Reviews & Test Rides

My husband wrote a test drive review of his sister's BMW Mini Cooper that she purchased. Please take a look if you would like to read it.

I have written several articles on the delivery and review of my brother's car, and now it is time to talk about my sister. My sister is seven years older than me and the same age as my wife. She has been a paper driver for about 20 years, but now she has decided to take the plunge.Buy a carI did. I purchased a BMW Mini Cooper D (3 door).

At first, he was wondering whether to choose a Fiat or an Abarth or a Mini. He seemed to be torn between Fiat, Abarth, or Mini, but he settled on Mini. Why did you choose the Mini? I asked him, "Because I liked its design and atmosphere. He seemed to have bought it immediately on the day he went to the dealership.

While accompanying my sister in her driving practice, I drove the car myself a few times and would like to review it.

BMW MINI Cooper D exterior

The car in this case is a specification. It's a Mini Cooper in almost bare bones. What it comes with is the pepper package, LED headlights, chrome line exterior, and Union Jack side scuttles. The wheels are 15 in.Exterior color is British Racing Green with white roofIt is.

This British Racing Green is a very deep green and quite beautiful. The color asserts itself as a solid green in both bright and dark locations, and the British feel of the color fits well with the Mini's design.

Interior of BMW MINI Cooper D

The interior color is carbon black with standard firework seats. The seats are quite comfortable. To be precise, they are not particularly good holding or comfortable, but on the other hand, there is nothing wrong with them at all.The seat thickness, seat length, and texture are sufficient and I personally like the seat.

BMW MINI engine switch

The navigation system fits in a large circle on the center console and is easily visible. The tachometer seems a little less legible, but this is not that kind of car to begin with.

The overall texture of theWhile not high-end, it never feels cheap. While some cars in this class differentiate themselves by using high-end materials where they can reach, and cheap plastic where they can't, etc.In the case of the minis, the materials are the same all over, and they all have a certain amount of texture and feel. The points are favorable.

How does the BMW MINI Cooper D drive in the city?

Engine is started by a switch on the center consoleThe switches are of good quality and have a solid feel. The 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine wakes up with a relatively loud sound, although there is not much vibration.

The noise when idling isn't as loud in the car as it could be.The sound quality is diesel-like when heard outside, and the rattles are clearly audible.

BMW MINI shift selector

Put the shift selector in drive, much like a BMW, and start driving.7-speed DCT from this model.Yes, but it starts out very smooth and feels like a normal torque converter AT. Without being told, I had no idea whether this was a DCT or a torque converter AT.

Once you start driving, the diesel-like sound disappears like a lie. The diesel in this Mini makes no diesel-like sound at all when it starts driving. With a maximum torque of 270 Nm from 1750 to 2250 rpm, acceleration and deceleration in town are not stressful at all.

The way the car slows down at intersections and accelerates after turning is a very pleasing acceleration. Naturally, acceleration at traffic lights and on hills is also perfect. In the city, the lack of power is not felt at all.

On the other hand.At speeds where overtaking acceleration is performed at highway speeds, acceleration feels a bit mild.It is also true. Perhaps it is not so slow from a data point of view, but the good feeling of acceleration at low speeds in town makes us expect that same feeling of acceleration at high speeds, which makes it seem even milder.

BMW MINI Cooper D

As for the ride in town.Impression of surprisingly solid legsI had imagined that it would be softer and squishier than the 15-inch 65-square, but that is not the case at all. The sway bar may be thick for this class of car, and it may rock from side to side under heavy input at low speeds, but it flattens out as the speed picks up. It has the legs of a typical European car.

In general, the ride is comfortable, but some people who are accustomed to the legs of domestic cars may be bothered by the low-speed manners of the car if they switch to a domestic car.

I am Mina's husband. We don't drive cars for fashion or status symbols. We like cars that are fun to drive, are good industrial products, and have a sense of the maker's intention...
