The Allure of the Porsche 911 (992): The Joy of Throttle Control

Throttle Control in the Porsche 911 (992)
The other day, I shared an article praising the base model of the 992 Porsche 911, and I mentioned that my husband’s Porsche friends were also amazed and impressed by the performance of the 992 base model.
When I later asked one of them what exactly they liked so much, they said:
“The handling and solid suspension feel almost comparable to a GT3,” and on top of the high driving performance, the throttle control felt incredibly satisfying.”
Actually, just a few days before, when I took a rare drive in the 992, I also felt that the throttle control was unbelievably satisfying, and I shared this with my husband.
Until now, whenever I had the chance to drive a Porsche, my impressions were usually about “great handling,” “strong brakes,” “solid chassis with excellent road contact,” “speed,” and “high-speed stability.” But I hadn’t really been deeply moved by the throttle control itself.
However, after driving the 992 recently, the feeling of “joy in throttle control” stood out the most, so when my Porsche friend talked about how wonderful the throttle feel was, I truly thought, “The 992’s throttle is something special.”
The 992 Surpasses Even the Panamera (971)
When we had the 971 Panamera Turbo at home, I also felt that its throttle control was incredibly impressive. The pedal had no play, and it felt like you could operate it with millimeter precision… subtle inputs were very easy to make.
However, once you pressed beyond a certain point (still just a few millimeters), it would suddenly surge forward with a “vroom!!!” — like waking a sleeping lion that is the Panamera Turbo — which made it a bit challenging to control at higher speeds.
On the other hand, the 992’s throttle feel is even more refined than what I experienced in the Panamera. It allows for even more delicate pedal control exactly as you wish. It’s as if your foot is glued to the pedal, moving as one with it, and the engine responds perfectly in sync.
That’s why it feels so incredibly satisfying.
A few years ago, when I had no interest in cars at all, I thought cars were just a means of transportation, so I never imagined there was a whole world of amazing handling and throttle control to appreciate.
Anything that is crafted carefully and thoughtfully with passion captures the user’s heart and moves them. I’m sure the same can be said for watches, cooking, and many other things in life.
The more I learn, the deeper the world of cars becomes. With my kids still young and the current circumstances limiting our freedom, I can’t move around as much as I’d like, but once I’m freer, I look forward to driving many different cars from various manufacturers.
