Suzuki Swift Sport: One-Month Inspection Complete | Porsche and Swift Sport, All Different and All Great

Swift Sport One-Month Inspection

My beloved Suzuki Swift Sport arrived at our home in early October. Time has flown by, and it was already time for the one-month inspection.

By the way, when I called to make the inspection appointment, I was a bit absent-minded (I’m basically always absent-minded) and accidentally said, “I’d like to book the one-year inspection, please!“… The person on the other end politely corrected me, “Yes, the one-month inspection… right?” which was pretty embarrassing.

Lately, these kinds of things have been happening more than ever. I really wonder if my brain is okay… (laughs)

Before the inspection, my husband said,

It seems the Swift Sport doesn’t require a break-in period, but I think it’s better to treat the first month as a break-in. Try to drive around 1,000 km before the one-month inspection. It would be good to have the engine oil changed at that time, don’t you think?

So, I made sure to drive every day, sometimes heading to Osaka or taking the highway, and managed to bring it in with about 1,050 km on the odometer.

During the one-month inspection,

1) Interior Inspection
Brake performance, parking brake lever play, low-speed and acceleration conditions
2) Engine Bay Inspection
Power steering oil leaks and level, brake fluid reservoir level, battery terminal looseness or corrosion, fuel leaks, engine oil dirt and level, fan belt looseness or damage
3) Suspension Inspection
Wheel bolt and nut looseness
4) Undercarriage Inspection
Brake hoses and pipes for leaks, damage, and mounting condition; transmission and transfer oil leaks and levels; differential oil leaks and levels; engine oil leaks

These checks took about 30 minutes, and they also changed the oil. They reported no issues or defects.

Actually, before the inspection, I had driven on the highway at night, and the front of the car was covered with bugs and grime, so I had a faint hope of “getting a car wash would be nice,” but unfortunately, there was no car wash service.

Well, that makes sense. I’ll just have to wash it myself properly.

Rediscovering Porsche’s Excellence

The Swift Sport is a fantastic car—easy to drive, light, fast, and fun. The manual transmission’s shift lever feels great to operate, with such a perfect fit that I want to keep my left hand on it all the time.

I’ve been driving the Swift Sport almost every day for the past month, and I even told my husband,

Maybe I don’t need a Porsche anymore. The Swift Sport is just too good. I want to keep driving it forever.

But recently, after a while, I drove the Boxster GTS and the Cayenne again and realized:

Porsche really is amazing.

(Of course)

Porsche Boxster GTS

When driving the Boxster, I felt the solid build, the rigidity, the well-crafted suspension, the connection to the road, the steering weight, and the smooth, satisfying operation of the shift lever…

Wow, Porsche really is incredible. No wonder it’s expensive. You can feel the quality and craftsmanship everywhere.

I felt that deeply.

Then, driving the Cayenne, I was reminded of its luxurious, smooth ride as if gliding on a carpet, its quietness, and how it accelerates firmly and quickly when you push the pedal. It’s truly a well-made, stress-free car.

Before the Swift Sport arrived at our home, I was driving Porsches daily and had honestly gotten used to their performance and comfort.

Also, after driving the very rigid 911 (992 model), when I switched to the 981 Boxster, I thought,

The suspension feels quite soft—kind of floaty.

However, now that I usually drive the Swift Sport, whenever I get behind the wheel of a Porsche, I appreciate its excellence even more.

On the other hand, I also clearly understand that the Swift Sport is a great car with a completely different appeal from Porsche. It runs lightly and nimbly, is fun even at low speeds, and feels like a true partner.

It’s easy to maneuver, can go anywhere, and park anywhere.

It’s fun and carefree to drive, so I want to drive it every day.

Lately, I’ve also been practicing rev-matching with the Swift Sport, and as I gradually get better, I find myself grinning while driving from sheer joy (laughs).

On social media, I often see posts where people try to one-up each other with their cars, but I don’t think there’s any “better” or “worse.”

They just have different charms, and as long as you enjoy driving and feel fulfilled, that’s what matters. I hope to continue fully enjoying my car life with my beloved vehicles.
