferrari!” M’s Dream...
