The story of letting go of Porsche 981 Boxster Cayman and regretting

981 Boxster/Cayman

Last year, I decided to start something new.youtube channelThe company opened a

Porsche youtube

In the past, I have introduced the sound of a car's engine and driving conditions, but it is difficult to update casually because it is very time consuming to photograph and record, and editing is also quite time-consuming, so I have not updated this page at all recently.

Nevertheless, it seems that people are watching our videos on a regular basis, and we often receive comments on our videos. The other day, I received this comment on a video of the Boxster GTS engine sound.

'TheI truly regret giving up my 981.... Because Porsche will never make a car with this sound again (EU environmental regulations).'-' (used in place of '-')

I told my husband that I had received these comments

I guess that's true... I too have been on Twitter for some time now.I regret giving up my 981 Cayman and Boxster.or ".I can't let this goI've seen a number of tweets that say, "I'm not sure how many people are thinking that way," so maybe there are a lot of people out there who are thinking that way.

and then found the actual Tweet and showed it to me (below are some of those who are not under lock and key).

I see...!

I certainly love the sound of the engine in my 981 Boxster GTS. It's not a pure mechanical sound, but it's staged," and there are pros and cons, but it's very pleasant and I like it.

I was so thrilled that I had previously been asked to write a letter to the "If you sell this, I will buy it back from you on the spot and I will never let it go from my home!My husband once laughed at me when I said, "I'm sorry, I don't know what to say. But that's how great a car it is.

Porsche Boxster GTS

And now my husband is.

I will never sell my Boxster GTS. It's a real classic, and the sound of the engine is amazing. I don't think there are many cars that give me such a high level of happiness when I drive them.

He said, "Last year, I realized that even though the loan was paid off long ago, I had not put the name of the loan in my name, so the loan company changed the name to my name and said, "This clears things up...I was deeply moved," he said.

Why I didn't let go of my 981 Boxster GTS

My husband looks at CarSensor every day to gather a lot of information about cars that interest him and that he wants in the future, and this is what he said about the 981 Boxster GTS.

There were quite a few 981 Boxster Caymans in good condition on the used car market until 2020 or so, but lately it's really dwindled down. At this point, there are even fewer of them than the 981 Spyder.
After the 718 was released a short time later, more and more people replaced it with the higher-performance 718, but "As for the engine noise, I liked the 981.I wonder if this is the situation we are in now, because many people started to say, "I'll buy a 981," and from there, more and more people started to buy 981s.
Also, mine is.Left-hand drive MTIf we give it away now, we may never get another one in good condition.
In fact, one of my acquaintances has asked Porsche dealers nationwide about used 981GTS cars, and they say there really aren't any. Even if they do, there are so many people waiting for them that they are sold before they appear on used car websites.
At the time I bought it, it didn't get that much attention and could be purchased normally, but I never thought it would become so popular now.

And.

Porsche Boxster GTS

My wife and I love our 981 Boxster GTS, but for a while, we were "in the mood" to buy a 981 Boxster GTS.I may not need a Boxster. There was a time when I thought, "I'm not going to be able to do that. It was.911GT3 (991 type) was deliveredsometimes911 Cabriolet (992 type) was delivered. It is time.

The performance of the 911GT3 is tremendous, and the handling of the car is far above that of a regular 911, making it a true racing car.

I knew the GT3 was awesome! This performance is out of a league of its own. This stimulation is addictive!I've been driving a GT3 for a long time now, so when I drive a Boxster for the first time in a while, I kind of feel like I'm missing out...I wonder if the Boxster is no longer needed.

and so on.

Also, later, when the 911 Cabriolet was delivered, the performance of the latest Porsche was truly amazing, and because it was a Cabriolet, the roof was open, and when I drove the Boxster afterwards, I found that "I'm not as impressed with the Boxster as I used to be, because the 992 is so much better in performance and the roof opens up.I thought, "I'm not going to be able to do that.

However, about six months later, the couple began to have a change of heart.

The Boxster's supple suspension is now more appealing than the GT3 and 911, which had a more solid suspension, and the Boxster's corner handling is different from the 911, which turns sharply, but turns smoothly, lightly, and rhythmically. The Boxster's driving is very pleasing to me.

The sound of the engine can be heard even at low speeds, the comfort and ease of driving in town, the fun that only a manual transmission can provide, and the wonderful feeling of being in an extraordinary environment when the roof is open, even in the city....

I have come to realize anew the appeal of the Boxster, which is fun in any situation. Therefore, my husband is

I'm glad I didn't go too fast then. When I test drive new Porsches and such, they are so far above what I own now in terms of performance that I think, "I don't think I need my current car anymore. But I think it's important to wait for six months or so and not rush to sell.
After six months, I can discover new charms again, and sometimes I'm glad I didn't sell it at that time.

He said.

The famous 981 Boxster GTS. when I used to drive my MT car every day, I could drive my MT Boxster as well as I wanted, but nowadays I rarely drive MT cars, and when I drive a Boxster, I think, "I'm not a very good driver.I often think, "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

I hope that my MT car will be delivered soon (they are still waiting for the production of the MT car due to lack of parts), and I will be able to drive the Boxster GTS every day and practice again so that I can enjoy the thrill of driving it as if it were my own hand and foot.

    Good morning, Mina.

How timely and something I didn't want to see as I'm giving up my 981 Spyder in a week! (LOL)
As you said, even though there is a ballpark problem, the reason I thought about selling the 981 Spyder was because I thought I could just buy a new 981 Boxster GTS.
I'd like to buy it somehow, even if I find myself in a situation where the price goes up like an air-cooled 911 (which has already formed a much stronger market). No, I have to buy it (lol).

