Made a Video Featuring Only the Porsche Boxster Engine Sound (No Music at All)

Porsche Engine Sound
Lately, my husband has been obsessed—almost possessed—with faithfully recording the engine sound of his beloved car. I mentioned this on the blog before, but just the other day, he spent an entire day capturing the GT3’s engine sound. When he checked the recording at home, it wasn’t the quality he hoped for, and he said with frustration,
“No good! This won’t do! I have to redo it!”
After that, he upgraded his recording microphone (which means he now owns three recording mics), and promptly went out to Royu to record the Boxster’s engine sound. A few hours later, he came home looking very satisfied, quite the opposite of last time, saying, “This time I got a great take!” Then he added,
“Engine sounds cover a wide frequency range, so unless you have a wide-range mic, you can’t capture everything from deep bass to high tones properly. Of all the ones I tried, this new mic is the best.”
He also experimented with various microphone settings for recording engine sounds. When I listened to what he called “the best setting he could find for recording the Boxster’s engine sound”, it really sounded great. Putting on earphones and closing my eyes, I felt like I was right there in the moment. (Plus, it’s even better if the wind is blowing a bit, lol)
The Boxster Engine Sound Video
Encouraged by this, my husband later went out for a re-do of the GT3 engine sound recording. When he got home, he was excitedly listening to the recording, but his expression quickly turned serious… (-_-) When I asked, “What’s wrong? Didn’t it work?”, he said,
“No good, not good at all… (TдT)”
The GT3’s engine sound has a much deeper bass compared to the 981 Boxster GTS, so the mic settings he used last time didn’t capture the GT3’s engine sound well, and all the recordings were discarded.
When I listened to a sample, sure enough, the low-frequency sounds were distorted and muffled. It’s really tricky… He said,
“No luck this time either. I’ll have to re-record the GT3 again. This time I’ll check the sound as I go. So for now, why don’t I make a video using the Boxster’s engine sound? Judging by this, for air-cooled, Panamera, and each model, I’ll probably have to adjust the mic settings individually to capture proper engine sounds.”
Well, he’s not a pro, and it doesn’t have to be that serious, but knowing my husband, he can’t release anything he’s not fully satisfied with (lol).
So, recently there have been several Boxster videos, and I made a third one.
This time, it’s a video with no music or sound effects—just pure engine sound. A video that’s just engine sounds and footage of a man driving might sound like a total weirdo’s video, but I think car enthusiasts will enjoy it (lol).
Please enjoy it with earphones or headphones. By the way, these are the earphones my husband recently bought and really likes, but due to popularity, they are currently on backorder.
They’re quite pricey, huh?
Actually, I want to make a Panamera video too, and I’ve been expanding my ideas by watching various Panamera videos dozens of times, but it’s not easy to shoot. I think the best plan is for my mother-in-law to stay over at our place, and then my husband and I can seriously go out and shoot together. Also, I’d love to film footage of me (a woman) driving a Porsche.
So, please enjoy the Boxster engine sound video.
