Driving a manual car - talking about the clutch as well as the gas pedal work being very important

My Family's Car Life

Accelerate slowly and gently.

In the past, when I could not drive a manual car at all, I was so preoccupied with operating the clutch that I had no time to think about anything else. At that time, I went on the Internet and found theWhen driving a manual car, it's the gas pedal that counts.I found a video called

When driving a manual car, we tend to focus on the clutch operation. When returning the accelerator, it is important to return it slowly and gentlyThe driver explained that this allows for smooth shifting without any strange shocks.

(This picture is of a 911 GT3 Cup car, but I couldn't find any other pictures of it with the pedals depressed)

I see. I honestly thought at the time, "It's true that gas pedal operation is important, but even if I know it in my head, in reality I don't have that kind of time to spare.

And the other day, when I drove my husband to the airport for a business trip in his BMW 320i, he pointed out to me that

Why don't you be more conscious of your gas pedal work? Instead of just making it a clear "on" and "off" thing.More jittery stepping on and off.I'm sure you're right. Then, there will be less shift shock, and driving will be smoother.
If you usually drive an AT car, you may not consciously operate the accelerator pedal, but if you drive a manual car, it is important to do so.

And.

I see. I tried driving with the accelerator in mind, but this time I lost awareness of the clutch and felt a violent "clunk" shift shock... (-_-)

Why, why do you always have to do only one thing?

My husband made fun of me lightly, but after trying it a few times, I gradually got a feel for it.

Yes, yes, it's like that. If you keep that in mind, you'll be able to operate it as smoothly as if you were driving an AT car.

And.

It's true that up until now my driving has been "Amateur manual operationAt that time, I thought again that my driving lacked smoothness. Since then, I have been consciously operating the accelerator pedal, but my usual habits come out as soon as I let my guard down, so I think I need to practice for a while.

Rotation adjustment during downshift

I've also been practicing for a little while now.Rotation adjustment during downshiftI've always secretly wanted to be able to drive like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible or Jason Statham in Transporter. I have secretly wished for a while that I could instantly adjust my turns and drive cool like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible or Jason Statham in Transporter.(That's totally in the movies, though.)

Also, when I used to drive my Boxster in the Ashiu driveway, every time I downshifted, I would hear "Boom! Boo-hoo!The auto-blipping function with the roar of the Boxster was very pleasing, and I also thought, "I wish I could do it like this with my own hands.

However, when I actually tried it, as usual, it did not go well at all... (-_-)

I had even tried practicing opening and matching when downshifting while driving on the highway, but all I could do was slow down and eventually connect the clutch in a huddle, instead of agitating the accelerator pedal.

And the other day. My husband told me about this video. It's called "You don't deserve to heel and toe! You're 100 years too young to downshift by stepping on the brake! Driving with a heel and toe is a 100 years old thing!

Awesome title (LOL) and also what was said in this video.

Instead of just blasting the accelerator pedal, it's better to do it while slowly stepping on the pedal beforehand. Let's practice from there first.

This was the case.

I see. I had been focused on operating quickly with a mere image, but now I see thatIn the end, no matter how far you go, it's important to operate carefully.I wonder.

And later. While driving on the highway, I decided to practice downshifting from 6th gear and accelerating. He said, "I think the truck in front of me is going to back away...While anticipating, "I'm going to slow down and downshift from 6th gear to 5th gear, and after the truck gives way, I shift down to 4th gear while slowly stepping on the gas pedal...

It went pretty smoothly, unexpectedly!

However, my BMW 320i doesn't have enough power or torque to accelerate from 4th gear on the highway. If possible, I would like to accelerate after dropping to 3rd gear.

So, I tried to shift down to 3rd gear, being aware of the accelerator, but I still get shift shock with my skill to shift to 3rd gear. I was like, "I'm not going toHmmm...that's difficult...I thought, "I need more practice," but after practicing a few times, I felt I had a slight sense of what I was doing, but I knew I needed more practice.

Nevertheless, it was very pleasant and exhilarating to accelerate from third gear and shift up while pulling the engine.

The more you drive and the more you know about cars, the deeper they really are.

Speaking of which, a follower of mine on twitter said to me about driving shoes.Surprisingly, Tabi ShoesYes, the one about the gardener or something. It's not a gag, but people who know what they're doing. LOL, they're flat-soled and thin, so it's easy to get a feel for them." He told me, "I'd like to try driving in a tabi someday (laughs).

  1. Cara.

    Good morning.
Both the gas pedal and the brake should be stepless and gradual.
I'm having a hard time too.
Gentle driving is good for both cars and people.
It is difficult to put into practice even though we know it in words.
I will devote myself to it.

      Mr. Cara.
Good morning! Thank you for everything!

      Cara's level of difficulty and mine are already on a different level... ^^..;

You are right. I think I have the image in my head.
It is very difficult to get a sense of it.
      I'll do my best!

It's really hard to get them to blip without resorting to auto.
I am not doing well yet either.
I envy you having a teacher next door.
I devote myself to watching YouTube every day.

By the way, there was a feature on Ashiari Driveway in this issue of 911DAYS.
I thought that the master's 964 might be in the picture, but as expected, I couldn't tell.
I live in the Kanto area, so it's hard for me to travel to Kansai, but I'd like to visit Ashiyu Driveway someday.

I hope to improve my driving skills a little more by then.

      K3
It's really hard to get them to blip on their own.
      The instructor is right next to me, but I have a hard time doing it, even though I understand what he is telling me;

      >Oh, by the way, there was a special feature on Ashiari Driveway in this issue of 911DAYS.

      Ah, you're listed!
My husband's 964 did not seem to be in the picture, but it seemed that someone my husband was working with at Ashi Ari was being interviewed.

If you ever get a chance to come up here, please do.
      Please come to Ashiari ^_^

(I, on the contrary, envy those who live in Kanto who can easily go to the Hakone Turnpike.)

Nice to meet you. I've never had the pleasure of being one step closer to Porsche, but I always enjoy reading your work. I think your writing is so captivating that you may soon make your debut as a writer.

For women with smaller foot size, the brake and clutch pedals are higher and may be difficult to operate due to heel lift. I have worked under the floor mats.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Mr. Side Machine.
Thank you for visiting our blog.
Thank you again for your kind words!

I'd be happy to make my debut as a writer, but
Every time I reread the article.
I think, "I'm not phrasing it right," or "I'm saying the same thing all the time."
I hope we can continue to move forward step by step.

      Oh, I see...!
There were times when my husband could maneuver without his heels floating, but I couldn't.
Yes, the size of the foot has a lot to do with it.
And thanks for the info on the floor mats!
Thank you for your continued support.