It is a little looser than the razor-solid feel of the Spyder, and the electric top gives it a great sound effect.
I honestly wished I had bought the GTS instead of the Spyder (I would have said the same thing if I had bought the GTS anyway).
The 911 Cabriolet is still too much car for me (not in price, but in driving feel), so this time it's a Ferrari California, but I hope to see you again when I visit Ashiu with my family!

So only one week to go...!
      I'm going to miss you a little for a while... ><(なんて言ったらだめですね、すみません笑) GTSとスパイダーだと、やはりGTSの方が色々と普段遣いはしやすいのだろうなぁと思っております。 フェラーリ カリフォルニアで、ぜひ芦有にお越しくださいー^^! 芦有展望台とフェラーリ、ものすごくキレイな写真が撮れそうですね!

    Hello.

I just gave away my 981 Cayman on May 29. It was a base grade with no spoeg, but it sounded so good I thought it would never show up in a new Porsche in the future. I heard that it is still very popular and has already found its next owner.

It was a really satisfying car. Small, good sounding, fast, and able to hold a lot of luggage (lol)...it was my own ideal car. It also gave me a goal to become a Porsche owner.
I felt that everyone who owns a Porsche is truly an amazing person.

I have been to Ashiu twice and once I had a chance to talk with her husband. (I don't know if you remember me...(^^;) I am a Cayman with lime yellow interior.) He seemed very fresh and soft, and I enjoyed talking with him.

      >I just gave away my 981 Cayman on May 29th.
Ew! Have you already found the next owner...
      Amazing...!
      It is still very popular.

      >Twice I have been to Ashiari, and once I spoke with your husband!
      Thank you!
I asked my husband about it and he said, "Oh, I remember! I told you about it because I thought it was an unusual color, and that was a long time ago!" He said, "That was a long time ago!

It's amazing how many people continue to own Porsches...
I thought I would do my best.

Thank you for your continued support.

  3. 981GTS

As I have written before, I bought 981CaymanGTSPDK after reading this blog.
It is true that it does not have absolute power, but it is fun to take it to the mountains. I have not yet driven the latest 992, but compared to the 991, I feel that the car turns quirkily around the driver's seat, is light and can be swung around, and above all, the sound is unique to this car.
Prices are high for the 981GTS, although the overall price of used cars has gone up due to COVID-19. The price of a good quality car is 8-9 million yen after 5 years, and the price does not go down at all. I think it is better not to drive it too much when I think about selling it, but I can't help but drive it.
The 3.4-liter engine delivers fuel economy of 7 km/h in city driving alone, and even double-digit fuel economy for long-distance driving, and the car has such a wide field of vision and cargo space that it does not feel like a sports car, and you do not have to worry so much about bumps (I am not in a sports chassis but a standard PASM).
The only thing that concerns me is the ride quality. The pavement conditions in our area are terribly poor (snowy and cold, with miscellaneous asphalt repairs due to the effects of freezing temperatures), and even when the air pressure is set to comfort mode, it hits hard (on clean roads, it rides flat and is super comfortable). Considering that my previous 981CaymanS had 19" tires and rode better than a bad sedan, I wonder if 19" is the best choice for the 981.

  4. good luck

Your opinion that we should wait six months to sell is very helpful.

I have driven many cars and sold some as early as a month ago, but the car I regret not selling at that time is still a Porsche.

The quality of a Porsche is often reaffirmed after it is sold.
The handling, acceleration, sound, braking, and ease of driving of a Porsche are so addictive, I can see why.

Choosing a car is often compared to love, but I wonder if those who sell and later regret it are the ones who keep dragging it out after the breakup lol.

By the way, has your husband ever regretted selling GT3?

    • Mina.Mina.

      Yoshikichi.
      Thank you!
Indeed, it seems to me that there are some similarities with the feelings we have toward our ex-lovers (laughs).

      >By the way, has your husband ever regretted selling the GT3?
I asked my husband about it.
I don't regret it at this point. I thought about it for quite a few months and decided to let it go.
Also, in the case of the GT3, I figured if I let it go now, I could buy it back later. 992GT3 sounds good too, and if I wanted to buy it, I could buy that.
That's what makes it different from the Boxster GTS."

    I drive a 2014 981 Cayman S.
Will a Cayman S have a GTS-like muffler and bubbling sound if I retrofit the spoeg?
I would like to know more about it, because if you look at 5ch, etc., there are posts about it being the same as the GTS if you retrofit the spoeg after the GTS appeared.
I don't think the bare bones can have the same sound as the GTS since the displacement is different, but the S is the same, so I'm curious.
I have contacted the dealer and they say that the S and GTS are almost the same spoeg.

    • Mina.Mina.

      YUKI.
      Thank you!

I asked my husband about it.
I can put a sport exhaust on my S and it sounds great and makes a bubbling sound, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get it to work.
It's not the same as the GTS, because the GTS has a special sound tuning for the GTS.
That said, if you put a sport exhaust on the S, it sounds soooo good!"

Hello. I always enjoy reading your articles. There are some cars that I regret selling. I have mainly driven Ferraris for a long time, but after a few months of losing my 328, 355, and 458, I felt a terrible sense of loss...especially the 355, which was a very emotional car...but I was encouraged by others to become a Porsche owner for the first time. I will soon take delivery of my 981 Boxster Black Edition, a 2.7L small displacement car with lots of options so I can get the most out of it and I can't contain my excitement. I am sure we will have a long relationship this time! I am sure...w

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. 19.
Thank you for visiting our blog.

So you've been driving mainly Ferraris!
981 Boxster Black Edition, I knew someone who drove one, and the black color was really cool.
He also said that the car was so much fun to drive that he found himself running about 20,000 kilometers in one year!

I wish you a long relationship next time...........................
