Saw the Porsche Cayenne Coupe at the Dealer. So, What Now? Buy It?

Porsche Cayenne

Heading to the Porsche Center

The other day, I had some business at the Porsche Center, so I decided to visit with my family for the first time in months. I wondered how long it had been since our last visit. When we arrived, our contact person, Mr. H, came out to greet us. After taking care of my husband’s business, we started talking about potential replacements for our Panamera.

My husband is still very curious about the Taycan, saying,

Even though I’m hooked on the acceleration and response of the Note e-POWER NISMO S’s electric motor, I can’t help but wonder how amazing Porsche’s electric car, the Taycan, must be!

However, I heard that Taycan deliveries will probably be next year. (Prices haven’t even been announced yet.)

Hmm, next year feels a bit too far away… So when we mentioned that we’ve recently been interested in the Cayenne as well, we were told there was a Cayenne Coupe on display on the second floor, and we were invited to take a look.

First Time Seeing the Cayenne Coupe

I went upstairs casually thinking, “Oh, it’s on the second floor…” but I was genuinely surprised when I saw it with my own eyes! It was an incredibly cool spec.

This model is the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, with a Crayon body color, black-painted window frames and mirrors, PSCB (Porsche Surface Coated Brake), satin black 22-inch GT design wheels, and more.

Seeing this, my husband couldn’t help but say,

This is insanely cool! I think this spec has amazing taste. Maybe I’ll buy this one (laughs).

But this Cayenne Coupe was already sold. No wonder—it’s so cool it would sell immediately.

By the way, the PSCB brakes on this Cayenne are highly advanced brakes that maintain excellent and stable braking performance even under heavy load. Thanks to a new ceramic coating (tungsten carbide) on the surface, the cast iron brake discs keep their shine for a long time, resist rust and discoloration, and significantly reduce brake dust.

If you opt for PSCB, the brake calipers come in white.

Currently, the PSCB option costs 496,019 yen.

Looking at the Cayenne Coupe’s body design, the flyline inspired by the 911 really stands out. The streamlined shape from the middle to the rear is completely different from the regular Cayenne. The regular Cayenne has a boxy, SUV feel, but the Coupe definitely gives off a sportier impression.

This Cayenne Turbo also comes with the Lightweight Sports Package option, which adds satin black 22-inch GT design wheels and black-painted window frames and mirrors as accents.

And the price for this option? About 2 million yen (;゚Д゚)!! (There are three types of Lightweight Sports Packages.)

When I sat in the back seat, it was more spacious and comfortable than I expected. It feels a bit cozy, but it seems like three adults could fit reasonably well. (It can be configured as 2+1 seats.) Compared to the regular Cayenne, it feels less open, but it’s definitely roomier than the Macan.

The explanation was that the rear seat position is slightly lower in the Cayenne Coupe, so it doesn’t feel as cramped or closed-in as you might imagine.

Sitting in the driver’s seat felt just like the regular Cayenne. The familiar Panamera-style instrument cluster was comforting.

That houndstooth-patterned seat was incredibly stylish and cool. (This seat comes with the Lightweight Sports Package.)

I thought, “Nice!” but with kids who tend to spill things and stain seats, it’s definitely not an option for us right now.

Also, since this is a Turbo, the front grille design looks like this (kind of like two lines, I guess).

After spending some time admiring the Cayenne Coupe and chatting a bit, we left the Porsche Center, but choosing our next car is proving to be quite challenging. Since the Taycan delivery is farther off than expected, we’re debating whether to sell the Panamera before its inspection and switch to a Cayenne, or keep the Panamera and renew its inspection…

There’s still room for consideration.

What Does My Husband Think About the Cayenne Coupe?

After getting home, my husband configured the Cayenne Turbo Coupe online. The price of the one we saw, which was already sold, is probably around 23 million yen.

…That’s expensive (゚д゚)!

But Porsche’s ultra-cool sporty SUV will surely sell well. Regarding the Cayenne Coupe, my husband said,

Well, I want the Taycan, but since delivery will take some time, maybe going with a base Cayenne for now is an option, though the resale value is a concern… Oh, but the Coupe will probably be more popular, and since there will be fewer units initially, considering resale, maybe I should lean toward the Cayenne Coupe. If so, I want the S model with PDCC, Sport Exhaust, Sport Chrono, and PTV Plus. Also, I want PSCB… but that would make it insanely expensive… What should I do?

I’m happy with either the Cayenne or the Cayenne Coupe (laughs), but choosing a car really is tough, I realize more and more these days.
