Clubhouse Broadcast

Recently, we’ve been chatting together in a relaxed, radio-style format using Clubhouse, an invite-only audio SNS.

Every Saturday at 10 PM (for about an hour), we’ve hosted a room and broadcast 14 times so far, but since Clubhouse is currently only available on iPhone, we’ve often heard from Android users saying “I want to listen but can’t,” “I haven’t received an invite to the app, so I can’t join.”

Twitter Spaces Feature

Then, just a few days ago, Twitter added a new feature called “Spaces,” which lets you have real-time voice conversations on Twitter.

Think of Spaces as Twitter’s version of Clubhouse. The big difference is that there are no device restrictions like iPhone or Android—you just need a Twitter account to join any Space.

Also, created Spaces are public, so anyone can listen in as a listener, even without mutual follows.

This sounded great to us, so for tomorrow, Saturday the 8th at 10 PM, instead of Clubhouse, we’ll do a test broadcast using “Spaces.”

How to Join the Space

First, please update your smartphone’s official Twitter app to the latest version.

Currently, it seems you can’t schedule Spaces in advance (though this feature may be added later), so just before 10 PM tomorrow, I will open a Space on my Twitter account.

When I open the Space, a “blue (or purple?)” indicator like the one below will appear on my Twitter timeline:

Tap this to join as a listener.

You can listen to the Space on Twitter while simultaneously using your device for other tasks like emailing (just like Clubhouse), so it really feels like a casual radio show. If you have time, we’d love for you to tune in! (Following my Twitter account will make it easier to find.)
