How to Buy a Porsche

Porsche Dealership Goodies

The other day, I took my Boxster GTS in for its second annual service. H, my contact at the dealership, picked it up at home. The service took just half a day, and the Boxster was back in my driveway that evening. H also brought along a little gift bag containing two Porsche goodies.

What could they be? The black one is obviously a calendar.

I imagine plenty of people who’ve bought a Porsche or attended a Porsche event have one of these calendars.

A Look at the Porsche Photos

Here’s the first page after opening it up. I wonder why the Cayenne gets top billing. Maybe it’s the star of the show because a new model had just arrived.

The calendar has 12 Porsche photos on the left and the months of January through December on the right. That means you can pair any photo you like with the calendar and display them together. Here’s a look at the photos:

Photo 1: “911 Targa 4”

Photo 2: “Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo”

I couldn’t help thinking: not the Panamera, but the Panamera Sport Turismo?

Photo 3: “Macan Turbo”

Photo 4: “718 Cayman S”

Photo 5: “911 GT3”

The 911 GT3 looks fantastic in red or orange. Apparently, the dealership we use had received only a little over a dozen of them so far. Some dealerships hadn’t even been allocated one.

Photo 6: “911 GT3 Cup”

When I watched the Carrera Cup at Okayama International Circuit, the cars sounded incredible. And seeing around 20 Carrera Cup cars out on track together was less intimidating than it was downright cute.

Photo 7: “Cayenne”

Photo 8: “Macan S”

I feel like I see Macans in this color all the time around town.

Photo 9: “718 Boxster S”

There’s just something about being able to drop the top. By this point, though, I started wondering: “Wait, there’s no Panamera photo yet. The Panamera Sport Turismo already made an appearance,so does that mean that’s it for the Panamera?”

Then I turned to photo 10…

“Cayenne Turbo.”

The Cayenne again? No Panamera?

And photo 11 was…

The Mission E! It hadn’t even gone on sale yet. They included the Mission E but not the Panamera? Surely they weren’t saving the Panamera for the grand finale in photo 12. I figured the last spot would go to something like a 911.

So, with my hopes fading, I turned to photo 12…

There it is—the Panamera!

And it’s a Panamera Turbo, just like ours. (Different color, though.) We’ve already decided that this will be the photo on our calendar all year long.

The Other Porsche Gift

Then I wondered what the other goodie was, so I opened it up…

Huh? What is this—a light bulb? Here’s what it looked like once I took it out.

It seems to be an ornament for a Christmas tree.

Hmm… honestly, I don’t really need it.

Besides, we don’t even have a Christmas tree at home. Still, I’ll keep it as a souvenir. Porsche dealerships often give out some pretty nice gifts, so if I get another one, I’ll share it here.
