Reviews & Test Rides

My husband recently wrote a report on a 1976 911S Targa that he was allowed to drive in the Ashiu Driveway. We would be happy if you could take a look at it.

Porsche 911S Targa

The Porsche 911 Targa has a special image. It is like a coupe but not a coupe, like a cabriolet but not a cabriolet.

Recently, theThe new 911 (992) Targa 4S has a Heritage Design Edition limited to 992 unitsIt is also fresh in my memory. I heard that only a few of these will fit in Japan, and that they are very valuable. To begin with, even the regular Targa models are said to be fewer in number than the GT3It is the rarest grade of 911.

The Targa grade was originally conceived to meet the American safety standards of the time with an open body, but the styling from the side is very cool, and the Targa bar alone makes the 911's streamlined roofline stand out even more.

It is one of the grades of 911 that I personally would like to own someday, and it is not a 911 that I want to fly, but just a 911 that I want to drive gracefully.

This time, we will test drive a vividA 1976 911S Targa in Speedway GreenIt is. It has a displacement of 2.7 liters and delivers 164 PS.

In fact, this car is the one that was used in Porsche's event at Fuji Speedway, "Porsche Sportscar Together Day 2019The car was displayed with my 964 in the "964" section of the exhibition.

And one of the key features of this car is theThis is the fact that it is equipped with the "Sportmatic," a semi-automatic mechanism. This "Sportmatic" is simply called "Sportmatic".Manual transmission without clutch'.

I had heard about this car, but this would be my first time to drive it, until I got in it.

The owner said.

'The technology that brought the two pedal transmission to the world over 40 years ago is quintessential Porsche! It's amazing! And I thought I would never see a Sportmatic again, so I decided to buy one."

He said.

Above all, he fell in love at first sight with the matching green body color and frog face.

Experience the Porsche Targa in the passenger seat.

First, the owner drove and I rode in the passenger seat to experience the car.

Starting is completely normal, I don't feel any shocks or judder whatsoever.Usually starts out like a manual car with good clutch work. And if they don't tell you, you probably don't notice.

The engine sound was very much like an air-cooled Porsche. The mechanical noise is pleasant. It is not so loud that even the passenger can relax and enjoy the ride.

The suspension was replaced with a new one a few years ago, and the ride is very comfortable. The ride is very comfortable, with a grounding feeling, but still moist. If I had to choose between sporty and luxurious, I'd say it's a bit on the luxurious side.It is. It seemed similar to the 911SC that I had the opportunity to test drive the other day.

Shifting gears is completely natural.Feels like a normal manual car from first to second to third gearAnd my head in the passenger seat is not particularly shaky, it feels natural.I am amazed that a transmission with such a natural feeling was made in this era!It is.

Before I got on the car, I thought there would be more shift shock and shifting lag, but I was disappointed in a good way.

I am Mina's husband. We don't drive cars for fashion or status symbols. We like cars that are fun to drive, are good industrial products, and have a sense of the maker's intention...
