My wife's 992 Carrera T has been in our home for a few weeks now. I have found time to ride it in various situations, but I have not finished breaking it in yet, so you will have to wait a little longer for the final review.

This time, instead, I will focus my blog on what kind of 911 is the Carrera T? This time, instead, I would like to write a blog focusing on what kind of 911 is the Carrera T?

History of the Porsche 911 Carrera T: Consistent Purism

First generation Porsche 911T: 1968-1973

The origins of the Porsche 911 Carrera T date back to 1968.

The first-generation Porsche 911T (not "Carrera T") was, as the "T" indicates, a certified touring car.The "T" stands for "touring" for the purpose of applying for official approval to participate in the touring car class, and refers to a model that provides a pure driving experience for the driver.

Although initially positioned as a lower-priced alternative to the Porsche 912, it shared the same cylinder head and valve diameter as the 911S, and was also used as a base car for racing.

This first model was offered until 1973,For the next several decades, the name "T" would disappear from history.

Revival of the 911 Carrera T: 2017

In 2017, Porsche revived the 911 Carrera T in the later years of the 991.

This was in the spirit of the first model, which featured a simple but exceptionally sporty setup. It offers options such as rear axle steering, which was only available in the S and above, and is lightweight. It is still fresh in our minds that it was presented as the little brother of the late 991 GT3 Touring Package that came out at the same time.

A manual transmission can be selected (unfortunately, only PDK is available for the Japanese version),It was a 911 for Porsche purists who wanted to drive.

This concept was later incorporated into other model lines such as the 718 Cayman T, 718 Boxster T, and Macan T.

Engine and Performance

The new 911 Carrera T isbetween 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S.Located in

The car is powered by the base model Carrera's twin-turbo engine with 283 kW (385 PS) and 450 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 291 km/h. Rear seats are omitted as standard,Lightweight glass and lithium-ion batteries further reduce weight.

The vehicle weight is 1470 kg,The 911 Carrera T with manual transmission is the lightest of the 911 Carrera series.

Chassis and suspension

For the 911 Carrera T,Sport Chrono package and PASM sport suspension (-10 mm) are standardIt is a feature that the Carrera T offers only in combination with the 385-PS engine.

Upon request, the Carrera T can also be ordered with an optional rear axle steering wheel, which is usually only offered on Carrera S and higher models. Since I was in the mood for one, I did not hesitate to install this one.

They wear 20- and 21-inch Titanium Gray Carrera S wheels and 245/35 (front) and 305/30 (rear) tires, respectively.

Exterior and Interior

On the exterior, the 911 Carrera T has door mirrors, rear emblems, and rear engine hatch,It is painted in agate gray,It sets itself apart from other models. The tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are finished in high-gloss black to emphasize a more dynamic appearance.

In particular, the agate gray insert color on the door mirrors is very cool, and I am ashamed to say that I did not notice this until the car was actually delivered, but it is very sporty and stylish.

The interior features Sport Seat Plus as standard equipment. In our Carrera T, we chose the 18-way, but the 992 is still limited to the "Sport Seat Plus".The comfort, especially the thickness of the seat, is completely different from the "sport seats" I chose for the Carrera Cabriolet.

And the optional Carrera T Interior Package is available, which we chose without hesitation this time. In addition, my family decided to add the interior package, a zero-cost option, and set the interior with decorative panels in the same color as the body (crayon).

911 with emphasis on driving feel

The 992 Carrera T was the newest addition to our family a few weeks ago.

In this issue, we explore its existence in depth and take a closer look at its history, characteristics, and the details of its current model.

The Porsche 911 Carrera T has maintained the spirit of "purism" since its birth.

Type 992 Porsche 911 Carrera T

The first generation model was designed to provide the driver with a pure driving experience, and this philosophy is still strongly present in today's models. Its lightweight design and high-performance engine are extremely well balanced, making it the ideal choice for Porsche enthusiasts seeking a pure driving experience.

While the new Carrera T appears to be basically a middle ground between the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S, its reality is much more than that. The engine performance, chassis configuration, attention to weight reduction, and interior and exterior design are all calculated to further enhance the driving experience.

Together, they form the best partner for drivers who love pure driving. It is not only for sports driving, but also for everyday use. This is a 911 that is more about feeling than simple speed.

Especially this time, we selected numerous options for our Carrera T.Sport seats plus, rear axle steering wheel, Carrera T interior packageand so on, each of which further enhances the appeal of this car.

For a car with this much appeal, the price is understandable. If you choose a Porsche for reasons of driving purity, the 992 Carrera T is the best choice to satisfy those reasons.

I will continue to update regularly on my days with the Carrera T and my driving experience.

See you in the next update.

  1. Waiting for Porsche Carrera T

    I always enjoy reading it.

How much difference would it make without sound insulation due to weight reduction?
    Is it ever rather good?

If I see you somewhere, I might be so happy that I call out to you.
Please do not let us know at that time.

Hello, waiting for Porsche Carrera T,

Thank you for reading our blog.

As for how much of a difference omitting the sound insulation material to save weight makes, in general it tends to increase the noise level inside the car, and since the body weight is reduced, it is expected to improve the athletic performance. But our Carrera T has a rear seat, so I don't think we will notice that much change in terms of noise. (Compared to the Carrera Cabriolet)

If you have a chance to meet with us, please do not hesitate to contact us! I look forward to it.

Thank you for your continued support.

    That's nice.
We have a GTS MT, but I just wanted to drive a MT Carrera, so if the Carrera T had been available first, I would have definitely chosen the Carrera T.

Good morning. I always enjoy looking at your site. I'm driving a 981 Cayman s. How effective is the MT and weight reduction? Also, how is the break-in process working out for you? I have not been able to listen to the Twitter radio recently, so I am sorry if my questions are covered.
