Porsche 911 (air-cooled 964 model) all suspension replaced with genuine parts!

Porsche 911
Porsche Maintenance Costs

My husband recently had the suspension of his air-cooled Porsche totally replaced, and he wrote an article about it and the changes in driving afterwards. Please take a look if you like.

911 Carrera 2 (air-cooled 964)

Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (air-cooled 964 model) has been in our house for 2 years this fall! The The mileage is about 66,000 km. The other dayover batteryThe only problem is that there was a "problem" with the system, but nothing major.

I've never been the type to be that interested in classic or old cars, but the reason I bought the 964 in the first place was becauseI want to know about air-cooled Porsche when talking about Porsche.I thought it was a good idea. I actually bought it and rode it.It is hard to believe that the car was made about 30 years ago.I was astonished that a manufacturer called Porsche was so advanced at that time.

Once you get to know the allure of an air-cooled Porsche like that. What was the condition of this new car like? This is what I am interested in. Of course, if I'm going to replace parts with new ones anyway, I suppose I could go in the direction of customizing them with external parts to pursue uniqueness.Personally, in terms of overall performance and balance, no tuner surpasses Porsche's Weissach Institute.I think.

So.Let's refresh it with all genuine parts and make it as close to a new car as possible.I thought.

Bring your 911 to the store.

That's where this 964's doctor, Dr.B-ForceThe first thing he did was to take a look at the car and identify what needed to be changed and what did not. First, he took a look at the car and identified areas that needed to be changed and areas that did not need to be changed. After taking into consideration the budget and the effects of the changes, we finally decided to replace the following parts. (Some minor parts have been omitted.)

  • Front Upper Mount
  • Front shocks complete set
  • Front Stabilizer Bushing
  • linkage
  • Complete set of rear shocks
  • Rear upper mount
  • Rear Stabilizer Mount
  • stabilizer linkage
  • Tiptromount
  • rubber-buffer
  • Tiptro Support
  • Engine mounts (left and right)
  • Tie Rod End
  • joint hawk

Such as.

I won't go into detailed unit prices, but it seems that the price of classic Porsche genuine parts has gone up over the years. One genuine shock costs about 100,000 yen.So, that's 400,000 for four bottles alone. This time, theThe refreshment cost about 1,250,000 yen, including labor and other expenses. The first time, the company was in a position to do so.

About two weeks after I dropped off the car, I received a call that the car was ready and went to pick it up. I was informed that the car was finished and I went to pick it up. When I asked him about it, he said, "I guess so.The shocks were very worn out, so new shocks would raise the ride height. It seems.

."Were you that screwed up?The president of BFORCE showed me a shock that he had removed by pushing it with his hand. He said, "I'm sorry, but I can't help it.Normally, they don't shrink with such light force, but these shrink easily, don't they? And.

Porsche 911 rear and front shocks

Indeed, if you touch and look at it yourself, the shocks shrink easily with just a little force. "I didn't realize it was so badly damaged. But I didn't feel that the ride was that uncomfortable or particularly unstable? When asked, "What are you doing?" the president

."That is the great thing about Porsche.A normal car would notice this immediately. However, Porsche cars are designed to run properly even in this condition. That's why many of our customers think their cars are in good shape. And they don't realize it until they replace it (laughs).

And. I see.The extravagance of cost that Porsche spends on parts and structure compared to other manufacturers is amazing.I often hear people say, "I'm not a good person," and I guess it shows in these places.

After that, the president of the company told me "it was so lowered," "this is already wobbly," "this is distorted in shape," and many other things as I held the parts in my hands, and although the mileage of the car is still in the 60,000 km range, I was able to re-evaluate the car.Well, the effects of 28 years can't be ignored.I thought.

Next page→When I actually got on board, I couldn't help but say, "Wow, it's totally different"...!

I am Mina's husband. We don't drive cars for fashion or status symbols. We like cars that are fun to drive, are good industrial products, and have a sense of the maker's intention...

I read it with a phase of "yes, yes....

    I have been driving a 964C2MT/1990 for about 6 years. 82000km when I bought it, now 106790km.
Around the 90,000 kmm mark, the shocks were changed from damaged, ride-height-adjusted, runabout specs to near-normal Bilstein and Eibach shocks, and the ride became dramatically easier.
Around 10 kmm, we replaced the hub bearings and upgraded the brake rotors and calipers.
The engine was OH'd around 50,000 kmm and is in great shape.
Having never driven another 964, I imagine this is how it must have been in the past.

