Touch Panel and Button Operations of the Porsche Panamera – Five Handy Features

Touch Panel Operation
It’s been about nine months since our Panamera was delivered. I’ve finally gotten used to the buttons around the steering wheel and the touch panel operations. When I was still unfamiliar, my husband would say from the side, “Why don’t you turn on the idling stop?” and I’d panic, asking, “Wait, where is that!?” But now, that confusion is gone.
So today, I’d like to introduce five convenient functions of the buttons on the steering wheel and touch panel.
①♢ Button
The one I use most often is the “♢” button on the right side of the steering wheel.
This button can be freely assigned to toggle the sports exhaust on and off or other functions, but in our household, it’s set as the idling on/off button, so I use it frequently. You can also display an “idling stop button” on the home screen of the touch panel, but
having to glance down and touch the panel every time is a hassle, so I think the “♢” button on the steering wheel is the most convenient.
② Resetting Trip Distance After Refueling
Next up is the “trip distance reset” button I often use after refueling. On the left side of the steering wheel, there’s a rotary knob.
Turn it to select the second meter from the left, which shows the trip distance,
then press and hold for a few seconds (about 2 seconds?) until it blinks. Release it, and the display resets to “0.0.”
At first, I didn’t know where to operate this button, so I hadn’t reset the trip distance at all, but my husband taught me, and I finally understood.
③ Adjusting the Passenger Seat
This is something I often use when my daughter rides in the passenger seat: you can adjust the passenger seat from the driver’s side. It’s convenient because you don’t have to unbuckle the seatbelt and awkwardly lean over to the side of the passenger seat; you can operate it with the buttons on your own driver’s seat.
First, select “Settings” (SET) and then “Vehicle Settings.”
Next, select “Seat Settings.”
Then, the option “Passenger Seat Position” appears at the top, so select that.
You’ll see a screen like this:
When you operate your own driver’s seat buttons, the passenger seat moves accordingly. Finally, press “✕ Complete Seat Adjustment” to finish. It’s really clever how it’s designed.
My 4-year-old daughter always says, “Mommy is moving it with magic!” when I adjust the seat, and she’s completely convinced by my magical powers for now… Looks like “Mommy is a magician” will work for a few more years (laughs).