Now I would like to refresh the mount and bushing relationship.

      Mr. Kozzie521.
Thank you for visiting my blog!

I see you have over 100,000 kilometers!
I know it's a lot of work to be around for upgrades and maintenance, but...
It is also amazing that when well maintained, the car still runs as strong as it did when it was new.

I would be happy to learn more about the maintenance and upkeep of the 964.
Thank you for your continued support.

This is my first time to respond.
I am on the roof, not the reef. w
The husband told me that he was going to refresh the suspension of his 964 in Ashiari the other day.
I'm glad it feels the way it did when it was a new car. I also maintain two air-cooled Porsches, a RUF RCT and a 964C2, and I think the suspension is important, especially for RR Porsches. 964s often consult me about the front fluffing at high speeds, the rear coming out quickly in corners, and strong understeer, but if properly maintained, such things do not happen. If the car is properly maintained, there is no such problem, and most of the time it is due to the loss of damper, bad alignment, or ride height balance between front and rear. I have owned RUF for 12 years, and during that time, I have replaced the suspension bushings once, overhauled the front dampers once, overhauled the rear dampers twice, and adjusted the alignment 4 times. The 964C2 is now 7 years old, and although the suspension was freshened up 2 years before I bought it, the alignment has been adjusted twice. The rear damper is especially prone to sagging due to the heat of the engine and the stress of the engine weight.
I look forward to further comments from your husband.

Thank you for always taking care of my husband in Ashiu.

      >I'm on the roof, not the reef. w
      I really don't know much about cars, and I first learned about roofs when my husband took me for a ride before;

      >If properly maintained, this is not the case, and most of the time it is due to damper disconnection, poor alignment, or front/rear ride height balance.
I see! Cars are so deep...
For air-cooling, maintenance and servicing are really important.

My husband has been doing some maintenance and repairs, but the car seems to have really improved compared to when it was first delivered to us.
Lately, I've been saying to myself, "964, I'm feeling good.
      He said.

I'm going to be standing by to see how you feel about it all and how it will change!
Thank you for your continued support.

We are currently waiting for delivery of the 964.
This is my first time to use air-cooling, so I am learning in advance by reading.
Since we purchased the car in another prefecture, it was helpful as a maintenance place after delivery.
I look forward to more air-cooling related articles in the future.

      TARO.
      964, almost there!
Regarding air-cooling, my husband seems to be getting closer and closer to a new car in the future.
I will ask him to write another article.
Thank you for your continued support!

    Hello.

Good job on the 964 suspension refresh. No matter how good the quality of the used car is, it is over a quarter of a century old, so putting new parts back in will drastically change the car. You may have felt it after the refresh, but the stock 964 is very comfortable to drive. It is hard to believe that it is a sports car.

I am a stickler for the original, but the stock ride height of my 964 was too high and not cool, so when I refreshed the suspension about 7 years ago, I decided to use Bilstein's PSS-10 (now B16?). I set the ride height down modestly by 25mm, and the ride comfort was set to the softest of the 10 levels for enjoyable city driving.

Looking forward to another air-cooled report!

964, a refresh would make the ride that much better!
I have yet to ride it after the refresh and would love to do so again.

      In a word, 964 (911).
I thought there are so many different settings and ways to ride.
      Sports cars are very deep...

My husband went touring in his 964 the other day, so I'm sure I'll blog about it again ^^.
Thank you for your continued support.

    Hello~ (^. ^)

This past Sunday in Ashiari, the husband also said....

This is an old car, so this kind of refreshment works well.

My son is missing the building shocks, too, and I'd like to replace them.
But the height of the car is going up. lol

      >I was in Ashiari this past Sunday, and your husband also mentioned it.
Really! It's like a different car when you refresh it, I wonder if it was like this when it was a new car back then...
I thought it was also profound to ride in my imagination as I listened to the conversation.

Even a slight increase in ride height can change the atmosphere of a car!

It is wonderful. I want to do it too, but I can't get the parts.

If you don't mind, could you please tell me where you took the parts?

I look forward to working with you.

      Hello.
In my case, when I usually ordered genuine Porsche parts at the shop, it arrived immediately, but is it out of stock now? ??
There were some parts ordered from my home country, but I think it took about two weeks.
The shop I asked for was in KobeB-ForceMr. is.
